"...it's certainly illegal for people in the US to download from these guys..."
Care to cite your source on that statement? I really am curious. I see people making this claim all the time, however no one cites a source, they just provide conjecture.
Tell me: How many open rendering bugs are their in IE? Oh, wait, YOU CAN'T (unless your a microsoft developer. If that's the case, When the hell are you going to fix it?).
Trying to do CSS layout in IE is a giant pain in the ass, thanks to its insufferable interpretation of layout attributs...
Oh, boy... That's a way to rile up the GOP mods... Mention Hillary.
I've noticed that as a tactic on Talk radio. When the calls start slipping off, just meniton Hillary. You'll get all the detractors coming out in droves.
Man.... Please tell me they're really going to ship those... I'd love to have one. although, I wouldn't need the Sun thing. I've got a window seat. Looks out over the Georgia Tech stadium...
"After all, your confidence in big bang, gravitational theory and evolution is based purely on theory..."
Well, evolution is always going to be a theory. It can never, ever be proved as absolute fact (barring time travel). We can't got back 200 million years, check a couple of animals/plants, and skip forward every couple of million years to verify evolution. The only resort is to craft a theory that matches the evidence.
"Because evolution was simply given the occasional prod in the right direction by an entity, lets call it God."
Not that it means anything to you, but you've earned a couple of knotches of respect from me for that statement. Its much easier to have a rational conversation with a person who is willing to adapt their views, rather than hold steadfast to them in light of serious evidence.
For what its worth, I wouldn't call myself a Christain. I do believe in a higher power, I'm just not sure the Christain God-paradigm is believeable.
With that said, the universe is a very complex balance. Take water, for instance. Its one of the only substances that its solid form floats in its liquid form. Without that fact, oceans would have never melted, rendering life (as we know it) un-attainable.
I'm willing to believe in a figure who occasionally nudges things in the right direction, than I am to believe of a omnipotent father-figure...
Yeah.... That's republicans for you. There're all about freedom and less government, till it comes to things they personaly don't like. I bet the thought of China getting ahold of some small part of IBM is just making some of those WASPs cringe....
SS is just another slight of hand. His proposal is not that different from the British system implemented under Margrett Thatcher. And look how well that turned out.
His plan is just an excuse to give more money to investment houses...
Obesity is listed as the cause of around 50,000 deaths per year in America - you want to wager on how many of those people have eaten at Mickey D's within the last year?
Yes, but they ate there of their own valition... I was never given a vote for the Iraq war.... And the people I voted didn't win their election... Where's my representation?
Fear and Terror are powerful motivating factors. As long as the Republican machine can convience us that the cause of such factors is 'over there', we'll continue to treat those problems as issue number 1, and NOT focus on the real problems here.
Its called slight of hand. Magician's do it all the time... "Here, watch my left hand, while my right hand does the really important stuff...."
I don't think the average American has much of an idea about what's going on over the Atlantic, less still what those over the Atlantic think of America and the people in charge of America. They really should try listening.
Unfortunatly, most of my countrymen, if they cared to listen, would either ignore or not believe what the heard. Failing those two, they just wouldn't care. I'm not saying that America's foremost interest should be what the rest of the world thinks, but, on the other hand, we can't bury our heads in the sand and pretend that we can operate in sometime of isolationist vaccuum.
Here's the question I'm trying to wrap my brain around: Is Bush simply mis-guided into thinking he's making things better, or is he truely devious in nature, intentionally misleading the American people with nefarious intent. The jury's still out on that one I believe. I have a hard time swallowing the idea that he could be so devious. However, that's his strategy: underestimation. We all spend so much time thinking he's a moron, that we he finishes a sentence, we want to give him a cookie for a job well done.
Domestically, I detest most of his policies (no child left behind, faith based inititives, tax cuts, deficit spending, gay marriage, etc). Its almost like we moved BACKWARDS...
Maybe the election would have turned out different if the Democrats would have run nobody. Then, Bush couldn't have said: "Yes, I am a boob. But he's (points at Kerry) an even bigger boob."
Its not so much the idea of an exclusive contract that bothers me. Its the end around they did to secure the market. I know, I live in a polyanne world, but I thought that a person||company could win the market by making a superior product.
And competition is NOT alive and well in the football video genre. What insentive does EA have to improve? If you want a pro football game, you have to go to EA. The next version of Madden will probably be just a re-hash of this year's version, with roster updates. On top of all that, EA will probably have to charge more for it, just to pay off the loads of cash they've had to float to the NFL, AFL, and ESPN. (I still don't see how they are going to make a profit from that...).
And stop lumping everybody together as 'the slashdot crowd'. Not all of us applaud Apple's use of DRM. Personally, I hate it (that, and 1.00 per song. Ever hear of AllOfMP3.com?). I bought it. I should get to use it. That's why I've made a personal choice to NOT buy from iTunes.
stratjakt's comments are made when peering through your navel, with your head shoved far up your ass, with a huge frigging chip on his shoulder.
The problem with being unemployed is that everyday is your day off, so you never do anything. You just sit back, and think: 'Eh, I'll do it tommorrow. What've I got to do?'. Then, you crank up Madden, and kick some more Patriot butt...
Oh... and this whole privitization scheme concocted by Bush and Co. ISN'T a fraud? The administrative cost of SS is about 1% of every dollar taken in. The avearge administrative cost of a typical investment house? 10%. Not to mention that other countries that tried to privitize their govn pensions have, at best, broke even. Have a look at the UK.
Yeah, cause our own government (the US) doesn't use propaganda at all. Nope. Never seen it. Nothing out of the White House (no matter who sits in it) has ever had ANY spin on it what so ever. Its all even handed truth.
Tell you what, I got some ocean front property I'm willing to part with. Interested?
Most people that hold MBA's aren't worth the paper their MBA's are printed on...
The United States Code... Well, that certainly is a source ;). Thank for the info, I'll give it a read...

Yeah, I'm getting that too under Linux. The Help->About works fine under windows...
Next thing you know, I'm looking at a dual 2.5GHz Power Mac and a 30" Cinema display. I just don't know where to stop!
Then I say: "Forget it. I'll stick with my linux box."
Man.... Please tell me they're really going to ship those... I'd love to have one. although, I wouldn't need the Sun thing. I've got a window seat. Looks out over the Georgia Tech stadium...

However, aren't developers still releasing titles for the PS1? That system's like 7 years old, now....
PHP: True cross-platform programming... ;)

I really wish slashdot would re-tool their site with a table-less layout. Its not that hard to do, and think of all the bandwidth they'd save!
You can't use the names, but I assume you could use their numbers, and 'abilities', no? Should be the same for a true college football fan.

Bush is clearly faning the flames of crisis to generate a windfall for his friends at the investment houses...
How about 'Kick Rick Berman: The Movie'. I'd pay to see...
Where they good princeples to begin with?
Or are they just seen as good principles because we've been trained to use them over 20 years.
