A blackjack bot really wouldn't be all that bad for the casinos. Even assuming it played optimal strategy, the casino is still going to come out ahead in the long run since counting cards isn't an option with internet play. The only real advantage to using a bot would be that you didn't have to sit there, watch the screen, and make decisions each hand. But what fun would that be?
Absolutely. I'm amazed when I see people talking about seeing great 10 minutes after the surgery. I was told repeatedly by my doctor to keep my eyes closed and covered with eye shields for the first 8 hours after surgery except when putting in the half-dozen different drops that I had to use for the first week.
What part of "judge issued warrant" don't you understand? Are you saying that the government should never be able to surveil suspected criminals? Because frankly that's just stupid. The fourth amendment allows for reasonable search and seizures. Obviously the judge decided that this was a reasonable search.
So if I break into a bank computer system and transfer a million bucks from your account into my own account it doesn't count as theft because I didn't actually take anything physical. That's just semantics. If you don't want to call it theft, fine, but that doesn't change the fact that its still a crime.
The difference is that the profits from drug sales are several orders of magnitude higher than bootlegging. The high profits make it worth the risk of arrest, at least for some. Is the same true of bootlegging? I would guess not.
I don't know if its the same stuff or not, but I saw something like this liquid on Beyond 2000 at least a decade ago. They even mentioned that it could be useful in cooling supercomputers.
Actually I used to live in Falls Church. I've also lived in South Florida and I currently live in Georgia. Trust me, Northern Virginia is quite a bit more temperate during August. During the winter.....well that's another story all together.
Amen to that. The most aggravating thing though is that you can set the phone so that you hold it up to your ear like a regular cell. I don't know a single Nextel owner that does this though. They all insist on having everyone within 50 feet of them a party to their conversation.
Could you point out where exactly the grandparent belittled anyone? He asked why you would want linux on an iPod. I think its a legitimate question. If there is an answer, why don't you give it next time without all the sanctimonious bullshit about curious individuals and innovation.
What's ironic about people not wanting to lose their jobs? I see no one claiming that outsourcing isn't about "simple economics". Just because Smith's principles are at the root of outsourcing doesn't mean that those affected should just say "Oh well, that's capitalism" and go get a job at McDonalds.
And by the way, I'm not in the IT industry so it doesn't affect me one way or the other.
He may not have crashed any servers or anything, but stealing access to Lexis-Nexis does costitute financial damage. Gaining free access to a paid service is theft. Theft implies financial damage. Stealing cable is a crime and so is what Lamo did.
I never said that you were wrong in any of your arguments. What I said was that the arguments had nothing to do with the FBI trying to catch a guy who was commiting extortion. Its not like the FBI was sitting around with all of their surveillence equipment and just happened upon this guy. In all likelihood he contacted Best Buy with his demands and they in turn contacted the FBI. But because it involves the FBI and electronics everyone starts in with the conspiracy theories that have been posted a thousand times before. I'm no fan of the expansion of the government's rights to watch over us. I just don't think it applies in this case. The FBI was simply doing their job here.
All of which has absolutely nothing to do with some guy trying to extort money from Best Buy and the FBI creating a sting operation to catch him. It seems like everytime the government is mentioned all the reactionary/.rs crawl out and start in with their Big Brother tirades. The guy broke the law and *gasp* the government tried to catch him. What is the FBI supposed to do? Just wait until all the criminals walk into Quantico and turn themselves in?
The problem with this is that the mostly likely candidate for coating the magnetic beads with would be antibodies raised against the virus. While this type of treatment might be beneficial in the short term, passive transfer of antibodies is often accompanied by a strong immunological response by the host immune system to the transfered antibodies.
So you might get one or two treatments before the patients immune system negated any effect that the beads would have. Not to mention that a strong activation of the immune system in this manner can actually be much more harmful than many viruses.
From what I could tell from the article no one is actually offering a service except the free PTP.
Comcast isn't offering Wi-fi service in the park. They're only role is as a corporate sponser.

Since when is North Korea in South East Asia?

I did RTFA (as usual) you asshole. I was just saying that I saw something like this on Beyond 2000.

I think that is a little optimistic. How many religions have adapted to evolution?
Since when is northern Virginia an intemperate climate?
The system doesn't issue citations though. It just turns red to make the speeder stop.

How about "-1 Dork"?

Ohh if only my mod points hadn't expired today!

Yeah I feel real sorry for this extortionist losing his personal freedoms. How dare the government impinge on his right to break the law.

That's funny. I always thought it was Al Gore who invented the internet.
Why do you people INSIST on using this arcane celsius scale?
