I just wanted to say that the book (David Simon's Homicide) is a very popular book.
It was the basis for the NBC TV show. It's by no means a "how to get away with murder" book. You might as well convict the guy for having C.S.I:Miami DVDs.
While this latest development (tee-hee) is a little sad, the software is still fantastic.
The same can be said for winternal's tools and winamp. I still use both of these products. Winamp was bloated for a few versions, but the latest lite version is just as good as any pre-AOL version.
>> Sounds a lot like modern American Evangelical Christians. Only the degree in which they want to "punish" the "infidels" is different.
You're right on. I was watching the Frontline documentary on AIDS recently. They talk about all the right wing conservative christians (Fatso Dennis Hastert was prominently featured) who were against public funding for any kind of research into AIDS. Figuring that AIDS was only a gay, drug-addic, prostitute disease, and as such was a punishment from god.
They still do it by funding mostly abstinance based sexual education domestically and abroad.
So you can use control + F to open up the find in page dialog,
but how do you close it?
Escape if the text box has focus, but what if it doesn't?
Control + F should close the search box if it is pressed twice.
Or another control + key combo.
Are these all personal anecdotes?
You must be the unluckiest person in the world. Frank Grimes unlucky.
I've only had one rebate be invalid. And it was because there were two seperate rebates for
a single product. And I sent a copy of the UPC to the one that needed an original. The terms were a little ambiguous, but that's still only one rebate out of dozens I have done succesfully.
If people read the fine print, and are organized (copy EVERYTHING. keep notes of what you sent where, and when you sent it) and are patient, then rebates are a great way to save money. I worry that OfficeMax will stop doing free-after-rebate items now that the mail-in-rebates are instant-rebates.

Family Guy seems to be doing well on it's return.
Also, if you decided no to watch "The Office(US)" because you didn't think it was authentic, you should give it a legitimate shot. It's turned into a great show in its own way. And that it's preceded by another fantasticly well made comedy (My Name Is Earl), makes must-see-tv must-see.
I love craigslist. But wouldn't it be effective if people could flag the types of posts that these measures are trying to curb? "Flag this message 'dickwad'"
See, American dad is as similar to Family guy, as Family Guy was to The Simpsons. They all are animated comedies centered around a family, but they are all different types of shows.
If you came in expecting Family Guy (Which I imagine a lot of people were), you were dissapointed. But American Dad is a fantastic show. It has plotlines that are written like a regular live-action television show. It's a more serious and contemplative show than Family Guy. It's still funny, just in a different way than Family Guy.
You know, I love futurama as much as the next geek, but CBS runs "60 minutes" at 7pm on sundays, and it is always being run over by football. And it's still one of the top rated shows.
Your local library should have a collection of the Pimsleur tapes/cds.
if not, hit usenet : alt.binaries.world-languages posts a lot of
this stuff in mp3
I would definitely love a MMOFPS. RPGs bore me to tears.
I think instead of having a big server where everyone connects to, it would be nice to have individual private servers like FPS use now.
However, they would be overseen by a master server (sort of like how they implement anti-cheating and anti-piracy now). So that your "profile" would carry with you. So each individual server could be like a country. With set dimensions, and rules, maybe even textures. And once you reach the limits of the server you are on, you would connect to another server. And the servers would be arranged on the master server by latency. So that if you live on the east coast, you would get the best pings on east coast servers. But you could still travel to the west coast servers, and that would add a different dimention to the game.
That I imagine would defray the cost, so that no monthly fees would be needed. And yes, you would depend on the kindness (and uptime) of strangers, but that community (strangers hosting CS, TFC, CoD, BF, Q3 servers) sprung up out of nowhere and it's very robust.

Colbert is a genius.

Here is how he got his doctorate in fine arts, from a Wired magazine piece on him earlier this year:
"I have a doctorate in fine arts from Knox College in Illinois. All I did was give a speech, and now everybody has to call me Dr. Colbert."

Elect putin in 2008.
He's a guy i'd like to have a beer with.
And some polonium pretzels.
This was Richard Dawkins (Evolutionary Biologist, University of Oxford) in a November 2006 article in Wired magazine.
Interesting article.
Nay! Well, I say nay.

And nobody cared. It certainly didn't make slashdot. I guess that answers the question, if a tree falls in the woods, does it make a sound?

In a van, down by the river, you insensitive clod.
To give credit where credit is due and because the show is genius, this is from the colbert report:

maybe a bookfair?
It's my sex box...
And her name is Sony
It's like, how much more black could this keyboard be? and the answer is none. None more black.
I prefer the Zapp Brannigan school.
Recite as many of these lines as fast as you can
"I find the most erotic part of the woman to be the boobies"
"If I said you had a great body would you take off your clothes and dance around a little."
I don't think I have had one all year. The last one I remember was when I was doing some intensive testing of my new CD-RW drive.
