I can think of half a dozen recent R-rated movies that are at least as violent if not worse than GTA games. You don't hear any senators talking about how said movies are leading the youth of America down a violent path. If Ms. Clinton or Senator Liberman were to speak out against say, "Kill Bill" it would be lauded as censorship!
Yet they continually attack the games industry for producing "grown-up" entertainment. I know several parents who don't even realize their kids' games have a rating system. The fact of the matter is that the movie ratings system is more strictly adheared to by society. Parents need to realize a rated M game equals a rated R movie!
What our beloved senators should be fighting against is the complete lack of parenting going on in this country. At the risk of opening a can of worms, I can think of only one reason they won't. Parents=Votes! "gotta get re-elected... can't blame the voters...(whistles)...heeeeeere little scapegoat!"
Adam
P.S. I should proabably mention I don't play the GTA series as I PERSONALY don't care for the violence.
Symetrical sticks are nice, but hell if I know why they can't put it above your thumb where it belongs... the stick simply ought to be where the 8 way pad is located... end of story

How can they offer bug fixes/upgrades if they aren't packing the hard drive in standard? I suspect the majority of Xboxers probably won't buy it... that is unless Bill and Co. decide to screw everyone and require it, forcing the consumer to spend above and beyond the sticker price
Speaking of buy...
I'm trying to determine which next generation console I should buy. It seems to come down to the Playstation ThrEA, the NintEA-endo, or the EA Box. What looks good to You?

Fact of the matter is "The Best Titles" end up on Gamecube. Nintendo may have it's missteps, but designing Great, innovative software isn't one of them.

"But what about those of us that want a cool-looking game, as opposed to cutesy-looking? What about those of us that'd rather be playing a new Metal Gear than a new Mario?"
I'm sure "those of you" who would rather be playing a new metal gear are the same "those of you" who will bitch about the Card (think Yu-gi-oh) combat system. This ain't your typical Metal Gear game man.
As a nintendo fanboy, this announcement neither surprises me nor makes me mad. I wish I had source, but I read something last year(probably at IGN.com) when viewtiful joe for PS2 was announced that the "fab five" exclusivity deal was no more. I don't think there are any broken promises. It's Just business.
While not a fan of the series, I am glad Capcom is offering RE4 as a "Game Cube First title." it will drive system sales at least a bit, and while I am a true Nintendo fan, I am also a realist, and realize that Capcom is out first, and foremost to make money...You can't argue that the PS2 has far outsold the GCN in terms of units, and will probably move more copies of RE4. If somebody is actually a rabid Resident Evil fan, then the GCN should be their system of choice anyway. the entire series is available on it(excluding some bizre first person game, and resident evil online..Poor reviews for both) ane we have REzero. Now, for any of you who want to know where the REAL quality gaming will be this holiday season, make sure to pick up your copy of Metroid Prime2!
I have to admit that, as a Nintendo fan, I was saddened by the loss of Rare. However, seeing their recent work(or lack thereof) on Xbox, I think Nintendo did the right thing. Let M$ have em!
I realize this price info is probably fake. It isn't nearly as off-puting as Sony's official announcement that there would probably never be a way to write to a UMD!
I'l be damned if I would ever buy a movie in that format. They also seem to remain erily silent about battery life concerns. If it doesn't play movies, and has poor batery life, then it's JUST a game console and doesn't warrent nearly as much, whatever the price will be. If they can get to a $200 level, the MIGHT have a chance.
I would have to agree that marketing is their tour de force. It just goes to show that if you throw enough money at something it will be a success. I honestly thought after the first year the XBox was history, but they have certainly become a successfull game system. I believe that it's because they got so many systems out the door in the first year that they got so many great titles... well that, and their ability to flat out purchase anything they don't have (Bungie, Rare, etc.)

Check out this shareware app

It lets you turn your trackpad into a "scroll wheel", and assign one of the corners as a RIGHT clicker... does a bunch of other things too.
You can badmouth the N64, or the loss of SNES CD and even the Small disks on GC, but when someone calls the first innovative controller since the classic NES days an abortion, I draw the line. It may have been a bit oversized, but without it where would either the analog stick, or the rumble feature be today. It's like calling the Wright Flyer an Abortion just because it only went a few feet!

It's the only game my Wife will play with me. For Hell's Sake! We saw the first screenshots two years ago. Every time I get a new video game magazine she wants to know if ther is anything new about Mario Tennis!
There is no convincing me the 'Cube controller is anything short of a miracle. They may or may not have made other mistakes, but this is something the got RIGHT! First of all, Sony's controller has the analog stick in the wrong place. It was an ad-on for PS1 and never migrated to the right place on PS2. I feel like a contortionist just trying to go forward. And as for X-box... sure the controller is ok... EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT'S ONLY SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN THE STATE OF RHOADE ISLAND! These other systems could learn a lot from Nintendo's controller.
Hey! I am a die-hard Nintendo gamer. I have owned just about every piece hardware they ever built.(Even Rob the Video Robot!) Anyway my opinion is a bit biased but I have to share it. Nintendo isn't going anywhere. They do currently operate at a niche level, but they make THE BEST games out there. You can bag on their third party support all you like, but let's not forget they have been pitching woo at some very big names and we are seeing the results. Final Fantasy, a game I thought would never return to the N, is back and with all new gameplay! Sure you can say it's not a true FF game but lets be honest the whole FF series is geting a bit long-winded. A new gameplay style makes me excited to play FF again!
And let's not forget Solid Snake's return to the platform who spawned him. (MGS is the one game that made me swoon with envy over the PS owners) Finaly! Nintendo die-hards rejoyce!

I seem to remember reading about this great game for the NES called Doki Doki Panic... Man I wonder whatever happend to that game?
Don't forget to include subpar graphics, horible control, and the chance to fall to your death every 15 seconds.
