It also seems like anyone who is installing Linux on their machine is replacing it with a 120 gig harddrive, or replacing it in general, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

  2. 20 Gig HD on XBox Hardware Database Started · · Score: 1

Since when were there 20 GB harddrives for the xbox? I bought an xbox, just a few months aftet it came out, for full price. Anyways, does it raelly matter that much, I'm sure, with the nature of the xbox-linux community, it won't be long before almost everything is supported.

  3. Microsoft on NBC Merger Leaves VU Games, Blizzard, Sierra In Cold · · Score: 1

Wasn't there speculation that microsoft would be buying vivendi's game unit, for a lot more than 800 million. I don't think microsoft would affect the production of PC titles, except, maybe delay it for EXTREMELY long periods of time (halo)
Since I'm a console gamer, and I do own a PC, I think a microsoft purchase would have nice potential. It'll be a major plus to microsoft.

I own an xbox, and I loved Halo one, but with all this media coverage, and new stories once the smallest things happen, I'm afriad halo 2 might be overhyped. And when it finally comes out, it will just be a giant disappointment, which the xbox really can't take right now

  6. Killer App on Doom 3 Minimum Specs Revealed · · Score: 1

This just might be the killer app that forces everyone who hasn't already, to upgrade their computer. I'm sure the hardcore gamer will already exceed this requirement by a lot, but the casual gamer, he probably doesn't spend so much money on his computer just for playing Games. My desktop's video card barely meets the requirements.

Apparently it happened, but didn't create such a large hole on another shuttle a few months before columbia. I guess they better fix their stuff before they go off blasting into space again. It also showed how everything melted down because of that hole, scary how such a minor thing can cause such disaster

Not only can you save a pci card, it is also cheaper and less of a hassle a lot of times. Some motherboards have excellent on board audio, such as the P4S8X I think it really depends on if you think its worth it. I can do fine with just the bios speaker going beep beep beep.

  10. Competiton on Nintendo Researchers Talk Next-Gen GBA · · Score: 3, Informative

Fact of the matter is, this world isn't secure. You can take steps to making it more secure, but some one can always clone a mac address, spoof and IP, among other things. You can lock your door, but there will be lock pics. The most secure computer, is probably among the most useless. Sure, a computer that is just plugged into a power socket and not to the rest of the world is secure, but what can you do with it?

  13. Open Source Consoles on GP32 Showcases Homebrew Coding Winners · · Score: 4, Interesting

The idea it self is a really great one. One reason the PC is so great is that just about anyone can write something, and distribute it, legally. With consoles and other gaming machines, its illegal to run unsigned code, and a pain in the ass to get the code/software to work. Take the xbox for example, I would love to have Linux on my xbox, and be able to run various other apps that are created, but I don't have enough balls to mod my xbox, or use the new exploits that just came out. A console like this is great, it sort of depends on the community to fuel its game supply. I hope to see more consoles like this.

  14. Lik-Sang on How Console Piracy Affects Gaming · · Score: 5, Interesting

When Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo banded together to make Lik-Sang stop selling its "back-up" products, I think it stopped piracy only to a certain extent. Now people just go else where. There will always be pirates and people that buy and make illegal games. Piracy affects the ability for certain game makers to make good games, because if they don't recieve income from games in the past, they will be unable to create games in the future.

We just eject people that use glitches, and they are really easy to spot. Most peopla are cool about using glitches. You say in the begining of the game that no one should use glitches. I also understand the banning of people using mod chips on xbox live because who knows that they can create, in terms of cheats, bots and so forth.

I as an American still prefer Japanese goods, especially over the chinese goods, even though I'm Chinese and slightly more than American products. The Japanese make good products, there is no doubt about that. If I was Japanese I would probably be intrested in getting good from Japan. Japanese cars sell well in the United States, so well that we need to impose tarifs on imported cars to protect our car industry. The Japanese create very good quality and innovative products.

It seems like one game can really make or break a game developer/producer. It isn't the first time someone decided to quit, start a new company, or just abandon the industry after a failed game. Seamus Blackley who used be Microsoft's technical officer for the xbox was working on this giant game before he came to microsoft. After the game failed because they physics inside the game were horrible, he just left. He left right after Microsoft started making price cuts for the xbox as well, although he says he just wants to make more games.

  21. Japanese Market on Western Xbox Titles To Flood Japan? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Microsoft is constantly making the same mistake. Because they are an american company, they can't seem to see the demands and needs of the casual japanese gamer. They made the mistake of going into Japan with out many Japanese games, hoping that localized Western games would be enough to drive the market. Another problem with Microsoft and the Japanese is Microsoft doesn't seem to understand the Japanese customs and culture. I heard from a business teacher that Microsoft would attempt to get deals and contracts signed on the spot, whereas the Japanese are used to going to lunch/dinner or something of that nature. With the failure of Xbox in Japan, I have my doubts that the next one will suceed

I completely agree. Back when it was the time of Nintendo 64s and Gameboy colors, I purchased both because of Nintendos licences and characters. I felt like I would never see Mario and Pokemon(yes, Pokemon) on any other console, and I was right. Now, I bought an xbox and play mostly third party titles. My cousin had a game cube, and ALL they had was first party titles, smash brothers, Lugi. With the new competition, the Xbox, Acclaim and other third party developers have to decide where they will make their biggest gains.
