The second is the duration of 9 192 631 770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the cesium 133 atom.
Use some kind of artificial intelligence! Something like HAL or Elisa...
Wait... Can you imagine the conversation?
You: I need help.
Elisa: Why do you want help?
You: I had an accident.
Elisa: Can you elaborate on that?
You: My car crashed.
Elisa: Why do you say your car crashed?
You: Because, some asshole ran me off the road!
Elisa: Do any other reasons not come to mind?
You: No dammit!
Elisa: You are being a bit negative.
You: Negative? I NEED SOME HELP!
Elisa: Why do you want some help?
You: I TOLD YOU ALREADY!
Elisa: Do you wish to told me?
You: DAMN YOU! JUST GET ME SOME HELP!
Elisa: Oh, i just get you some help.
You: YES! YOU DO THAT!
Elisa: You are sure?
You: YES YOU MORON!
Elisa: You are sure?
You: FOR THE LAST TIME, YES!
Elisa: You are sure?
You: JUST GET ME SOME HELP NOW!!!
Elisa: Can you elaborate on that?
You: *die from your blood curdling*
Ok.... maybe that's not such a good idea after all.
Actually, they weren't sterile in Jurassic Park. They were just engineered to develop into a female dinosaur, until the frog DNA in them caused some to switch to male.
And who's to say that his father didn't become a priest until AFTER he was born. Circumstances in his [father's] life might have made him go that route.

The brain wasn't the product of evolution? You are a moron. The reason human brains are significantly more complex than other primates stems from our bipedal nature. When our evolutionary ancestors began standing erect, the surface area exposed to the sun fell dramatically. This reduced our overall heat absorption area. Add this to the network of blood vessels that developed in our cranial cavity, and the brain is allowed to be cooler. And a cooler brain can function better. This allowed it to grow in complexity.
Oh sure, I'll admit that there are SOME inklings of truth in the bible... if you choose to wade through the hypocrasy and propaganda that has biased it through the centuries. Go right ahead.
As for Jesus dying and rising from the dead... hah. He was not crucified in a public place, where ordinary witnesses could observe his passing. He supposedly died in hours when it should have taken DAYS to kill him on the cross. He was taken to his "burial chamber" and no one was allowed to go there other than a select few. Thus, no one other than those involved could verify that he was in fact "dead". Only when he left the "chamber" after the three days, was any one allowed in there and the story that he "came" back to life was started.
Nice to know that particular religion is based upon a charlatan and a criminal, huh?
And don't forget that this is really serial, so two bits out of every ten bits are used by the serial communication. That 56000 bits translates into 5600 bytes of data. So, expect it to fill up in 11.4 seconds.;)
I thought SCO are argueing that the GPL is invalid and that all GPL code is public domain...
o.O Then.. how would SCO have any reason, or hell validity (hold off the obviousness of that;) ), in suing someone for using code from public domain? That would also mean anything they do is also public domain. I seriously doubt that that is what they are intending by claiming GPL to be invalid. Probably more like all GPL code is copyrighted and thus NOT in public domain. I could be wrong.
No... when consumers have LESS to buy goods and services with (ie, they get taxed more on things), then they will buy less (obviously)... thus businesses will earn less. Of course, that is well and true, but the fact is, will this loss in earnings reach the sights of the employers or just fall onto the backs of the lower level employees? That's the crux of the problem in that statement. If they do feel it, then taxes on consumers will be felt by employers.
Here's a modest proposal: Microsoft should use some of its $49 billion hoard to mail an update CD to anybody who wants one. At $3 a pop (a liberal estimate), it could ship a disc to every human being on Earth -- and still have $30 billion in the bank.
Sorry, but AOL already has that mass-deployment patented.
Nooooooow...... explain how *YOU* would be able to backup items in an MMORPG without being seen as cheating?? (Oops! I lost my extremely-rare, nearly-godlike weapon... I know... My backup!) No, that is the responsibility of the game developers and those that administer the actual running of the game to maintain data integrity and correct/compensate for any glitches. Albeit, it's only a game, but a game that would go bankrupt if gamers weren't satisfied and left. Frankly, it's good coding practice to CYA in this instance, allowing for swift recovery of anything pertinent, however small it might be. Again, explain how a gamer is responsible for this? hmm?

Uh... self-healing? Can you imagine the trouble that would cause? Just think of what would happen when they become obsolete and you wish to destroy them... oops! They just heal themselves.
Probably a better solution is to make them functional even with significant levels of damage, riddling them with redundant systems that take over where the main systems fail or get destroyed.

Actually, both spellings are acceptable. It's like grey/gray. They both mean the same thing.
What's the address? Let's slashdot it. ^_^
Let's ask James Burke...
soccer
[From alteration of assoc., abbreviation of association football.]
That be where soccer comes from. And football is any game where a round/oval ball is kicked, carried or propelled into each other's goal.
And clicking the link for the omitted links... you get 5 results!!!! WOW!
"Fuck the remote, you're sitting on ME! Get up, you far bastard!"

You know, that typo actually made that funnier... at least to me.

Yeah, he seems to be missing that black metallic quality... but that just me.

New reality show... I can see it now: Survivor - The Martian Landscape...

Or... how about just a Noose? that would work too.
