Well, in fact, you didn't pay $60 to hear the stuff you like, because you didn't hear the stuff you like! You paid $60 and got to see David Bowie, which I'm sure is exactly what was advertised. Did it say on the ticket 'David Bowie plays Sufragette City and other assorted hits' or 'David Bowie in Concert'?
I can understand if you weren't happy with it, but c'mon! The guy still wants to be creatively viable, not a dinosaur. Anytime you see a concert, you get to see what the band wants to play; it's not a movie!
I paid $60 to hear the stuff I like - his old stuff. David Bowie *knows* this and decided to play his new shit that's just awful.
No, you paid $60 to see and hear David Bowie put on a concert. If you just want to hear what you want to hear, buy a friggin' CD.
I saw Neil Young'a 'Greendale' concert, and people were bitching about the same thing. They missed a great concert because they were in such a twist to hear 'Cinnamon Girl' for the 50,000th time.
Maybe you're not trolling, but you ARE stupid if you watched 6(!) films that you didn't like on opening night.
I don't really like Star Wars very much either, but at least I don't camp out to see them and then complain.
I would be MORE then happy to shell out $5 to simply not go through the bother of getting it via bit-torrent and all the irritation that finding a decent connection can bring
Say you pay $50 a month for standard cable (I think that's a pretty middle of the road figure.) You'd pay TEN PERCENT of an entire month's television for one show? Suppose the show is available over the air, you'd pay $5 dollars for something that is free?
Not a chance, you'd download it for free just like you do now. They should put the stuff out there for free download, leave the appropriate commercials in for the area. Maybe pull the download after the end of the season. Anything else, imho is stupid and will fail. $5 is twice what the episode probably costs if you buy the DVD set. If you went to a store looking for a season of BG, would you hold the box and say 'Hmmm, I can buy this and get menus, a commentary, and DVD quality picture, or I could go home and download a copy, with commercials, not have any physical media, and pay only twice as much?'
Just a quick question - how much do you need to have seen the series to enjoy the movie? I've just been watching it for the first time on scifi, and haven't seen all of the episodes yet (last one shown was called 'Ariel') I don't want to see the movie and spoil the rest of the televised run, or not understand the movie because of the ones I haven't seen.
Just wondering, thanks.
I don't think it's that movies are necessarily worse than they used to be. I used to go to lots of movies, and lots of them sucked. The ones that I didn't go to, I'd usually rent, if it was a genre that I liked. Lots of them sucked too.
Now though...man, I have a hard time even renting a movie anymore. I feel like I've seen them all before. I'm so sick of all the 'stars'. I'm so sick of sequels and remakes, both the overt ones, and movies that aren't *really* remakes, but are exactly the same as 10 other movies I've seen. It's no wonder the theatres are so full of kids nowadays, at least it's a movie they maybe haven't seen; I usually have.
Pictures please? Preferably a before picture with her glasses on and her hair in a bun, then an after one with her glasses off and her hair cascading down in waves.
Where can I find a video of the Star Wars Holiday Special?? I've heard it's sooooo bad that Lucas has done all he can to make it unavailable, which is the only thing that makes me want to see it.
I once felt like you. Trust me, you don't want to see it. It's not like so bad it's kind of good, or really bad in a kitschy sort of way. It's so bad that it saps your will to live and leaves you lusting for revenge.
This is maybe somewhat off-topic, but I'd really like to try garageband. Can any mac afficionado's tell me what type of hardware I'd be liable to need? Imac, emac, powermac, mac mini, ibook, powerbook? G4, G5? Is there any additional hardware/software I'd need, or would the computer come ready to go?
Sorry if this is dumb, but I find mac nomenclature incredibly confusing.

It's pretty funny. Every day it seems like I come across a thread where everyone's trying to outdo everyone else with the awesomeness of their systems, now you're all going the other way.
To be fair to Lucas, whatever his talents may or may not be, I think the idea of making 3 'prequels' was inherently flawed and no one could have made them better than 'alright'.
JJ Abrams and his WHAT????

I wish I knew if you are being serious or not. If you're not, I think you're hilarious. If you are, I think you're frightening.
No, no, The 5 Doctors was filmed specially for Children in Need.
And that was the sound of the point flying over your head.

Man, I would rather listen to three hours of my colon gurgling that three hours of The Eagles.

Ummm, reference, like, everly /. post made since 1998 for the answer to that one.
You're right, but you're about nine years out of date :) Now it's AROW with one 'r'
:)
A=Airworthiness Certificate
R=Registration
O=Operating limitations
W=Weight and balance

This is just the flight instuctor in me coming out, I don't mean to bore almost everyone
You don't need a radio license anymore either (if you're in the USA anyway.)
That's the tradeoff of not having a life, and being able to make everything revolve around work.
What in the hell are you talking about?
No, you use the toothpaste to fill in the holes in the wall after you move.
It's strange, I've never been able to make myself watch Enterprise, but I'm still a little sad.
Dear lord, that was painful.
