most of the netbook still have options that use some flavor of linux as OS, so who cares if it runs Windows 7 or not? Personally I don't want my netbook running Windows 7 or even XP because it's not designed for it (consuming too much resource).
back in my time.. the I in RAID always means Inexpensive. but time has changed and people want to stick with the same ancronym, so they come up with another explanation.
I'm facing the exact same situation. In my local market, sub-notebooks/netbooks with linux just has crappy overall package, so if I decide to buy one with higher spec, I'm forced to go XP.
The problem is those netbooks with XP's price is high enough to match the slightly older(i.e phased out) notebook models.
I've used SMC routers in the past, then switched to Zyxel router now(the home routers, not the expensive ones). and in my experience, I have never intetionally reboot them, only when I update the firmware (that happen maybe once every 6 month?) my routers are always up and running and never rebooted.. but on the other hand, I used to own a D-Link router for my folk's place. that router lasted maybe 1 week before replaced by SMC.. (reboots and resets randomly)
Here in Taiwan, since the beginning of DSL service, there are always 2 seperate charges for DSL services. One is the circuit fee you paid to the phone company (which is monopoly), and the ISP fee for you paid to your ISP. You can choose the phone company as your ISP, or you can choose other ISPs. but the circuit charge is always paid to your phone company.
It's like comparing a Porsche and a 10-speed bike and claim it's the same because people only use it to go from point A to point B.
people who use dSLR will take different shots then people who use a camera phone. People who are interested in taking good pictures will probably want to have much more functions then camera phone's simple point and click.. Those who use camera phones to take pictures will not care about about the aperture settings, ISO.. etc.
I start using CD burner since 92/93.. cost $2000 for a *cheap* Yamaha drive, but the quality is good. or you can pay $1000 for a really dirt cheap Ricoh, but the quality.. sucks.
back then I remember the media is something like $25 each CD (Kodak). You can imagine why people wants multisession burning back then. and each mistake costs $25. I was literally bleeding through my wallets.
one of the company I work with, we had a large percentage of new HD failure of a particular brand and model.. the HD company in question gave us an extremely favorable replacement policy (above and beyond the normal RMA you'd expect). in exchange we have to sign NDA to keep it hush.
Floppy drive will always be there, until there's a new standardized removable media supported natively in BIOS.
I still put floppy drives into every computer I build, since it is still the only reliable way to insert driver during OS installation, and upgrade/flash BIOS of your system. Although most system can be booted via optical drive, but there's no easy/simple way to produce a bootable CD or DVD..
some MB can boot via USB/flash drive, but it's again not universally supported, and the media compatibility varies a lot, too.

This is one of the biggest issue I'm facing trying to deploy OOo. User tend to gribe about the OOo not rendering M$ docs/spreadsheet correctly, but it's more or less tolerable.
the other big issue is people having a hard time adjust to a different application (macros, how to set layouts, short cuts.. etc).
I'm just wondering what's the rough estimate on time/computer power for cracking a 256bit symmetrical encryption? or for the matter of simplicity, 128bit encryption?
I'm really tired to see a few/. regular sites which supposedly write reviews, but it's actually just advertising using/. effect.. and while good reviews on other sites gets no attention, until people are posting them in the threads.
I have no choice but using SBC's service, because for local phone service and DSL, SBC has the monopoly where I live/work. Although I locked in a good rate for DSL a few month ago, by the time contract ran out, I'm sure SBC will start raising it's price back to full now there's no CLEC to compete for DSL service.
MMORPG runs on a persistant world, an ever changing world, requiring content updates and patches.. new ideas being introduced all the time, and bad ideas need to be fixed. without HD, the only way to store changes is on your memory card, and that is probably not nearly enough unless you are using 512MB or bigger card.
And why is my post being marked *Redudent*? I was the first one to post on FFXI issue, but others were assigned being modded up and there for display first if you sort by mod scores.
mwave.com is also pretty good for online shopping.

20 years ago I have to pay more then that just to get a computer with 80286-10Mhz, 1MB RAM, 40MB HD, with 5.25" floppy..
technology always drives price lower..

just use a scanner to scan the printed sheet music back to the computer if you are technically challenged.
you need electricity to keep DRAM refreshed.. so it's certainly not that low power.
and I had use Gigabyte's i-RAM before, hot as hell.
MLC NAND flash typically rated for 10000 erase cycles, while SLC NAND flash are rated for 100000 cycles.....

there's also the problem of stores not selling Genuine/Legal CD/DVDs.
the 4x4 platform is called because it's 4 CPU core and 4 GPU core (dual nvidia 7950).

So what PSU do you end up choosing?

no.. SBC is the only game in town for telephone services. I wish there are alternatives.

that's 1800XL, (comparable to 7800GT). 1800XT is probably still a month away from release.
