I think that was a rather big oversight on the part of Lucas, considering the Jedi Master who instructed Ben was Qui-Gonn, not Yoda. That one might be a little more difficult to explain away.

Nah, just say that as one of the head Jedi, Yoda instructed everyone for a class or two. Note that in this time period the Jedi had a whole academy and perhaps didn't start as an aprentice until they were a certain age.

You can think it's an "incredibly arrogant, ignorant statement" if you like, I left school before my 16th birthday, started work, got my own place at 17 (later, my first mortgage at 19), always paid my own way and never claimed a day of social security, I've just worked my ass off and by and large worked a fair bit harder than my contemporaries . Damn right I'm arrogant in that regard. If you want a better job, put the hours in till you're good enough and then go looking for it. What's standing in your way?

That's quite a story, but I don't see what it has to do with the story at hand.

I'm a beach vacation person. There's no ocean on either and while I'm sure the blast off would be entertaining the rest would be unbelievably boring for me. Why would you ever think that a trip to Mars would be exciting for most non-nerds? Once the novelty of going to space as a civilian wears off, there's little draw.

So you can sit on the beach and stare into blue nothingness but think it would be boring to sit on a space shuttle and stare into black nothingness?

  11. Re:replace VCR with ... what? on DVD Player Ownership Surpasses VCR Ownership · · Score: 1
There are the DVD Recorder / VCR combinations. Combo-units usually aren't as reliable over time, in my experience. I would like to dub tapes to DVDs, but that could be done with our other VCR and a DVD recorder. Then there are DVR/DVD Recorder combos, which seem like a good deal..............Maybe I'll just go buy another VCR.

You could buy a good DVR/DVD combo and a cheap VCR and migrate your VHS collection to the DVR. I don't see VHS sticking around much longer and you could run into a situation where you have a VCR but can't buy blank tapes anymore so all you can watch are your old tapes which degrade with every use.

I think radio technology is old and dated, and I can't really see a future for it. I've been calling for the FCC to deregulate (or lessen regulations) on the old analog TV channels -- and it looks like others have too because the FCC is doing just that.

I hope a lot of people don't see a use for it, then maybe we could get a ham band between 6 and 2 meters. That would be cool, especially if it included some old analog tv channels.
