No no no, the next version would be XP Revolutions. Of course, on par with Slashdot here mind you, XP Revolutions would use a grub loader, let you choose the mount point, use new winextfs, and let you choose between winome or kdew32 window managers.
They are user-serviceable, but I am fairly sure that it voids your warranty, which is crap. Don't get me wrong, I love Apple, and I'm not all that sure about the warranty thing:P For reference: iPod Battery.com
Oh look, someone tried to make a quick post so they could get mod points! You can be the leading expert and still have colleagues that are also experts - 'expert' does not imply that he's the only one knowledgeable in the field.
I think the more important question is can it run StarCraft?:-) This looks like just another over-sized PDA to me. Right now, it is faster than current PDAs, but, right now, it is also vaporware. By the time it comes out, 1 Ghz will be the minimum.
The evolution from phones you have to crank to videophones that make it seem like the other person is right with you is just a natural process for the technology to take.
However, the old system will most likely always have to be supported, because there are far too many automated/integrated/etcerated systems implemented right now that rely on analog phone signals.
Anywho, cool stuff:-)
That's really not insightful. All this means is that, as of now, only Windows computers can *check* the validity of the picture in question. The computer you use has nothing to do with the pictures your camera takes.
These guys are screwed. I'm going to write a windows worm that causes the infected computer to become a processing node for me and use them to crack this shit lickety-split. Method of getting onto their windows machine? Click here to check it out!!!.
Maybe not so short-lived. The HP iPod will be compatible with iTunesMS. I think this could be an excellent thing for both parties, assuming Apple has limited how low HP's price can go.
It would have been right (in my opinion) for him to offer to fix a problem he found for a fee, but to threaten to disclose the flaw is legally and morally wrong.
Stop being a politically correct, whiny bitch. "They" is a pronoun, not a racial slur. It is referring to the typical Hindu farmer, and it is true. God damn, "you people" make me so mad.
Originally it stood for internet, as it originated on the iMac. The iMac was supposed to be the easiest computer to get online with at it's time of release (and it was). Not all of the applications it's applied to make sense, though. iMovie? iTunes? (Makes sense with the iTMS now, though) iPhoto? (Well, that does have web features..). Anyway, it seems to me that it stands for I now. Or me.
Yes, they pulled it because it was showing up on every machine, rather than just ones that had XCode installed. Nothing wrong with the update, though, so no worries!
Why do you hate the world?? I realized you were joking, just pointing out to those who actually thought that way (numerous posts indicating so). The smiley was kind of a huge tip off;)
It's like when people call in because their password doesn't work anymore (they forgot their password) and you tell them to try it once more. Somehow, it *almost* always magically works!
Why didn't this make the front page? It would have if it were a MS exploit. This is most likely a viable exploit, although you need a user account or physical access to the computer.
No, he is carefully choosing his words. He did so a few times in the interview. You see, he has to play nice with the RIAA because they control his access to music right now. What he really said in the interview is that soon that will not be the case.
New releases will be distributed over kazaa. Hopefully you have the old kazaa lite so you can update without spyware :-P No, I don't know that this is true, but it'd be a good idea.

I take it you haven't seen Back to the Future? ;)
Our density has led us to video phones. (haha)

Damn, at first I thought you were talking about Comuputer, and I could absolutely not draw the connection..
The cynical comedians are always the best. This is the single funniest post I've ever read on Slashdot, and we have some funny people here.
Body language. Sarcasm, jokes, lies, tones, undertones. Communication!? Text cannot replace voice and body language, I'm sorry.

it's not to detect plagiarism, but to find duplicate code in the SAME source.

We've had *much* lesser quality mods posted on Slashdot before. This mod is beautiful. I don't really see what you're problem is..

Ah, I think I figured it out. I seem to remember?? Wow, that definitely does not need an acronym.
