This series of movies doesn't even come close to the story-telling of the first series, which made those movies enjoyable even though the acting wasn't all that much better.
You think so? I didn't think the storytelling of the first series was that good, either. The only reason why I liked the series so much, was because I was 5 years old, and there was LASER-SWORDS. I tried watching it recently, and wow! that was a battle to see if I have earned my title of geek.
Granted, there were some cool-ass scenes, like in EPS where Yoda gives his "The Force is all around us" lecture to Luke. (For some reason, that's my favorite part of all the SW movies. I dunno, it must be the music.) But the majority of the movies contained campy dialogue, campy creature acting, and cheezy acting. Special effects was the only aspect of the movie that took itself seriously. Other than that, those movies were pretty terrible. Star Wars movies aren't meant to be taken seriously, unlike The Matrix or Lord of the Rings.
If I took my 5 year old kid to see the new SW movie tho, I'm sure he would love it, just like I loved the original series as a 5 year old kid. He wouldn't enjoy The Matrix, and he certainly wouldn't enjoy the Lord of the Rings. Different movies for different target audiences.
Giving Gollum some recognition is great and all, but when he wins it jointly with the little guy who jumped around like sonic the hedge hog wielding a light saber, it is lacking credibility.
Yoda didn't win for virtual peformance, he won an award for 'best fight scene.' So him spinning around with a lightsabre was what got him that award in the first place.
Personally I didn't think that lightsabre scene was as sacreligious as people claim it to be. If you take a real close look, you'll see that Yoda doesn't do as many blender-style-720-degree spins as his lightsabre movements imply. While he is spinning, he's also moving the lightsabre in the same direction, giving him more speed and force. I've seen enough Kali/Eskrima classes and demonstrations to be convinced that sometimes even the most simple movements can look overwhelming.
On a side note, I've also heard stories about an 80 year old Kali master who was able to hold his own against 3 young men in their 20's.
Basically Yoda's movements aren't necessarily impossible - difficult yes, but not impossible. If you wanna see impossible, wait for that scene where you see Neo spinning around like a top with that pole when he fights those Smiths. And flies away at the same time. And accelerates his spinning.
Actaully I was thinking that it was looked like Johnny 5's evil, big badass brother. Too bad it doesn't have a laser with that cool Knight Rider style light that moves back and forth.
I think he was referring to the Rubik's Magic Puzzle (not the cube), which can be solved in three seconds. I remember seeing the competitions on TV, during the 80's.
there are a billion, billion more address then known particles in the galaxy, however, what happens when a company purchases 665,570,793,348,866,943,898,598 of them?
you run out.
Ok, I'll have to agree with you, that we will run out of address when 551 TRILLION companies start buying 665,570,793,348,866,943,898,598 IP addresses.
There are other ways to go out with a bang. Throwing animals into a cage with a pitbull, IMO is tasteless. I don't understand how ppl get a kick out of abuse. That's just not cool.

German wines are typically sweet. I don't know too much about German wine laws, but I know that their wines are goverened by how much suger is in the grapes at harvest, regardless if the grape is ripe or not.
Another thing to note is that German wines have lower alcohol amounts (~9%) than regular wines (~12.5%), which makes it a very good starter wine, if you are trying to get into wine.
Spatlese are typically sweet, Auslese has even more sugar. Try to find a bottle with a good amount of acidity and WOW, it's amazing. Try it with meatloaf.:)
Eiswine definately has LOTS of sugar. But a good bottle will have enough acidity to balance out the sweetness, resulting in some very interesting taste-changing action in your mouth. Try it with a pastry, or a peice of cake.
It's completely unfair to compare California Cabs to French Bordeaux. First of all Boredeaux wines are always going to be blends of Merlot and Cab Sauv. While it is true that some Cali Cab makers also use Merlot to blend into their Cab labels, the amount of Merlot may be anywhere from between 10-2%. Bordeaux wines can have as much as 30% Merlot, depending on the year, the maker, etc.
The Californian product is even better than most French Bordeaux.
True, there are millions of gallons of French Bordeaux wines out there that just suck. But there are some nices ones out there as well. Chateau D`Armailhac is a 5th Growth, and for it's price it's quite excellent.
To be fair, California makes LOTS of mediocre Cab Sauvs as well. In fact, in these past few years there has been just TOO many grapes grown in california, resulting in a grape glut. Some of those grapes are just going to be used to make industrial alcohol (Italy does the same with their grapes). But a lot of these grapes are used to make cheap, terrible mass-produced wine (or brandy, or vodka).
My personal opinion is that Cali Cabs in general have too much tannin. Take a look at this year's Silver Oak. Bleah, I hate that. However, my favorite Cali Cab is Stags Leap SLV. I guess I could always age the wines, let the tannins soften up, but I hate the wait.:)
They are probably banking on the hopes that the majority of consumers will lose track of how much they have finally downloaded at the send of the day. You know, that warez mentality, where it's not about only getting the stuff you need, but just getting the most stuff, and hoping to find a use for it later. Or in this case, finding time to listen to it. I know I've been victim to that when I go on my mp3 binges.
I have a 1st gen Nforce mobo with built in video. The built-in video is supposed to have about the same general capabilities as a GeForce 2. The reason why I bought that mobo in the first place? Cause I didn't want to pay for a crappy video card, and didn't want to shell out $200+ for a GeForce 3 back then, let alone a GeForce 4.
I knew I was planning on upgrading. Just didn't know when.
Anyways, several months pass by, and I'm happy with my built-in video card. that is, untill I see my cousin's card, a 128 Mb Radeon 9000 Pro. Which cost him less than $180. Going to computer shows, I've been looking high and low for some decent GeForce3 that I could use, but it was still too expensive, let alone a GeForce 4. At that point, I've been seriously been thinking about getting an Ati video card, for my Nvidia Motherboard.
How Ironic that would have been.
I'm not bashing Ati at any means. They've finally got their drivers working, and all is good. It's just that I want matching brands inside my box. Really
Anyways, looking at the performance of the FX, looks like it's on par with the radeon 9000 pro. And the price is just about the same too. Looks like Nvidia is looking to attack the low/midrange market, going head to head with that 9000 Pro. Which is where I am exactly.
You think so? I didn't think the storytelling of the first series was that good, either. The only reason why I liked the series so much, was because I was 5 years old, and there was LASER-SWORDS. I tried watching it recently, and wow! that was a battle to see if I have earned my title of geek.

Seriously. Can it even tell the time? And where's my built-in toothpick and/or tweezers?? :-)

Those 80's movies were ahead of it's time!!
Nothing, unless that cluster is where the Star Wars galaxy is. Then it'll prolly sound like BOOOOM. :-)
.. was not the only thing hacked recently. :)
I think he was referring to the Rubik's Magic Puzzle (not the cube), which can be solved in three seconds. I remember seeing the competitions on TV, during the 80's.
Really?
Let's do the math then.
2^128 = 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,45 6
340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,45 6 - 665,570,793,348,866,943,898,598 = 340,282,366,920,937,797,892,581,258,564,824,312,85 8
Doesn't seem to make a big dent
Still not convinced? How about we found out how many companies can buy 665,570,793,348,866,943,898,598 ip addresses for themselves:
340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,45 6 / 665,570,793,348,866,943,898,598 = 511,263,971,197,990
Ok, I'll have to agree with you, that we will run out of address when 551 TRILLION companies start buying 665,570,793,348,866,943,898,598 IP addresses.
Use this for your calculations

First, dupe stories. Now, dupe comments. This is getting out of hand! :)
1 Kb = 2^10 bytes (1024)

1 Mb = 2^20 bytes (1048576)
1 Gb = 2^30 bytes (1073741824)
It was those damn lazy scientists! Now it's comin back to haunt us!

Sorta like how Counterstrike is a mod for halflife, which is based on old Quake 2 technology, right? Nobody plays counterstrike, right? Right?

Cause it cost zero dollars and some change, as opposed to 1 whole dollar. Who knows. Consumer perception.
Yeah, stuff like:
Phone Numbers
Email Address
Home Address
Social Security Number...
Crap. Can't win
