Ditto...It's not like music is worth the money at retail anyway. Plus I live 100 miles from a good music store with a solid selection, so it's back to ****** for my music.
Interesting, the nameless operator is most likely NOT T-Mobile, as I have been a customer with them for several years, and they will unlock your phone FOR you for FREE, just by emailing them and asking them to do so.
There are some limitations, like you have to have been a customer for 90 days, in good standing, etc. but if you email them and ask them to send you the unlock code, they will do so in a couple of days.
They have unlocked several Nokias for me in the past.
Nice to see another example of the US alienating another group of governmental agencies enough to force them to work in a competeting enterprise against NASA.
It's a reference to Homer Simpson doing a commercial in Japan for Mr. Sparkle detergent, or something or other.
Too lazy to look up the episode or whatever, if you're so interested in it do it yourself. So no, I'm not (+1, Informative) I'm (-1, Slack Ass Bastard)
I keep hearing grumblings about a renewal of nuclear testing. Having just studied at the Nevada Test Site and noticing an air of excitement at that facility, seeming how their primary mission may be reinstated, they seemed to be getting ramped back up for something.
There were 2 test towers in place that were mothballed in 1992 when the testing moratorium went into effect, but they seemed like they could be returned to service if needed.
It was interesting to train in such a "hot" facility, and if you are learning to respond to radioactive emergencies, there isn't a better place in the country to get hands on experience.
Yeah, I already got hit with a "big mac" virus, i was stuck on the toilet for days. Seemed like I had dysentery but when I switched to Wendy's, I got over it...
So I submit an ask slashdot looking for a nice VPN/firewall/router appliance for work and I get rejected and someone looking for a scanner for their sister so they can scan pokemon cards or whatever gets accepted.

Be careful, my newest "creative" patent has almost wound it's way through the patent office.
Next time you're reading that book, remember I submitted my patent on turning pages to move from one group of information to another in a linear fashion.
And don't think that those eastern languages that read up and down or right to left are left out (pun intended). I have descriptive text in my patent detailing all types of directional reading.
Can't wait for the royalties to come in on this one! Thanks US Patent Office!
I've been a T-Mobile customer for 5 years and for the most part their phone selection sucks. Always 6 months after other carriers get a new phone T-Mobile slides it into their lineup, case in point the RAZR. Cingular had it for 9 months or so and T-Mobile just picks it up.
Not that I'm complaining, I like my new RAZR *grins*
Try comparing rate plans to Cingular and you'll see why they wait until phones are cheaper, you get 1.5-2.0x minutes for the money. No rollover though *shrug*
I don't subscribe to sat radio, but I'm considering it in a headunit upgrade in the near future.
However, the reason some people subscribe has nothing to do with cost and everything to do with geography. I live 100 miles west of Denver, Colorado, and on that trip into Denver I have to switch between 4 different Colorado Public Radio stations and part of the time there isn't any coverage, so having the convenience of sat radio which works great in the Rocky Mountains, and has the same channels regardless of whatever mountain pass you just drove over.
I set up E911 through Vonage a couple of weeks ago after waiting forever (more than 2 months) for my phone # transfer to go through, and if you dial 911, you get a recording that says "you have reached a number at Vail Resorts that is no longer in service" and then it hangs up.
So much for safety...Ironically, when I called to set up E911 the woman on the other end said that she was part of a group that had just called ALL of the local dispatch #'s that Vonage uses for E911 service to verify them. Boy they did a bang up job.
So I work for the local Fire Department, so obviously, I know the back line # for the dispatch center, the one that 911 is supposed to point to, and I tried to give it to them but they refused and said they'd look into it, and this was like 2 weeks ago with no progress.
My feeling about Vonage is if you can get everything working and you don't want to transfer your # you're set. If not, prepare to have to do phone battle with people all over the world that really don't seem to care if you can dial 911 or not.
Actually, the samsung the author is writing about is able to upsample dvd's to HDTV refresh rates, and the HD841 is able to upsample over Component video rather than just over the DVI connection, once a particular set of keystrokes from the remote and voila, upsampling over Component...
So the dvd player can output to HDTV, it's just the DVD's that aren't mastered to DVD resolution.
Actually, I was going from a G4 Sawtooth to a G5 iMac, and that wouldn't work for me since my drives in the G4 are hooked up to a pci ATA card to break the LBA48 barrier, and Firewire Target mode only works on the primary built in controller with just the Master drive.
Hence the manual movement of files. And don't even get me started with quick user switching, if I could get the wife to go for that we'd be set, but alas no...
Isn't what's really of value here the data stored on the computer rather than the box itself? Having just bought a new computer and spent 2 nights transferring all of my data from the old one to the new one, the thing that came to mind is that this new fancy 500.00 machine I just picked up is an empty shell without MY data on it, and is pretty much valueless.
So before we jump on the "just buy a new computer" bandwagon, think about the time and hassle of moving that which makes your computer your computer, your DATA, to that new computer and transferring all of your settings, preferences, bookmarks, etc. Incorporate that time into the overall expense and you'll see that it's not such a great deal to just buy up that new emachines or dell or whatever...
Then factor in the SPOUSE HASSLE FACTOR...God forbid you move some file of your spouses from the old computer to the new one and she can't find it, or things look different on the new computer, etc...
How much does that cost vs. just fixing the problems with your current computer, let alone the environmental cost of recycling or disposing of the old computer. I know that nobody has ever thrown one of those into the dumpster...
So true...I used to spec IBM laptops for our company, but I won't use Lenovo, so now I'm stuck looking for a replacement laptop vendor. I have no idea who to use and am tempted to just make people use what they have for the next 2 years and then buy dual boot intel Apple laptops, if they exist yet...
There was this character early on, Anakin (John Reid in this case) and he started out with the best of intentions, but being corruptable like all people, John was tempted by the power and simplicity of the Dark Side, and eventually created the monster SBL (Death Star) by which entire ranges could be devestated by a single blow...
Idiots.

Just my experience.
Well done.

Yeah and my ask slashdot gets rejected in favor of this dupe, or tripe, or whatever it is...

It typically seems like submissions and story publication tapers off on Friday afternoon and is thin all weekend then bounces back on Mondays.
Just my perception, I know...
"he is willing to oust as many as 50 senior managers in a housecleaning rivaling the purge after the 1986 Challenger explosion."
Pretty harsh...
Ha.
I'm so sick of the damn spelling police and the CONTINUOUS off topic spelling and dupe commentary...(not that this is on topic or anything.)

That is why I'm seriously considering "Sirius"...

The rest is history (or should i say present.)
Does it support tiny little tabs across the top of the browser screen? Then it'll be the total "killer app" ;-P
I love my unbranded t637, works with cingular and T-Mobile just fine, and syncs via bluetooth with my Macs.
Used it for gprs data successfully, but you better have time on your hands for loading webpages. Does pop just fine though.
I'd look for a model that supports EDGE if you're planning on using it for data, the speed increase is supposed to be marked.
Who's going to reboot it? What if you don't pay your bill, will you just be on tape somewhere?
Kinda like digital purgatory.
