  2. two welcomed movies on Celsius 41.11: A Rebuttal to Michael Moore · · Score: 4, Insightful
Anyone that wants to refute Moore's film is really missing the point of the film. That being said the rebuttals are just a necessary as the original film.

Let me explain. Once you look past Mr. Moore's biased you'll see that the film is doing nothing more than asking the question that should have been asked by the media we already have in place. The media failed to do so, thus we have Moore's film filling in where they came up short. Does he get somethings wrong? Your goddamn right he does, but it doesn't mean we should ignore him completely.

Now the same can be said for the rebuttal. Moore's obviously put his own spin on things (as he should) after all, all he's doing is connecting dots to make a point. He most likely went overboard with some of his assumptions. Now I haven't seen the new movie yet, but lets hope it fills the holes in Moore's movie and is not just an outright attack on Moore (I hope this makes my own biased completely clear).

This shouldn't have to be said, but everyone should watch both movies and then make up their own minds.

My guess is they have to use the same hardware so no one has unfair speed advantage during a development compile. i.e. for debugging or a test run. And no I didn't read the article.

Though, MacUpdate is so much better, its Mac only, it has the Mac feel and is easier for user and developers to use. So, in a way MacUpdate is more complete.

I would encourage everyone to use MacUpdate instead of VersionTracker.

Now the slightly on topic part. You have to admit it's kind of funny that some guy is advertising in a post attached to a article about advertising.

Don't know about where you live, but around here, public schools get about 56% of our municipal budget, while the military gets 0%. Public schools also receive funding from the state, and again, the military does not.

Local taxes don't pay for the military. In the US we have this thing called Federal Income Tax that pays for the military. Also schools get federal funding not just state and municipal funding.

Sweet, I can't wait to vote for Kerry! I can't think of two things that will help this country more. This is not sarcasm, I'm completely serious. The military gets way too much of our money (hundreds of billions) imagine if just a fraction of that went to the schools. Also consider how nice it would be to have universal health care just by raising the taxes.

I could imagine at least two improvements: a split window with the history buffer, and better navigation of CLI text (perhaps using table cells).

Terminal.app already has these features. For a split view just click the little box above the scroll bar. For better navigation of text press cmd-i to bring up the Terminal Inspector -> select 'Emulation' from the pop up button -> click the checkbox labeled 'Option click to position cursor' -> click 'Use Setting as Defaults'. Enjoy.

No, this will probably help the Konfabulator people. Up until today I had no idea Konfabulator existed. Now that this is an Apple sanctioned technology people are going to go looking for new widgets. All the Konfabulator developers have to do is rewrite the widgets with the new APIs and they'll instantly expand their potential user base from the small minority of user that had heard of them to everyone who runs Tiger. Sound like a good thing to me.

Now on the other hand all this looks surprisingly similar to my own application Watch It. But I'm just going to rewrite it-- no bitching here. I was even thinking about writing a calculator using the same basic design, transparent and resizable. But I thought no one would use it so I haven't created the application which would be trivial. Now, however, I might reconsider writing it, because there are going to be a lot of users still using Panther and earlier after this comes out.
