All google has to do is only show part of the image as it's thumbnail. Just cut off the top, bottom, put a hole in the middle of it, whatever. As long as it's not of the whole image, then it's definatly an excerpt and therefore qualifies under fair use.
was that if you didn't use the "magic word", then they could be really frustrating. As an example, if you typed "Throw hammer" and the magic word was "Fling hammer"... You had to have a copy of a Thesaurus around just in case.
When I worked at an electronics assembly plant some years back the following happened. One of the other workers was convinced that a power cap was in the circuit backwards, and proceeded to swap the leads going to it. Now, mind you, this was not a small cap by any means. It was used in a huge power supply, and if I remember correctly was about 500000 microfarads. Probably about 3" in diameter and several inches tall.
It's a good thing he wasn't standing very close to it when he turned the main power switch back on. As it was it deafened the entire production floor and plastered the ceiling and surrounding area with the insides of the cap. Took days before most of the residue was removed, and we were still finding little bits of it months later.
This reminded me of a Dirty Pair story done by Adam Warren. Unfortunately, the EMP gun didn't do a complete job on it's intended target and turns it into a raving sex maniac robot instead....
"But anybody can listen to anything they want, and can make antennas for receiving of any sort. In fact, as long as you're only receiving and not transmitting, I don't see how wardriving could ever be illegal."
Guess again. It's illegal to intercept ( listen to ) cell phone transmissions.
The vast majority of cops are power-trip hungry bastards with pyschological problems. There are a few out there who actually are interested in helping the general public, but they are hard to find.
The two specifics that I mentioned in my post are only two of many. There's a lot more of them out there. And Falls Church is not exactly a "small town speedtrap".
I have no points on my license, and normal insurance rates. I take it easy during the daytime on regular roads. But late at night when me and my friends can scout out the back roads and post sentrys w/ radios, then all bets are off and 100+ MPH is the rule.
"the individual cops don't get a cut of those tickets. There is little incentive to bust your butt"
Uh-huh.. And tell a few more lies while you're at it. There are many small towns where the police department is FUNDED by tickets that are given out. A town with a population of about 1000 DOES NOT need a police force of 40+ odd people.
And there are the towns ( Falls Church VA ) that SUSPEND the officer if they do not meet a specific number of citations issued.
Now, lie to us again and tell us that the storm troopers have no incentive...
Liked the interface and the speed. However, checking my local area turned up some errors in road names, a missing lake, and a town shown with a name that disappeared about 15 years ago when it was swallowed up and incorporated into a larger town nearby.
Ditto the comments that we want other countries included. I'd like to see Japan, for one. And I'd like to get topo maps as an option. Yeah, I know I can get topo maps from terraserver, but it's only the USA as well.
Don't buy stuff made in communist china! I've already got a nice 120 Gig HD system in my car, and it was made in the free democratic country of Taiwan!
Yeah, I know this will get moderated troll, but I really don't give a ****.
Well, the FCC does say that people cannot "Hoard or Broker" the numbers. Supposedly to prvent people from buying up all the cool 800 numbers and then selling them at ridiculous prices ( Hmmm. can you say "Domain Name squatters"? )
Anyway, as long as it's just one number being transferred, they apparantly don't worry too much about it. But you are correct, and my point earlier then is invalid if the FCC says that 800 numbers can't be sold legally.
Well, people sell 800 numbers all the time. If I want 1-800-BUY-STUFF then I can contact the person that has that number and offer to buy it from them. They may not sell it to me, but that's their choice. I guess by Verizons logic that 800-CALLATT doesn't belong to AT&T then. Shouldn't regular numbers be the same?
I found myself wondering when the next sex scene would be, and if they could go 5 minutes without one. Wondered if the two pilots were going to have sex through the bars in the brig, but apparantly they had to many personal issues...
Several of the characters were so transparent that within 10 seconds of seeing them onscreen, I was able to pretty much guess what they were like. ( Starbuck.. Hmm. Tough girl, pilot, takes no shit from anyone, probably smokes.. ) ( The education minister. Extremly Far Left Liberal, hates the military ) ( The tour guide. Hmm. Actually a plant for the cylons )
They also seem to have a problem with the sound effects / BGM being way too loud verses the characters speaking.
When a group of my friends and I were watching a recent South Park ( the one that jabbed at LoTR ) and the kids kept telling Kyle that "Jews can't be Paladins!" I died laughing but the others were "huh?". So I had to explain it to them...

This should give you a hint as to why.

Now if I can just find free small scale online topographical maps of Japan, I'll be happy.
..someone just releases a patch to PyMusique so that it looks like version 4.7 of ITunes to Apple's servers...

Note: That's basically what really happened.
