  1. Find a study group on How Do You Get Work Done? · · Score: 1

I was in the exact same boat as you, and I found that the only thing that actually got me to sit my butt down and study and get something done was to study with some friends. If you don't have any friends in your classes, now's the time to make some! :)

  2. I hope Disney realizes... on Disney to Make Movies Available Online · · Score: 1

I hope Disney realizes that this will up the amount of illegal downloading of movies online. All it takes is one person to 'buy' each movie, and send it out over the internet. They're making it too easy!

  3. mp3.com tried something similar to this on Cringely Proposes a Music Sharing Alternative · · Score: 1

mp3.com tried something similar to this just a few years ago. They purchased CDs, converted them to mp3s, and put them up on a special section of their website. After proving that the user actually owns the CD they are about to download by putting it in their CD-ROM drive (not sure what kind of verification was used to verify that they are a match), the user was able to download the mp3(s) for free.
Needless to say, mp3.com was sued and lost.

  4. AOL users (slightly OT) on Swiss Researchers Exploit Windows Password Flaw · · Score: 1

Back in the day (over 5 years ago), I read about how it was not too hard to get passwords from AOL users. A simple trojan virus disguised as a spam blocker or whatnot would do the trick. Even Host and Guide accounts were easy to crack with their simple passwords such as "qwerty" and "john1234", giving you not only overhead access, but credit card/bank info as well.
Password flaw? Big deal...it's not too hard to get the same information and more by other means.

Dubya should take notes and take heed. We have the capabilities to recycle, but we just don't put them to good use. My neighborhood is not very recycle-friendly when it comes to aluminum, glass, or plastic, but when it comes to batteries, we've got to be the recycling kings!

  6. Re:Time for the Customary Freenet Reference :) on The RIAA's Hit List Named · · Score: 1

Freenet should up their advertising for their service. They could be banking a lot of dough right about now if they do.

  10. A bit too small on Fossil/Palm PDA Watch Reviewed · · Score: 1

Palm pilots have limited sized screens as it is, now they want to make a watch PDA? Sure, technology may allow it, but is it really practical? They better have a great warranty on the scroll button. :)

  15. Freedom Fries! on French Government Bans Term 'E-Mail' · · Score: 1

You're right - the reason why they're called french fries is because that's how they are made...they're "frenched".
Side note: French fries are now called "freedom fries" in certain gov't buildings. Could things get any more ridiculous?
