  1. It looks like an old Sega Genesis game on Review: Dragon Quest VIII · · Score: 1

I used to love the old Dragon Warriors on the NES, DW 1-4 but after seeing the screenshots here and in other reviews and magazines, I just dont feel like there's much to build on. To me it seems like a mix between the old cartoonish arcade game Dragon Quest from the mid 80s as well as Shining in the Darkness on the Sega Genesis... am I wrong and should give it a chance?

  3. Quake 1 on Old School Gameplay Collides With Modern Graphics · · Score: 1

Quake 1 had nothing to do with Earth's invasion of Stroggos... it basically had no storyline other than Shug-Niggurath being the boss at the end. All in all, good times in Q1 for sure! Slipgating to telefrag your friends! Quake 2 and Quake 4 are tied together plotwise.

    I agree.

I love the team aspect and always try to find a squad of competent players unless im playing with people I am friends with. I mainly use medic and dont bother with the planes/choppers. I will take time on single player mode some day and learn as I did with Desert Combat.

The thing that gets to me the most is when you have a squad leader who is just flying around in his 2 man helicopter and thus killing the chance to have a squad spawn on him. But that isnt a big issue when you can leave to create your own squad and then direct an attack or defense.

I can not for the life of me remember this game which I'll describe. If someone else does, please do tell since I would like to perhaps try and find it for an emulator. Anyway, you are doing various rescue missions on desolate planets, you have to pick up humans which you see as blips on the screen. When you land you turn off your shields and whatnot and wait for the "person" to come into view running towards the ship. They begin to knock and you either decide to let them in, or fry them with the shields... see if they are human, they slowly begin to knock slower and slower... until they die... if it is an alien, it jumps violently onto your windshield with a spooky looking face and errie sounds which always made me jump. Was a fun game, just cant think of it!

Nintendo was more than just that gold seal... They also produced ALL cartridges which 3rd party games were using, along with their own of course. So they held all the cards so to speak. As far as I can remember, that one Tetris game somehow circumvented that system of control.

I would welcome third party controllers... Like I mentioned below, everyone is familiar with a remote control, but who holds one for extended periods of time?

I liked their design with the game cube outside of the game pad on it I found a tad too small.

So I feel this will be amazingly awkward, it's almost like the old Intellivision controller.

I agree, this is such a bad idea. Its super long, and too thin. Sure people are used to a remote controller for their tv, etc, but they pick it up change the channel and put the damn thing down. I dont know anyone who holds it for long periods of time, unless they are obsessive compulsive. I for one will not be getting my hands on this system, unless something more mainstream comes out, perhaps third party. Wtf is Nintendo thinking?
