Yes a friend and I used to call sega every week. We requested manuals for Master System games we didn't have (we said we lost them). We used to drool over all those manuals just wishing we could play those games.
I loved sega so much as a little kid it was pathetic, but a funny thing happened. I saw an AMIGA at a store called video concepts running tetris, then another one at somers photo and computer running a game called AWESOME. I almost fainted when I saw the intro and forgot all about SEGA forever.
Actually I sold all my sega stuff I collected over the years to buy my first computer the AMIGA 500 .
I still call 1-800-USA-SEGA from time to time. I called them 2 weeks ago to test my new VOIP service.
I'm surprised more people aren't using Flip4mac's quicktime codec. http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm You can play wmv files in quicktime as if you were on a pc using WMP classic.
I'm using a 6 year old dual 450mhz g4 and I'm getting 30 fps with 13 apps open. I say it works much better than windows media player, mplayer or vlc.
When I saw the headline I felt blood rush to my face and could only yell "shut your whore mouth up" to my monitor.I felt like I was being attacked for a moment.
Google doesn't offer binaries because it is expensive. They would have to charge money to access that data.
Lets say google offered binaries with a retention of 1 year (google text retention is 20+ years) with 2-3 terabytes of data added everyday that would be over 1 petabyte of space to host all that data. Don't forget redundancy so factor that in. Next they would have to deal with bandwidth. How many broadband connections could google serve at full speed and still turn a profit? You think google could serve 10 million broadband users downloading 50GB of data everyday for free?
Giganews has the longest retention in the industry at 60 days, thats over 100 terabytes of data stored. Go see how much they charge a month for unlimited service.
Now that game was scary. The sites and sounds of your brothers screaming as there're been ripped to shreds by the Genestealers.
Not only was it a FPS, you can also fight hand to hand with the monsters.
The sound was awesome.I remember playing the game with a friend and the stereo was up. All you can hear were gene stealers coming closer and your brothers fighting them off as bet they could. Eventually our defense was breached I started fighting them off hand to claw. As soon as I killed one I turned around and a genestealer clawed me in the neck and killed me.I was so startled I fell out the chair, my friend ejected himself from the bed where he was sitting into the wall hitting his head.We looked at each other and and laughed.I was never terrified by any game before or since.
'Pluvius behind you' 'Curses my bolters jammed' 'We are there DOOM!'
I loved that game, wish there was a proper sequel. Too bad EA doesn't make games like that anymore.
But DVHS quality destroys DVDs period. I can record 15 hours of 'DVD' quality footage to 1 DVHS tape. Not to mention it can record 1080i via the firewire connection and transfer the video to the computer digitally.I payed $6 for my tapes.
Compare Dtheater movies to retail DVDs to really see the quality difference.
I hope JVC makes a H.264 compatible vcr to compete with bluray.
Correction the 3DO released in 1993 allowed 8 players to connect to one system without a multitap. The 3DO system had only one controller port. You daisy-chain additional controllers to the first one for multiplayer games.
The most I connected was 6 for some awesome fifa soccer matches.I think only one game supported 8 players and that was a japanese soccer game but the name eludes me.
Will finally come out after 10 freakin years?
One of the reasons I bought a n64 was for Thornado. Factor 5 even released a Chris Hulsbeck mp3 track for the game on IGN.
I'm really getting fed up waiting for a next generation multiplayer Turrican. I've so wanted to kick the Machine's anus in 3D.
I just hope Factor 5 isn't put on SWROTSD (Star Wars Revenge of the Sith duty)for the PS3.
In the case of Star Control II and Road Rash they were better than the originals.Road Rash was a Night and Day difference from the genesis version. So was John Madden football and Fifa soccer.
Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels- Is a 3DO original,a year later it was ported to PC,PSX and Saturn.
Some of the PC ports to 3DO were complete remakes.Super Wing Commander was a complete remake of Wing commander 1 with improved graphics and speech.
I remember playing the demo of wing commander 3 for 3DO when the DOS version came out. Then 3DO's version came out 3 months later with better graphics & dolby sound it owned the PC version.
Yes 3DO had a lot of good games that's why they got ported to other systems a year later.
Gex Slam n Jam D Shock Wave 2: Beyond the Gate Policenauts
Wing commander IV & Star Control 3 came out in 96 for pc.
I can't believe I forgot Fifa Soccer with it's wicked fun 6 player mode.
Space hulk vengeance of the blood angles is a 3DO original,pc psx & saturn are ports. Snowjob is a QTVR like game. Killing Time had FMV in the intro and the ending. No FMV during the game.
Actually I have a memory card and mpeg1 video adapter for the fz1 "two unused expansion ports"The modem,mpeg2 & M2 cards never materialized.
How can you blame Trip for:
Goldstar's rubbish game selection Samsung barely trying The no shows in AT&T,Toshiba The 3DO company,Panasonic,EA did most of the advertising. While other big licencee got a free ride (looking at you Goldstar/LG)
The 3DO Game system was a group effort but everyone didn't pull their weight. So It had a early death.
I'm happy Trip and everyone else at 3DO took the risk.It was by far my favorite game system.
Star Control II
Need for Speed
Road Rash
Return Fire
Space Hulk
Starfighter
Wing Commander 3
Lucienne's Quest
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Samurai Shodown
Killing Time
Twisted
SnowJob
Alone in the Dark
Body Conscience Digital rave (just kidding...well I did play it more than jetset radio)
etc.
I mean 3DO has quite a few AWESOME and unique games. It's not the FMV wasteland that some folks make it out to be.
3DO has these great games...
Need for speed
Road rash
wing commander 3
Star control 2
Gex
Slam n Jam
Space Hulk
Return Fire
Twisted
Battle Sport
Sword n sorcery
etc..
A number of titles sold hundreds of thousands each far from DOA.
How much was the the PSX when it first came out?
3DO problem was a it's fragmented structure a reliance on 3rd party support.
By the time the 3DO company started shipping games it was 2 years after the debut.
But still failed,
Panasonic (A large JAPANESE company),Goldstar &Sanyo all made 3DO systems.
Good japanese rpgs like Lucienne's Quest & Guardian wars were available.
Lots of hentai & TnA games were made.EA put out a awesome fifa soccer and a good virtual stadium baseball.even Need for speed had a japanese version.
I say only Dragon warrior & Final fantasy can guarantee a game systems survival in japan.
Every Canadian pharmacy I've seen online seem shady. How do you sift through the scammers?
I say the 3DO controller was very innovative for the reasons you mentioned.
I used the daisy chain function & headphone jack extensively. It was the best way to play fifa soccer.
Dude! I almost spit my drink out!

[ OK ] [ Cancel ] [ Apply ]
I never quite understood the reasoning behind this.
I'm surprised more people aren't using Flip4mac's quicktime codec.

Add The sega genesis and atari 7800 to the backward compatibility list.
The genesis can play master system games, the 7800 can play atari 2600 games.
I totally agree.
When I saw the headline I felt blood rush to my face and could only yell "shut your whore mouth up" to my monitor.I felt like I was being attacked for a moment.
I wish people would listen to that first rule.

Wow, those are the same reasons I didn't buy a XBoX 1, or a playstation 1,2.Just replace microsoft with sony.
I HOPE Apple won't do it.
Don't forget Apple doesn't even have copy protection on its OS.
Please continue to "Think Different" Apple.
The name of the computer was osborne not amstrad.
Here explains the osborne effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Osborne

It been almost 10 years, come on treasure.
SC 1 was ported to the PC from the amiga.

Arm cpus are also in 3DO game systems.
For the 3DO was pretty faithful to the movie. Even has the sex scene with Sly & Bullock. "You're doing a good deed" "I'm the Demo Man"
Where are the X68000 units at?No videogame collection is complete without them.
The price was slashed quickly. I bought a brand new 3DO unit for $350 in 1994.
