My local game store is just writing people's names down on a list with their phone numbers. As they get stock in they're going to call you and if you already have one they'll move to the next person on the list. Hopefully I'll get one launch day from there but it's nice as it makes me free to get one elsewhere if I see it.
I personally weigh movies on a number of different factors. I might give 3 stars to a movie because it has 4 of my favorite actors in it even if I didn't care for the plot. I might give 3 stars to a different movie with horrible acting but interesting camera angles (From Dusk Til Dawn 2). I tend to average out my ratings dependent on many things a movie has to offer.
The problem is is that that is my rating system. It works for me. But it does little good to anybody else because they are rating based purely on something else.
I think they need to implement the ability to rate more aspects of the movie. I'm sure some people out there rate the movie poorly if their disc is scratched or the transfer quality is poor even. A simple 1 to 5 system doesn't cut it. People rate things that aren't "Was the (romance) plot good?", "Do you like this director?", "Do you like these actors?". People rate things that aren't on the box.
I spent maybe 6-8 hours beating the game the first time through on normal difficulty, then played it on hard and beat it in less than 3 hours (easier when you know exactly what to do of course). I then got every secret available. I know I spent less than 20 hours on this game and I'm pretty sure most of the complaints I read on Tomb Raider forums was that the game was too short...
The only games I ever expect to take 40+ hours are RPGs.
You know how you could download most (if not all) of Half Life 2 before it was out, then on release day BOOM you could play it?
Why not the same with TV shows? Get a Season Pass to Lost, it preloads the morning of and knows that at 7pm in your time zone (or whatever time it's on) that you are now allowed to watch that content from your iTV.
I know a lot of people here want to pick what cable channels they have and pay a smaller price... it'd be almost nicer to just pick the shows.
That's the style EQ2 uses I believe. I don't play EQ2 anymore (only hit 14 or so and got bored) but you would start off as a generic class and around level 10 you'd specialize more then at some higher level (20 or 30 I think) you'd delve to your final class.
Can't say why WotC wasn't at Origins but I'm pretty sure WotC runs Gen-Con these days which would explain why they were there out of the two. That may even be why they weren't at the other.
But the 360 doesn't require a hard drive. So it comes with no memory if you buy the $300 system... I think the memory card is only 64 MB. Less than the Wii.
Dvorak admits to trolling Mac users and Rosen admits the RIAA is wrong... apparently they know the second coming is happening soon and want to get some things off their chest.
Apple should spend more time making it easier to switch -- like including a "start menu" equivalent,
I believe if your drag the Applications folder to the dock you will get something "similar". I'm so used to Spotlight now I don't actually even keep a lot in the Dock. I just type the App name I want to launch into Spotlight. But of course that's just me.
using the defacto standard "ctrl-c & ctrl-v" type shortcut keys,
I'll mildly give you this one... except then all the Mac users have to switch from what they're used to. It's really not that big of a deal though.
better windows-style support for right-click instead of always having to use ctrl-click to get a pop-up menu
You mean like right clicking? You can right click on a Mac no problem and it often times brings up menus.
real windows-style "uninstall" functionality.
Because simply dragging the Application to the trash is too hard?
No everybody on Slashdot speaks English as their native tongue. The editors might have fixed it up some but it might be the best effort put forth by the submitter.
I've always though game movies stunk because they either fall into two areas:
1) They are the same plot as the game. You already played the game, why do you want to watch the same thing in cinematic form?
2) They are too far away from the plot. The fans already know the plot line and you've thrown something completely different at them and they cry about how it's not true to the game.
It's been "guessed" that Boot Camp, which will come with Leopard, might also be available for purchase for the current OS. This is what happened with iChat AV I believe. Of course it's mere speculation though.

Wal-Mart says they didn't say that...

Sounds like "highbrow" should be synonymous with "fan boy"... :)
You can't steal a copyrighted work by making a copy of it anymore than you can steal a person's soul by taking their picture.
You can't?! So much wasted film... *sob*

According to wikipedia, smoking tobacco will lower your level of this chemical... for me though I'll take a new gadget over smoking.
Don't we have a moderation system in place to highlight the best comments? Why the "mega"-moderation?

REPENT I SAY!
I hear they have some great "Excel Expert Masters" in the department of redundancy department.
The funny thing is that anyone who changes their mind based on this stupid marketing campaign really is a sheep.
:)
Yeah... making your potential users feel like one of the flock is a bad thing...

And not everybody uses preview before they post... grrr... I meant "Not everybody on Slashdot...."
And I won't preview this one either!

And here I was thinking there were maybe only 6 people in the Mac Business Unit... :P

I prefer the latter personally.
Oh wait...
3) Uwe Boll

It almost sounds like a better game to be made for single player but I guess with an MMORPG it's harder to pirate.

People in the UK exchange their fat for goods and services based on how much they weigh? Weird.
