"As we all know that Microsoft Vista was originally scheduled to be released in 2003, after two years of Windows XP, but it got delayed by over five years due to various reasons."
2003+5 = 2008. Man 2007 went fast.
that won't require me to sit in front of it removing spyware
Then for XP don't give them Admin privs on their normal accounts. It's not that hard to teach people to use the Admin account only for installing software.
Bottom line, it comes down to what UI you like better, and software availability. For most people either platform would work fine.
The work around with palm stuff is to give the user's account admin, install the palm software as them, and then take admin away. It should work w/o privs for that user then.
Of course, for PocketPCs it does work as the user....but you have to be logged into an admin account to install software to the handheld. Nic eif you want to control your user's handheld, but otherwise generally annoying.
My annoyance is most games require admin. (Even those from Microsoft studios.) About 60% work from run as.
With businesses able to host their own messaging servers behind the firewall and use it with Apple's included IM client, will this effect Jabber's overall share of the IM market?
Oh, definitely! In those businesses who are 100% Apple! Like Pixar, and, uh, Apple...:(
Better than seeing Intel(r) Inside on every business.

Ok, go ahead mod me as a troll.:)
XP is fundamentally different from 98. 2000 and XP could be argued as very similar.
Personally, I think that MS tax was pretty cheap compared to what I got.
I haven't upgraded this machine since 2001, and have gotten OS updates and features, and not paid another cent. Some new versions: DirectX, MovieMaker, WPA Auth. (There are probably more I can't think of.)
However, if it was OS X, in the same period of time I'd have had to pay $129 twice (about once per year) to get similar updates.
Now, it does steam me that for a linux laptop I couldn't avoid paying the tax. But for the gaming machine that $45 was well spent, and I probably won't have to buy a new OS for another two years.
One student job I had, a user had drawn a line down the screen at column 72, where this particular xterm lay on the screen. Why? So he could write fortan in it of course!
The funny/sad thing was one of his specialties was supposed to be user interface. He wasn't please when the X10 to X11 upgrade moved the windows. Plus the line was in permanent marker.
I shopped for a house with electricity in mind, and even then it was difficult. I had to get a house built in the mid eighties or later (true grounds, no aluminum wiring), and I wanted 150 amp or more service.
Even then I ended up running additional circuits to the garage for tools and lights, basesmet for tools, network, and server. The upstairs room I picked for the desktops had randomly been assigned two different circuts for the wall outlets.
I don't know what I'd do for power in a 10x15 dorm room, and probably as importantly air conditioning! Plus, at my university, I'd be afraid of the power. The u's electricians seem to have a habit of reversing hot and neutral, and in my machine room a new outlet's ground to neutral was -50 VAC. So power strips wouldn't be enough, you'd need a multimeter as well. heh.
It's at 19 South and 169 West, near Samoa and Tonga, and has a max elevation of 732. Mostly limestone upthrust, so some neat caves. And they claim to be rarely hit by hurricanes. Lots of costline, beaches and reefs too! It sounds positively gorgeous.
On my map, which is about 5 years old, it claims to be owned by NZ...but the web site only says associated with NZ.
Mmm...they grow Taro and bananas...both make excellent ice cream and bubble tea.
I say it's time for another vacation! Let's start the/. travel agency!
Again, if something is used, taxes have already been paid
Someone brought up used CDs, but that's retail, and I can see that...somewhat for the service of the aggregator.
The most glaring one around here is buying a used car from a private party. Every time that car is sold, it gets taxed again (as the registration changes). That to me is clear double taxation.
I don't think your comment really is a rhetorical question.
I supposed some people would rather be undisturbed and be surprised on return to the office.
Personally, if there's a problem with my server, I really would rather be informed before some tech at RedHat/Sun/IBM/Microsoft/Apple has someone make changes to it.
Customer satisifaction? Get real. Most people assume that when their computer breaks, its because they did something wrong.
Ha! What planet are you on? When their computer breaks most people assume the crashes aren't KaZaa, Gator, and every other thing they can't resist clicking on. No, not that! It's their computer sysadmin buddy who showed them how to plug in their USB flash drive.
Me? Bitter? No, not at all.:)
A web search gives: Dogcow.
Thus you sir, need to get your facts right before slamming the OP.

So no more Warcrack until January. Well, at least, no less either.

It's been reverse engineered! Here come the lawsuit! :)

or UV blacklight, so I can see my grinning teeth in the monitor as i frag!
Yeah, and like picking the flow control combination wasn't the most asinine idea ever.
Now perhaps not so bad....but back in the days of modems? bleech.
Consider getting desktop cases and putting them in a cheap stereo cabinet?
Some of the new mini-atx, and smaller cases from Antec (like the Minuet) and Shuttle would be quiet and fit the bill.
You'd think they would at least have the info to make it work right w/o admin.
"Ask me about Microsoft products!"
We were afraid he's get into a fight with one. :)

Mocha Soft makes a really good SSH client for PPC. Pair it with a thumb keyboard and wireless card, and you're good to go.
It's got a relatively nag free trial mode, and is one of the cheaper ($25) ones to boot! Two thumbs up! (Or on the keyboard.) :)
