A lot of people rip their entire CD collection to MP3 so that they can use it throughout the house. I managed to munch my way through 30GB of disk space this way. If I had used FLAC instead of MP3, then it would be more than 100GB.
I refuse to believe that 60% of Brits even have a portable gubbins. Most are old ladies whose closest computer contact is putting a bag of peas on the conveyor belt for the checkout girl to scan.
My parents don't have a basement, as the water table is only a few feet below ground level where they live.
They do, however, have a garage. In which there is a 14" monitor, the shell of a Pentium 120, and approximately four keyboards and three mice, one of which uses a serial connector.
One of the most irritating aspects of IM to me is that people can see that you're online. Sure, it's one of the major benefits too, but if I'm about to head out and suddenly a friend comes online, I'm never sure whether I should stay and talk to them or be rude and bugger off. It's a situation that I don't really like to be put in.
In Richmond (that's a district in London), there's a guy who owns a green smart car and lives on a busy road. He keeps it parked at right angles to the kerb.
It sticks out a little bit, but seeing as most roads in London are too narrow for two lanes of traffic once there are people parked down both sides, you could actually line one side of the road with smarts at 90 degrees without affecting the driveability of the road at all. And you've just effectively increased the parking capacity of the road by 50%.
Absolutely. My first digital was a HP with about 2 megapixels, and the image was inferior to a Fuji with 1 megapixel as the lens was so shoddy. The interfacing software was impressive, but that's a result of HP's experience in computer peripherals, not in photography.
Nowadays I have a Pentax. Nice lens, but marginally inferior user interface. Very pleased with the photographs that it takes.
I've installed it on one of my home computers. The only thing that screwed up was that I couldn't connect to my wireless network anymore, but all I had to do was dig out a checkbox that said something about "Windows should manage my wireless networks."
I plan to install it on my other home computer sometime in the next few weeks.
Took a long time though. Found that very irritating. I started at about 8pm, and ended up going to bed before it had finished.
Indeed. The HTML for the MSN search webpage linked above is more than ten times the size of the Google page, for starters.

I would have thought that part of the Gates foundation budget compromises "buying publicity by helping the needy."
I expect that this is just another form of advertising.
"Ah, that Bill Gates is such a nice guy after all. We should buy his operating system because it will make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside."
I hope that you used rel="nofollow" on those links...
Indeed. They've been using the Ass. abbreviation with great pride and frequency for the past year or so, I think.

"You read a lot of stories about older generation either adopting or having troubles with Internet."
Only in Korea.
Hang on.

It may not defend against the hackerly, but at least it will stop you average dumb criminal in his striped jersey.
And if not, then that leaves it open to Microsoft!
I'd be willing to join your concern by voting with my feet and not using the Google search engine any more.
The only question is, which alternative search tool do you recommend?
I thought that it was just a case of actually finding someone who could enforce them.

Hence why I prefer email.

I am a dancing tally wodge furtlecherry
Sitting on the banks of a ragadacious portlecabin
Smear me with terrifying woesomeness
I make a habit of never downloading anything that I would have considered paying good money for.
It means that I download nothing but rubbish, but it's a small price for a clear conscience.
At least it's not the #1 cause of a traffic accident.
International Fusion Reactors host YOU.
Basically, it's just Firefox but with support for the blink tag.
After all, I'm using an entire 1% of my current 100MB allowance. That extra 150 will really come in handy.
Yes, but we're less likely to get lung cancer from inhaling all that coal dust down the mines, or to be crushed by a wooly mammoth, or bubonic plague.
Swings and roundabouts.

Sounds like the White House to me.
