I just wanted to say that the book (David Simon's Homicide) is a very popular book.

It was the basis for the NBC TV show. It's by no means a "how to get away with murder" book.
You might as well convict the guy for having C.S.I:Miami DVDs.

While this latest development (tee-hee) is a little sad, the software is still fantastic.

The same can be said for winternal's tools and winamp. I still use both of these products. Winamp was bloated

You're right on. I was watching the Frontline documentary on AIDS recently. They talk about all the right wing conservative christians (Fatso Dennis Hastert was prominently featured) who were against public funding for any kind
of research into AIDS. Figuring that AIDS was only a gay, drug-addic, prostitute disease, and as such was a punishment from god.

They still do it by funding mostly abstinance based sexual education domestically and abroad.

Are these all personal anecdotes? You must be the unluckiest person in the world. Frank Grimes unlucky. I've only had one rebate be invalid. And it was because there were two seperate rebates for a single product. And I sent a copy of the UPC to the one that needed an original. The terms were a little ambiguous, but that's still only one rebate out of dozens I have done succesfully. If people read the fine print, and are organized (copy EVERYTHING. keep notes of what you sent where, and when you sent it) and are patient, then rebates are a great way to save money. I worry that OfficeMax will stop doing free-after-rebate items now that the mail-in-rebates are instant-rebates.

They all are animated comedies centered around a family, but they are all different types of shows.

If you came in expecting Family Guy (Which I imagine a lot of people were), you were dissapointed. But American Dad is a fantastic show. It has plotlines that are written like a regular live-action television show. It's a more serious and contemplative show than Family Guy. It's still funny, just in a different way than Family Guy.

  20. Private Servers on MMOFPS Games The Next Big Thing? · · Score: 3, Interesting

I would definitely love a MMOFPS.
    RPGs bore me to tears.

I think instead of having a big server where everyone connects to, it would be nice to have individual private servers like FPS use now.

However, they would be overseen by a master server (sort of like how they implement anti-cheating and anti-piracy now). So that your "profile" would carry with you. So each individual server could be like a country. With set dimensions, and rules, maybe even textures. And once you reach the limits of the server you are on, you would connect to another server. And the servers would be arranged on the master server by latency. So that if you live on the east coast, you would get the best pings on east coast servers. But you could still travel to the west coast servers, and that would add a different dimention to the game.

That I imagine would defray the cost, so that no monthly fees would be needed. And yes, you would depend on the kindness (and uptime) of strangers, but that community (strangers hosting CS, TFC, CoD, BF, Q3 servers) sprung up out of nowhere and it's very robust.
