  1. Wall Street on EA Obtains Exclusive NFL Licensing Rights · · Score: 4, Informative

Electronic Arts (ERTS) traded up 3.38 during regular hours trading and went up an additional 3.07 during after hours trading. This is a 6.24% and 5.33% change in a single day. I guess wallstreet really cares who gets to hold on to the francise name.

  2. Re:How do you make money on free software? on Venture Capitalists Think Open Source Again · · Score: 1

I don't know if having a venture capitalist invest in an opensource company is actually a good thing. Most venture capitalist expect their investments to mature within 5 years, at most 10. This means that these companies will most likely be forced to go public. Depending on the company, they may not be able to survive this. Its good to see that venture capitalist are finally getting out of their investments during the dot com era, and are able to invest in other businesses. My 2 cents.

  4. Discounted stocks on Employee Stock Options? · · Score: 1

While I was at Morgan Stanley, I think the company discount on the stock would be 15%. There was some heavy regulation, and process that you had to go through in order to purchase it however. Another thing that was part of the companie's policy: Employees aren't allowed to touch stock of companies that Morgan is involved with, so no google stocks for employees... Just my experience. Hope I didn't accidently leak any IP.

Is it clearly stated when you sign up for an earthlink account that your password will be in clearview of earthlink agents? I think its quite a security risk, especially if people aren't aware of the fact that anyone with access to Midas can view it. Thanks for the reply.

  8. Passwords? on A Day with an ISP Spam Investigator · · Score: 3, Insightful

Rush mentions that in one case he realized that the suspect was using a sports password scheme, does that mean that these people working at the ISPs can view our passwords? I happen to use maybe a set of 6 different passwords, but if someone can get one of them, they can access many things that are password protected for me. Its unreasonable to have a different password for every net logon you have, but I always thought that passwords were hashed so that even the system admin in most cases can't read them.

  12. Full Spectrum Warrior on Do Videogame Skills Transfer To Real Life? · · Score: 1

Full Spectrum Warrior is a prime example of a game that'll create skills that will transfer to real life, in theory of course. The game hasn't been released yet, however, the whole idea and concept is to create this realistic simulation. In FSW, you never pull the trigger, its all about strategy. Video games are wonderful for simulating things, they can be EXTREMELY realistic, without the risk of a real situation in life.

  13. Personal Opionon of MUD games on Why Is Free MUD Development Lagging? · · Score: 0, Redundant

I personally don't like MUD, rpgs or anything that takes too long. However, is it really hard to see why MUD games aren't doing that well. Sure, to some people they are really addictive, but there is no longer a reason to go text based. Most PDAs can do things far beyond your MUD game. A good star wars MUD that I played for a while is www.dforces.com. If you look around, there are quite a few MUD games out there.

  17. Intentional Planning on Best Holiday Gaming Seasons Ever? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Well, I'm pretty sure developers try to release their games during the holiday season simply because people already have money to spend, on gifts and games. You might as well make it a new release, so that it can be the new cool thing to buy. Many games for the xbox were delayed this holiday season, ninja Gaiden, Halo 2 was intended for this holiday season, and I'm sure a whole slew of other games. Fact of the matter is, publishing houses and developers wanna push for a holiday release. My 2 cents.

  18. Another FPS on Doom 3 - Definitely Worth The Wait? · · Score: 1

Well, I personally am looking forward to DOOM3, simply because its so pretty, but then again so is HL2. The market is being flooded with "Great" FPS. I personally play FPS on consoles, because I'm really bad with keyboard and mouse, however, both of there are supposed to come out for the xbox. Things that will make or break doom3 include how fast people catch on. On XBL, initially, I wasn't planning to buy Rainbow Six, but then all of a sudden all my GR and GRIT friends were playing it, so I naturally had to buy it and play along. Just my 2 cents.

The Rainbow Six 3 (for xbox) ranking system is also the elo System, which is great because it doesn't give the antisocials, or people with too much time on their hands the top spots, for the most part. Its at least fairer(more fair?) than the system they used for ghost recon Island Thunder. My Highest ELO value would be somewhere around the 1550s, with under 4 hrs of playing time. At the time of that high elo, my ranking was 62 out of over 65k who play the game.

With all the other FSP (Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon:IT, RTCW, Swat, RBS 3) CounterStrike is going to have to fight a bit for a lot of people to play. Sure, its counterstrike, and EVERYBODY plays counterstrike, but I'll probabaly stick to Rainbow Six for now, unless something truely amazing happens in counterstrike.

I can see why its fair, a company spending millions of dollars on a project, shouldn't lose it all due to a disgruntal employee
