I didn't mind the 'stupid add-on' as I needed it for Perfect Dark anyway.:) The two Zeldas and PD justified my owning a n64.
I thought myamoto (sp?) did quite well in the way he approached WW but I agree with how you feel about Sonic Adventure 1 + 2 being better than Sunshine. Sunshine was too short, hated the silly water pistol (give me JSR any day!) and felt nothing like the other other platformer mario games.
The whirlwind scene in SA1 makes it one of the few games that have given me a rush. That's what I call a great game. ^_^
wouldn't have helped me because I didn't use it for very long anyway. It was probably best that it did break then I had a good reason to replace the controller. =)
I hated the atari 2600 joystick. Probably because I'm left handed....
I eventually broke it (inside plastic that hit the 4 way buttons cracked) and I got a third party joystick to replace it. It had grips on the stick, a button under the index and another one over the thumb. I like that one a whole lot better. It was much more comfy but soon after I got a SNES and I moved on from the Atari.
I like to use the USB cable that comes with a usb memory disk to do this mod. The cables are expensive when purchased on their own but they are virtually free with most flashram drives. HAve a look around you (not the parent) probably have one or two lying around.
Assembling the cable is childs play, all thats required is chopping the female plug off one end of an usb extension cable and wiring it up colour matching colour with the cable on an xbox controller.
To get it working on a PC Windows drivers are needed which can be found at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xboxhid/ or http://grooveyardfunk.com/projects/xid/ or http ://members.cox.net/lazerman/downloads.html
The drivers are made by different people so find the one that works best for you. some are picky about the version of windows. I do not know if there are Linux drivers.
I always thought the inline release on the xbox controller a marketing gimmick but it comes in quite useful when you do this mod because if you have another unmodified xbox controller cable you can still use the xbox controller on the xbox just by plugging the unmodified cable into where the inline release is.
I renamed the file to wma when it finished downloading and when I right clicked it it said:
Protected Content Can't play on this computer Copy to CD not allowed Copy to portable player not allowed Copy to an SDMI-compliant portable player not allowed
When I try to play it in Winamp, it loads my browser and takes me to wiredrecords.com
then I fired up WMP and it wants me to 'update my digital rights management installation'
I'm using the version WMP that comes when you update XP with SP1.
oh well so much for trying this 'freebie' out. I'll stick to un-DRMed music thanks
Their site still needs some work. I'm downloading a sample song off jbhifi's site http://jbhifi.destramusic.com/player/ and on Mozilla Phoenix its coming down as a html file. I should be able to renamed it as a wma file when its done so it shouldn't be a problem but it still something they need to fix.
I wonder how restirctive the drm is on their wma files. AU99c is only ~US72cents so its cheaper than the US sites but as somebody already mentioned thats how much the prices starts from.
Nothing new is interesting me this holiday season and lately I've just been picking up games I missed that came out in the past like ZOE2: The 2nd Runner, Morrowind, Freedom Force and Resident Evil Remake.
They might be in breach of copyright if they did that. Asking for permission beforehand would be out of the question since the news has to be fresh and a reply may be ages away. Then there are some sites which might outright not give permission to slashdot, for example if the slashdot article is on something not so good about that site.
Helped 'a bit'? Ken Levine is the co founder, general manager and creative director of Irrational Games and he used to work at Looking Glass. Look at their US team (the link to their Australian office is down unfortunately) and count for yourself how many people used to work at Looking Glass. To say ex-looking glass employees only helped IR 'a bit' is way understating th role they're playing in making IR such a success.
Do you have a link saying Doug Church retired from the gaming industry? He's credited with working on 'Backyard Wrestling: Don't try this at Home' and that only came out this year. Its also rumoured he's working closely with Warren to bring System Shock 3 to light.
Sure thing. Bits and pieces of the System Shock franchise went to Irrational Games (ex-Looking Glass developers and ans who helped bring the game to light), Ion Storm (ex-Looking Glass employees including their executive producer Warren Spector)and EA (the publishers of SS)
EA aquired the IP rights to System Shock when they purchased Origin Systems.
You can still get Thief 1+2 and System Shock 2 on budget label but whether any of that gets back to the original developers depends on what terms of contract they signed.
Thief 3 is currently underway by the Deus Ex 2 guys. A System Shock sequel is a bit finicky since the rights to it are with 3 different companies.
I can't find Fallout 1 or 2 new anywhere. I hope it get the budget treatment one day...
I hope the BI guys can find employment with their old workmates then. Arcanum is selling for only AU$20 here but I'm still to find a store that still has it. Apparently they got snapped up really quick.
Don't forget there's also the Collectors Edition. I was lucky enough to find it at EB earlier this year. (Stuff like this rarely hits the shores in Aust). It really is a collasal collection of goodies put together in one package.

Mate, linking them on slashdot is what you do to sites you don't like.
They are:
Deus Ex 2 (still hasn't come out where I am yet)
Theif 3
System Shock 3
Freedom Force 2
Total Annihilation 2 or Chris Taylor's Version of it
Most of all I want to see a Lunar 3, they haven't made a true sequal for this game since 2 came out on the SegaCD.
I just use the gpu thats built into the motherboard. they don't add very much to the price of the board.
My favourite was the Nvidia A7N-266 buts its oop now.

Thank god we have Denton on our side.
program might look for mouse movement like those cash-for-watching-ad clients used to do.
3 minutes of ads every 30 minutes, Guesstimating off the length of shows on dvd, there's around 10 minutes of ads in every 1/2 hour of tv.
On the other hand it might not be too favourable to those people who pay $/megabyte for their internet connection.
No he does mean E. Honda. Later on he goes 'he's a sumo wrestler -- that's why people like he and zangeif joined the tournament, '
what I'm wondering about is who hes says uses a sword in that game. AFAIK no one wielded a sword unless Vader's claws count.

I wonder how the OLFC in Australia will decide.
They made Rockstar censor GTA3 and VC and both games came out in NZ uncut.

If you stand your ground and don't sell out, you get stamped on by those with more $$$.
This news saddens me too.
I'll miss you Black Isle. RIP with Looking Glass and Cavedog.
To remove any ambiguity, "my son" should have been said before his name.

and sony will fix it for free even if it's out of warranty.

Nice! But I play NWN on Windows so I had to get the W32 version of that hack.
