Sure. www.drudgereport.com.
You're missing the point of this article. Most of the rest of us haven't seen a popup in forever either. But a month or two ago one or two broke through some of us, and in the past few weeks I've noticed it more and more. Just because *you* didn't get any doesnt' mean it's not happening.
If you dont' get a popup at drudge, you must have adblock installed or something, because I've been getting popups there for about three days. Since I switched to Firefox 7 I have NEVER seen one at that site, or any other.
What is this? A post to some guy's game-related blog? Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I have no clue who the author of the posted article is, nor any indication why I should care.
Why is his opinion even important, or relevent? Is/. this strapped for gaming stories? Thumbs down.
Predictability: All NPC's should have loot and players should have a rough idea of what loot is available from which NPC and to some degree the lewt should be phat.
It's easy to say that kind of thing now, Mr. Monday Morning Quarterback. But keep in mind that just over 100 years ago Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, and not to mention ABSTRACT ART, had never really been done before. New tools were encouraging new ways of thinking. Photography challenged the traditional notion of painting and it didn't just end with art. Show me the Eiffel Towers before wrought iron.
Man, even sans serif type isn't that old, and there you're talking about a completely new way of writing English. This idea that even 100 years ago everything was being stolen is off base, if that was even your point.
I COMPLETELY agree with you. Retro... Fuck Retro... The biggest problem with the 2000's (yes, STILL no one knows what to call them, four years into the deal) is that there is we still haven't moved in any one direction, there is no identity. Retro isn't huge just because everyone who grew up in the 80's has money now... There's this RANDOM lack of creativity. I'm not saying that *I* have the answer, or the vision for the 21st century... But I am saying that 100 years ago people were DEFINING a new century, not dredging up an old one.
"Hey dad, can I go outside and play?" That's what most kids say to their parents. But one day Michael Cohen's daughter said, "Hey, dad, can I go into my picture and play?" And he said yes.
I don't think you're thick, you're just not understanding what kind of service they claim to be providing, and what they're supposed to be competing with.
Google News is a news aggregator. It's essentially like having Superman as your paperboy. Go to one site, get news from everywhere. Google shows no bias, which is exactly why *I* started using it (and I know I'm not alone in this fact).
Look, here's the thing: Most news sources run stories from all over the place--affiliates, reuters, AP--but they're usually biased to some degree. With Google News you finally had a source that was robotic in it's ambivalence, something many people have been looking for for years. I would argue that the entire reason for Google News' success lies on it's unbiased nature.
So...If you wanted to compete with a product whose success rested on it's unbiased nature...Why would you introduce a biased product? That's the point, my friend. (Of course, the only way MS knows how to win is through tactics like these, but moves like this one still come as a shock.)
Just for fun, look at the shadow of the Imperial Shuttle in this screenie.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
The 12-step program is one of the things discussed in the summary! I know it sounds like a joke, bu there really *IS* one now!
...right out of my mouth. I was thinking the exact same thing. Who the hell writes these things?

Wait, this is from Landover Baptist? That's like the Christian version of the Onion. This is pathetic, who posted this as real? Get a clue, man.

Ugh...
This relates to a recent article in WIRED regarding the declining power of name brands in general. Consumer research seems to indicate that more and more people are starting to realize that quality requires more than just a popular name.
What are you, the George Lucas of grammar? I agree with the other poster. I've seen much worse--MUCH worse.
Of all the sites to NOT be slashdotted, *this* piece of shit survives.
Insightful? Um, parent was being sarcastic.

Deus Ex gets my vote. It's got a pretty hefty Mod community going to.
