I had a friend try to tell me the other day, that the reason the gaming industry is failing, is because "games cost a lot more today", compared to when we were kids.
But that doesn't make sense to me. If I look at a new console game for PS2, say for $40. Back in the 1970's (my Atari 2600 days), by my friends logic, those games back then (compared to what the dollar is today), would have been like $10-15. I think they were more than that, somewhere around 30 bucks apiece. I'm at work so I don't have time to do the math. But I could swear new Atari games back in the 70's cost WAY more than the comparable "trend" of today's new games.
So... am I right, or is my friend? A free lunch may be in the balance, if it can be proven.
Al Gore says I can do whatever I want with the Internet. Like a benevolent creator, he invented the Internet for us humans to do what we will with it. And even if I'm wrong, there's more than one Internet anyway. Just ask President Bush. So on my Internet, I choose to trash people who act like pompous aholes.
Occasionally I look up information or send email on it, also.
They had the Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, now the Nintendo DS, and soon to come, the Gameboy Micro. Then again, there must be enough people to support the slightly different variations on the same theme.
I wonder if that's why Sony was so slow to come out with their handheld... because they knew most people with disposable income for a gaming handheld probably already spent their money on one (or more) of Nintendo's myriad other options?
As you say, if you travel abroad frequently, I think you're recommended to have a MMR booster like every 10 years. I think there's also some quick blood test a doctor can give before you leave the country, to determine if you still have sufficient immunity to Measels. I might be wrong on that, and thinking of something else...
It's not worth the chance, either way. Just go get a booster right now, if you haven't been vaccinated since school days.
...the Google business model, evidently. How is it that Google makes money, exactly? Is it all based on sites paying them to be listed when you search? Surely AdSense doesnt make this kind of loot.
Sorry for the dumb question. It just came to me when I was reading the story.
Why do they not want them to use the.XXX domain? "Virtual Red Light District"? Meh. That's like saying private individuals shouldn't be able to reserve.COM domain names, because they're not 'commercial'. Wouldn't they WANT all the pr0n eggs in one basket? Or would that make too much sense?
Just yesterday, I just picked up Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls, for my GBA. I buy about one new GBA game every 2 months. I don't have a GameCube.
Nobody is doing this that doesn't know full well what they're after. And if we're talking about underage players, well... it's Mom and Dad's responsibility to know what their kids are doing, not the retailers.
If you're not old enough to see a nipple, chances are you shouldnt be playing GTA:SA anyway, modded or otherwise.
It's also stupid that no one bothered to check whether Fedora Core 2 would hose a dual-boot setup with Windows due to a change in the 2.6 kernel disk geometry reporting scheme which affected parted.
... and NOW, I think finally know what happened to my Fedora the other day.
No matter, I switched to Ubuntu, things are fine. I know it may happen when I upgrade Ubuntu's kernel, but hopefully I'll have made the full transition away from the Linux/XP dual boot scenario.
Basically, the guy plans on running a big WiFi transmitter on the unlicensed 2.4 GHz spectrum. How he can run a transmitter at that kind of power (7 mile range) and avoid the FCC is beyond me, but more power to him if he can (no pun intended)
When you run in the unlicensed spectrum, you agree not to provide any interference on licenced frequencies.
You took me out of context. And apparently didn't read the whole post, before you went all
How do I cleverly twist his own words around to bash Americans without defining my own opinions... let's see..."Blow up"... "out of range"... HAHA yeah this will get 'em! (clicks Reply button)
You're not only missed MY point, but also the point in the BIG PICTURE, apparently. But boy, that was a funny response. Yep. {golf clap}
Who acted suprised?
This is what these spineless, gutless cowards DO.
They blow people up from safely out of range.
When that can't be done, they blow themselves up, like the geniuses they are.
Nobody's suprised anymore. They're just sick of it.
"Replace it with a larger drive of your own choosing, and you've suddenly lost FF:XI."
I think we're basically on the same page. My only point was, if Sony comes out with a external HDD for PS3, there's no reason to assume FFXI won't run on it, just because it was originally issued with the "old" PS2's internal HDD. Not a pick-up external, but rather one designed specifically for PS3, by Sony, should work fine.
Blogs don't have to have some main focus, or any focus, or any requirement to even be particularly interesting, for that matter. My mom checks my blog daily. That's probably more often than I update. My friends from High School use it to see if I am still alive. I use it to ask people what their opinion on which riding mower to purchase, and to complain about what I see on the news.
It's a synergistic relationship, I guess you could say.
... ending it, or scaling it back? I think the Patriot Act is a good thing. Who knows.. if we had a similar policy in place before 9/11, maybe some things would have turned out a little differently.
The official Sony HD, which is very hard to get now, is weird in
many ways. The one game that actually uses it to any extent, that
online Final Fantasy thing, will ONLY work when it's the Sony HD.
Replace it with a larger drive of your own choosing, and you've
suddenly lost FF:XI.
How exactly do you know that the new External Drives will not suport FFXI?

It's From Red Dwarf. ;)

if they could have just got that "Riocasting" thing off the ground.

I don't even understand why these games come out with misleading names.
It's 2005... why is there a game called "Madden '06", out now?
Do any adult gamers play these card games?
Or are they just for kids?
I'm being totally serious.
Who buys these, mostly? I've never played any of these. Are they the new board-game fantasy genre or something?

Unbeatable? Those Lineage bots must be a lot better than the ones on FFXI. Those goofs can usually be outpulled/outskilled by a mental defective.

That never EVER gets old, lol.

LOL
How many of those "enthusiastic" new gamers are goldfarmers (or whatever the WoW equivelant is) in a game room somewhere in China?

My thoughts are with you all. Condolences to those who had loved ones hurt or killed in this tragedy.

Careful guys, you know what happens to whistleblowers.
