Can you give us some more details, who threated you, did you hire a lawyer, ect.
Because you are in the US does that mean the 1st amendment (IANAL) "Right to peacable assemble" play? And couldn't you (I dunno this is getting really OT) file for assult charges(or something, I just know that if a person threatens to hit you it is assault, if they hit you it is battery, and in someplaces if they prevent you from leaving on your own free will for no reason (say not letting you leave a party because they don't like you) it is kidnapping) because you were being threatened? Or was it just to keep you locked away for the durration of the persons visit? (Wrongful arrest comes to mind...)
(I saw this in a chem lecture a few weeks ago). Get a ceramic container with a hole in the bottom. Put some steel wool to cover the hole and put some Iron Oxide (Rust) and aluminum shavings. Get a container to hold some molten iron underneath it. Stick a magnesium fuse in the ceramic container, light, stand back and watch.
Lots of light, some heat, and a quick reaction as the molten iron pours out the bottom of the container. You probably don't want anybody too near it though.
Although filling 3 balloons, one with Helium, one with Hydrogen, and one with oxygen, and then touching them off one at a time was good to watch also. (No boom, small boom, Big Boom). It also isn't quite so destructive.
And yes, I am a college student that saw these both in chem lecture in the last month.
Most every modern PC already does component out, in the form of an RGB signal. For reference (some of it from what people were doing to run VGA monitors off of the XBox...) 640x480 = 480p 1280x720 = 720p 1920x1080 = 1080i (I borrowed the 720p and 1080i from some site, so I'm not sure if they will work)
(and I can't remember any others, but there are) On http://www.epanorama.net/ if you look you can find something like: (From http://www.epanorama.net/links/videocircuits.html)
Do-it-Yourself VGA ro PPrPb Cable - This circuit is designed to convert 60Hz VGA (480p) from a computer's VGA port and drive progressive-component outputs to an HDTV (or similar display device).
You can also find links for going component to RGB if you want to run an Xbox (or PS2 or DVD player).
FWIW this is a starting reference, don't try something unless you are willing to take a chance that it might screw something up really bad.
Ok, I haven't really heard of this but for example make a product: Offer a semi-large plug that offers a variety of DC voltages (your big 110/120/220/240/ect AC things still get the wall or power strip), say 3.5,5,6,9,12,15, and you just get a plug that would plug into that and convert into what ever your (likely) portable devices needs as a plug for its power.
You would still have a power supply of somesort powering it, but if nothing is using a certain voltage then you could maybe disable that voltage on the PS so it wouldn't waste power generating a voltage that isn't used (or maybe have it look and see if there is something wanting that voltage so it enables the voltage, so if nothing is plugged in, the power use would be minimal).
Just an idea that isn't just a powerstip (well in a way it is, just that it is for low-voltage devices)
I think for the RC planes they are using the 72mhz band, many channels and IIRC illegal for ground based items to use. It would be nice however if you could get these little cars running at 75 mhz, many channels there and legal for ground based items.
From http://www.easyrc.com/radiosystems/radiosystems4.h tml Aircraft Use Only (72 megahertz, Channels 11 - 60) Surface Use Only (75 megahertz, Channels 61-90) All Uses (27 megahertz, Channel Code A1-A6)
Why not? Could you imaging a car made out of Na running into a river? You wouldn't have to worry about drowning in it. On the other hand there might not be anything left in said car to recover....
What about just getting some spot lights and shining it on the license plate. Make it so bright that it can't be read by the cameras, it just kinda is a spot (assuming they are IR or UV). If it is at night you could just turn up your license plate lights and maybe with the flash it could wash out the plate.
Hmm, for reference 1 F paper usually takes about 7 A papers to avg. it back up to an A. That paper would take somewhere in the range of 70-80 A papers to get it avged back up to an A. (A avging to 93%, but A papers in being 100%)
Nice list of items, I know that people can take a speeding ticket to court and contest it even if the evidence says that they were indeed speeding.
I think (IANAL) that the 1st amendment with the freedom of religion. I think it is just that if the government was giving breaks to one religion over another it would look like they were sponsoring it and that it was for somereason better than the rest.
I think this is what people may refer to when they talk about seperation of church and state, but IANAL(but my sister may be one in July).
The article said that they stopped doing it in 2000.
It also said that they would refrain from doing it for 7 years. If it is illegal saying that you won't do it for X amount of time still won't make it legal (although sometimes you wonder if it will still be illegal in the future...).
I hope I am not the only one that sees this as a problem.
Why do the copyrights have to be so long anyway? If a creator of a work dies lets their heirs control what can be done with the item, those heirs will likely be dead before the copyright will be up. At this rate someone could have died durring WWII and their copyright on their works would still be good.
One probably I have had with FFX (haven't had a chance to go any further since some one borrowed and never gave back my brothers PS2...) was that it seemed really linear, kinda like an interactive story with out a lot of explor and do random stuff between the goal points. Most of the FFs I have played have some explore and do random stuff while going between points and just seemed more than an interactive story.
( I was almost up to Zanarkland and I didn't have the airship in my control yet if you want an idea how much I had played (using the FFX guide it seemed about 85% or more through the game). )
I am hoping that if FFXI has an online component it might be something like Phantasy Star Online where it can be played on or offline.
It is nice that it FFXI going to be included on the new Dells though, although I hope they won't be the minium specs for it to play decently on...
Ok, yes people can do something like that already.
My question is how are they getting the data between the computers if there is no wire or wireless connection between them? Floppies? What transmision media are they using?
Ok, I jumped the gun a little when I posted this. Under the name that they give on their trademark page, I found "Freedom" and "Flag" and "Source" in the USPTO website, and they are only Magazines. Although they listed so many of those on their site I am unable to find some of them in the USPTO find. Over all only 173 records were the owner's names contains "Religious" and "Center" and "Technology" (yeah, go booleen searches...), incase you need a link, http://www.uspto.gov
Has anybody read the copyright statement @ http://www.scientology.org/csi.htm.
" Users are not authorized to download or transmit any of these materials electronically "
So by viewing it on a computer you are commiting an illegal act according to the words of the document. It also says that you may not print it.
Skiming their trademarks page, http://www.scientology.org/tmnotice.htm , that ones a killer. But skimming it in their trade marks they claim (among other things): flag, freedom, Source. After some items they have Symbol or Logo, but not after these.
Or if you're board sue either the retailer or the record company for false advertising, because if it doesn't meet the specs it obviously can not be called a CD and should not be sold as such. Remember the article a few months ago about Philips building CD copiers designed to bypass all the copy protection stuff?
I recall reading about some SGI machines (I think) that could have up to 2GB of video memory... I know, probably not PC compatible but I nice number in any case.
Besides not riding on the airplanes, what would a person do if they were continually hitting up the "randomly" sekected few to be extra searched? In one of the articles they link to an article by Charles Simonyi entitled "I Fit the Profile" (link http://slate.msn.com/default.aspx?id=2058 ) it lists how 2 times recently he has flown that he has been requiered to a search. One way he avoided it was by having no carry on luggage. While 2 for 2 could be random chance (anybody have any actual numbers?), when he inquiered on how he could avoid being selected it said (this is also in the article)
"Please understand that Federal Regulations prohibit. . . all other air carriers from sharing specific information regarding this program with the public."
So although they claim random computer selection that can't tell us exactly how they are selecting.
Just some thoughts. To be honest the last time I flew I didn't need any ID to get on the plane and neither did anybody else in the group I was in, about 14 people.
Several years ago, 1996-7ish, the FCC was already requiering that all Broadcast transmissions be digital by 2006. I am not sure if it mentioned copy protection however.
I can attest to the soundfeeders being lousy, they work if you have nothing else but with my car stereo radio volume always being lower than CD volume I would overdrive the poor little modulator from my MP3 player before I would get it as loud as a CD in the unit. One thing I did consider however was a modulator that goes in between the radio and the antenna, however at $80 I never got arround to it. I suspect it would have worked better because CD changers for radios that don't have the ability built in use that method to get a signal to the radio.
A provision of the law allows FBI agents to obtain a warrant from a secret court for library or bookstore records of anyone connected to an investigation of terrorism or spying.
Also the SFGate article says nothing about subpeonas being served, except for the librarian around 30 years ago. Nor does the CommonDreams have anything about subpeonas.
And the contact phone number, 213-555-0088, well 213 is california and 555 is a phone company only prefix I believe.
The technical contact most of that appears to be correct although his phone number area code 858 is also califonia and not Hawaii. And then the "Registration Service Provider:"
Offshore Holdings, opensrs@choi.org phone # is the same as the tech. contact number.
So there does appear a way for people to anonymously register domains and not give any real information out and still get bills at non-existent addresses. I can just imaging the fun of spam comes from this guys box, you couldn't find a real number to call!
I have read stories of amatuer radio operators playing games with their antennas so they would be harder to see. If QST a few years back they showed a picture of an antenna painted brown to blend in with the trees, no leaves on it however. This also reminds me of the person who used their clothesline as an antenna until the neighbor accidentally touched it while the guy was transmiting....
One thing mentioned in the article is about secret courts. I am not sure but the idea that the FBI can go in an get information using a warrant from a secret court and not having to tell the person is mildly unconstitutional.
Can you give us some more details, who threated you, did you hire a lawyer, ect.

So does that mean that all of the people born from 2020-2029 are going to be anonymous cowards?
