You have far, far too much freetime on your hands. And if you're going to reply to this saying you can't find a job, I have some code monkey work for you.
I'm sure you could get out of that contract on the grounds that they didn't uphold their end. IANAL, but there are reasonable expectations on delivery of service in a contract. They are likely in breach of this, seeing as how their service is totally unreachable and unusable.
People cannot even reach your voicemail. This would cost me more money per day than the penalty for axing my Sprint contract, anyways.
Call them. End your contract. Get a better provider. (FYI: Sprint is NOT one, as soon as number portability kicks in I'm out).
Stop buying stuff from the companies that do this. Bottom line. Spam and telemarketing works because of idiots. No one will pay cold callers who can't sell 1 out of 1000 sales. Put an end to the insanity, slashdot.
The average non-technical computer user can't switch to linux if his/her "AOL doesn't work on it". Most ISPs that have their own software can be connected to via PPP, but most end users still want that pretty client software. Good luck.
Heh. It'll be just like buying a cert for your SSL server, the big boys (Thawte and crew) will get hardcoded into the big clients (Outlook and crew). Others' email, who generated their own secure key (even with PKI) will generate a dialog in the big clients telling you its not safe, or it'll just drop it as spam. Here we go.
I could testify in that court case, should the plaintiff see fit to contact me. I was set up with a paper trail, and terminated from Best Buy, after refusing to sign up people for MSN without their knowledge. I worked there during high school.
I worked in computers, and then appliances. I refused to stuff an MSN cd in some old man's bag who didn't even have a PC. It's just wrong.
Boycott Best Buy. There are dozens of other *HORRIBLE* things that they do that they call "Best Practices", because they're not part of the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) they're not "company policy", thus they just deny it. These "Best Practices" are store/department written, so they'll never get caught. I have pushed carts to pay my insurance in high school, I would much rather do something like that, than provide a mechanism for things so morally wrong.
Mod this up so maybe slashdot choosing to use another retailer can make a difference!
Your local ILEC telco is required by law to provide you with a dialtone for 911 usage, so if you cancelled your landline, you should still have a dialtone on the line, which can only be used to call 911.
I want to know what the guy from the recording's problem is. At several points there, I would have said something to the effect of "BITCH SLOW DOWN!". While this crap is immoral, and as yet to-be-determined, probably illegal.. this guy didn't exactly do all he could have.

Anyone else looking to murder Sprint PCS over this sham they advertised-as-3G-but-never-works and call Vision?
It's a 50/50 shot for it to work, even with a full signal. I have an N400, by the way.
Would some of you mind sharing your PCS Vision results with me? I want to try a different phone. Be sure to include what phone you're using. Thanks!

Microsoft is a long way from its ultimate goal where users can take security for granted in its products
How come Microsoft gets to take security for granted in its products, but the users don't?!

This whole, "maybe we could apply 'blah' to rule the DMCA unconstitutional!" thing is turning into the next "wow, imagine a beowulf cluster of [...]".
STOP IT WHILE YOU CAN. PLEASE! I BEG OF YOU.

JERRY: Uh, sorry, Excuse me one second. Hello.
TEL: Hi, would you be interested in switching over to TMI long distance service.
JERRY: Oh, gee, I can't talk right now. Why don't you give me your home number and I'll call you later.
TEL: Uh, I'm sorry we're not allowed to do that.
JERRY: Oh, I guess you don't want people calling you at home.
TEL: No.
JERRY: Well now you know how I feel. [Hangs up]
