The discs stop working after a change in color renders them unreadable. They start off red, but when they are taken out of the package, exposure to oxygen turns the coating black and makes it impenetrable by a DVD laser.
Don't these people realize that we actually ENJOY developing methods to get around this stuff. People will have ways of applying a protective coating (open package submerged, apply coating, what is concentration 02 in water[~6ml 02/L]?) to prevent exposure of the surface to O2.
It may have taken a few dozen engineers at 3M two years to perfect, but my guess is that it will take a few thousand determined geeks about one month to circumvent.
And worst case is that we can't circumvent it and people simply have to spend a few hours ripping them.

When selecting a thermal solution for your system, please refer to the following listing of heatsinks evaluated and recommended by AMD for use with AMD Athlon XP(TM) processors. Note, the following heatsinks are recommended for maintaining the specified Maximum die temperature requirement. In addition, this selection is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all heatsinks that support AMD processors.

Friday, March 7, 2003: Through a teleconference linking Singapore and Stanford last month, Nanyang Technological University and Stanford finalized an agreement for a multifaceted research and distance learning project that will increase the University's presence in Southeast Asia and expose it to unique environmental engineering challenges.
"The Stanford Singapore Partnership, which enables students and professors in environmental engineering to collaborate on research projects, will allow 15 to 20 Singaporean graduate students to spend a summer quarter at Stanford and three quarters in Singapore taking Stanford classes through distance learning arrangements."
Those of you that will use this device in public may want to know that it does not have a headphone jack built-in. You have to buy a seperate add-on ($5) that plugs into the expansion port.
I picked up mine yesterday and the screen is evenly lit, and even the darkish Castlevania game is playable in a dim room.
