"Slashdot should to change its moniker to "Jerry Springer for Nerds". All that's missing is a video feed of some grimy sweat pants wearing nerds furiously typing away virtual beatdowns over vi or emacs."
And if the image of the countdown is correct, it still has three years of support left. What is that, 13/14 years in total? Doesn't seem that shabby to me.
The UK, don't you mean the current tory government?
I liked this in the summary "no exhaust smells", sounds so much more cuddly than "breathing in carbon monoxide" and whatever else they spew into the city atmosphere.
In a way the decline reminds me of the local police - 30 or 40 years ago the local police were your friend - someone you could go to and talk to and who would be willing to help you out. These days it seems like you're best off staying as far away from the police as possible. Does anyone else see things in a similar way?
Do you mean back before the general public had access to miniaturised sound/video recording equipment and the vast communications networks we have today?
I can tell you from personal experience that the police have never been your cuddly friend
but the moment there's any risk -- even just the risk of losing our internet access or having a hassle at the airport security line -- we're all bitches. We're not really in a situation where we can afford to be anything else, I guess.
IT doesn't work that way in real life. I told a bunch of Jehova's witnesses that I was a Devil worshiper in order to get them to leave me along. This didn't work,
Blood and organ donor stickers on the front/street door work wonders here in the UK.;)
I have one of these.

No on/off switch at all.
Maybe they should get an injunction? ;)
Cheap laugh? I found the level of ignorance rather depressing.

I thought it was the government that creates laws?
"See? Right there. "110, 350 missing"!"
I see 110 dead and 350 missing.
Can you point us to the actual article from which you are quoting?
"We smashed the NAZIs,... and destroyed the commies"
Wasn't it those self same commies that got to Berlin first?

I had a similar problem. My twenty year old SNES cartridge just wouldn't work on my Wii no matter what I tried.
For your problem I would suggest:

And there will be tits on page 3?
Why do they eat cat shit?
Do YOU want to live in a windowless space?
Is that a trick question? ;)

"His 1952 MG also crumples up like a soda can in an accident"
His 1952 MG also has a chassis, so I doubt it will crumple like a soda can.
Chassis, something modern cars do not have.
turn into pressures?
Oh I get it, just more hyperbole that's guaranteed to get the colonial rebels frothing at the mouth? ;)
Better quality would make it easier to overdose, I would imagine.
