Do I seem a little bitter? I liked Shenmue and was all ready to buy Shenmue II when Microsoft bribed Sega into making it an X-Box exclusive literally weeks before the US DC release date. I still haven't forgiven Sega for that.
And as for Shenmue III and beyond, officially Sega does still claim to be making it, but they're not. And they never will.
I was considering making some sort of crack about the Amiga's superiority that probably would have involved the words pwn and j00 somewhere, but since I'd probably get modded down for it I won't do it.
There's a difference between having to click a little icon and having to blast the bad guy somewhere in the general head area. It all comes down to the design of each game.
The Revolution will have their...thing...as the default controller. Developers won't have to worry about how many of these controllers are out there because every Rev owner's gonna have one. The competition, on the other hand, would have to release it as an add-on, and we all know how well those work out.
Microsoft, having been found guilty of anti-competitive behavior before, follows a different set of rules than most companies because of conditions of their settlement.
The problem is, Square and Mistwalker both make a very expensive style of game, and why would they pursue exclusives on a machine that has less units? I think Sakaguchi is taking a big risk on supporting the 360 and I don't think it's going to pay off. I don't expect to see this support from these developers for very long.
That would matter in a complex, text-heavy game like an RPG, but I think it's safe to bet that there aren't going to be many of those, if any, at a console's launch.
It's not about the number of games, and it's not even so much about the quality - it's what those games are. Microsoft completely failed to grab the Japanese audience with the original XBox and they swore up and down that they learned from their mistakes and wouldn't repeat them with the 360 in Japan. Lo and behold, they did repeat them.
From our perspective, the Japanese play some weird-ass games like Shogi, Go, Horse Race Gambling, Mahjongg, and somtimes weird combinations of the 4. Microsoft doesn't seem to get this. The Japanese are fully aware that they don't get this and they find it offensive that this upstart American company expects them to buy a product that they clearly didn't bother to research enough to cater to them.
First off, if you can even consider a Jack Thompson quote, you haven't read enough Jack Thomspon quotes yet. But even still, I don't beleive he has a point. Things you watch and things you do can put ideas in your head. Sometimes bad ideas. If we wanted beleived ol' JT and banned everything that could have a negative influence, we'd have to ban every video game, every movie, every TV show(and certainly every commercial) and the bible.
You people amuse me sometimes. What would the response be if this was a patent infringement case against Firefox or Apple?/. geeks would be picketing in the streets.
And for those of you who would like to see all plugins blocked, why don't you just use Netscape 1 or, better yet, Mosaic? No plugins, no popups.
I probably shouldn't bother, but I need to as you this: When was the last time you bought a video card manufactured by NVidia? Never? Wow, same here. What a coincidence.
NVidia only makes the chips. Someone else makes the board. If you got a crappy card it's more likely going to be the fault of whoever made that board.
A new car? Wouldn't you rather use that kind of money for something more useful, like say, a quad SLI system and get a used car which is nearly as good but at 1/2 the price?
Okay. I tried to install their little ActiveX plugin for Firefox and it failed to work. I didn't feel so bad, though, because it barely works in IE as it is. But then I went back to browsing and discovered Firefox kept crashing. After 20 minutes of digging, I found the little POS files it put in there. I deleted them. All is good now.
And these companies wonder why things are pirated. When this thing dies a fiery death, they'll sit and scratch their heads and wonder why.
Apparently, for WoS, they're going to require a webcam, and if they find out that your character is moving and you're not in frame, they send a zergling rush to your house.
What bar is he suing and why? Did he get too many drinks thrown in his face by women (or men perhaps) and is out for vengeance?

No kidding. To this day every time I see a duck I run for fear of getting eaten.
Yeah. Right. More Shenmue. Hahah. You're funny.

Qix the MMO? Sign me up. :)
Ooh! Ooh! Can I try? Can I Can I?
MS might buy...NASA. They're "ailing" aren't they? And we can get some new shiny Windows PCs on the ISS.

Or so the theory goes...

These stories give me the idea that this is what the admins here are always like and this is their only chance to show their true selves.
So I really think we should...
NO CARRIER
If I get a girl and put her in between two of these things I can make that superherpmutantgirl I've aways wanted. Now all I need is the girl.
...damn.

...are the victim's loved ones suing the family of the murderer? Or just the ones with, you know, money?

So who do you think God would hire as a lawyer? He might have to ask his roommate downstairs to send up a few juicy ones.

The sequel to Starcraft: Ghost, tentatively named Starcraft: Ghost Forever, is tentatively slated for early 2007...

You gotta set your priorities, man.
