That as a race we both put our faith in technology and fear it.
Every new device seems to have an inevitable 'scare', mobile phones being the most recent in a long line. TV damages your eyes, microwaves give you cancer, phone masts are in some way detrimental (in some vague manner).
Seemingly the only tech we don't have a general fear of is weapons by the look of US gun laws.

Yes, in a word it should be kept only for trained astronauts and scientists. The point of space travel is to learn about the universe, it's not an equal opportunities day trip programme.
Nor is it there to 'conquer', if anything it should give humanity some much needed humility and teach us about our place in the whole.
I very much doubt that anyone will read this, let alone care, due to my karma but hey ho:
At my site (which I don't fancy getting/.'ed) I've recently written a functionality whereby users can effectively define their own hyperlinks. At the moment, the only implementation is that a user can swipe to highlight any text, hold down ctrl and click that text, and a sitewide search is performed on the chosen word or phrase.
I'm pretty convinced there are still new ways to browse websites within current coding parameters, and we don't necessarily have to sit around waiting for Firebird 32 or IE10.
Web design is about how people interact with information, not how people interact with computer software.
If you buy into the theory that more 'utilitarian' soft and hardware is more reliable (as it has less tasks to successfully cope with), you can't really blame the IT depts for this attitude.
Personally I can't see it adding to the popularity of OSS, as certainly in my experience, it's seen as a dark art where you're pretty much on your own, and it doesn't accomplish anything commercial enterprises can.
Terrorism is fast becoming the new communism. What a surprise.
It's $1 an hour in internet cafes. You can bet some of that is markup.
No, it isn't. That's a news page which has no influence over the ruling.
(from the list):
www.k_lite.tk_Kazaa_Lite@Kazaa
OK, thats everyone who's used KazaaLite and not bothered changing the default username shitting their pants...
Movable type bible AND a string of hilarious Police Academy films. Gutenberg is one hell of a guy!
To be honest I imagine embarrassing an Aussie would not be an easy task.
Saving regularly is good practice regardless of what OS you're using. Your cat/child/foot might pull out the power cord, for example.
I love Dick.
As far as spam filtering is concerned, I've had great success with SpamBayes for Outlook.
"I love the powerglove.. It's so bad"
I prefer:
1) Serve the public trust
2) Protect the innocent
3) Uphold the law
with the addition:
4) Be nice.
I've patented "Filing patents for ridiculously nebulous ideas". I'm going to see this guy in court.
"You made a time machine.. out of a DeLorean?"
Why on earth would I need a 404 error page on the dash of my car?
Well, it's just as well it doesn't use inkjet ink - what with it being 7 times more expensive than champagne.

And no, I'm not a hippy or a vegetarian.
Do you know, a roll of duct tape costs about 7GBP? It's really expensive here in the UK for some reason, and as a musician that's bad news for me.
Also, anyone in the UK looking for help preparing and filing a patent should check this guy out: Dr Brian Wybrow.
Would you like to explain to me how the Xbox is any more proprietary than the GameCube or PS2?
How about a -1 T-Shirt, that I could wear only twice a day, and when I did nobody could see it anyway?

Your IP may be insecure!
So would you say you're a closet networker?
I "lay cable" every morning!
