Yes, but I can go and buy a dvd player, 5.1 sound system with speakers for a very low price. The sound reproduction, however, will not be true. (or even pleasant)
What is wanted is a way to preserve the quality of the sound in transit from Hard Disk to audiophile speakers.
This means that everything that the audio travels through must introduce "minimal distortion" (connectors, cables, circuitry etc.).
Where I live we have legislation covering the fitness of goods for the advertised and intended purpose. I idly wonder if a case could be built against the sale of Windows under this legislation.
Not that Microsoft would care if they couldn't sell Windows in one small country <sigh>.
Well now that you're using Windows, you can hire some graduate to write an enormous, confusing GUI in like, VB or C# or whatever the latest incompatibility from MS is that pulls the the latest algorithms from a central server. (how's that for a run on sentence!)
That way you can use all the latest buzzwords like "live-update" and umm, "client/server" and umm, "network" and whatever buzzword pack that comes with.NET.
Oh, oh, wait... you could use MS Access with a custom interface and have all the codes stored in a database. Mmmmm, database.
It's not like I don't appreciate the positive comment moderation, but the only joke was about the [near?] future CPUs.:-/
Oh well, one day the savings account won't get raided for a kids emergency doctors appt and I might get some new h/w.
I always get a bit depressed when I read about current tech.
First, video cards get more RAM than my main system.
Then , HDDs get more cache RAM than my video card has.
Technology prediction: Tomorrow (or maybe the next day), Intel or AMD release CPUs with more cache than my system RAM. AAAAARRRGH.
Taping telephone handsets to their base is also quite humourous. Just make sure the tape can't be seen and is strong enough to pick up the base with the handset.

There are many applications that run on this frame work. Calendaring, mail, task lists, contact management, and more.

Yes, but, when the drive tells lies to the OS about the FS metadata having been written you are in a bad place come power failure; journalling or no.
