1. bill gates denies ever saying this 2. even if he did say it, it was probably true at the time, if i say today '2gb ought to be enough for anyone' , you're not gonna think i'm crazy, you're probably gonna agree with me, this quote doesn't say 640k will ALWAYS be enough
the site is almost slashdotted, very slow secondly, why do they have to put everything on 15 different pages, does it make it more organized? i think not. easier to read the article when everything is together.

i guess they are limited to volunteer efforts, if you have a VAX, have the time, and are skilled enough, you could maintain the port, but unfortunately they dont have the resources to test and confirm all architectures for all releases.
I don't get the feeling that this is a very significant update!
any project in it's mature stages wont change much, at least not noticeable by most users. if bash creates a new release, you aint gonna notice the difference. if linux creates a new release, you aint gonna notice either (unless it's a major release, but in comparison, this apache release is not)
it's not about stupidity of the average people as many of you may think, some people dont think it's worth learning how to do it from the computer just to save a few bucks. (OK, maybe we know how, but many people are too scared to even try)
companies see this oppurnity and profit from it! simple supply and demand.
Last time I checked, it was legal to e-mail someone you don't know.
if you read the article (not slashdotted yet):
The law also forbids spammers from using multiple e-mail addresses or domain names to camouflage their identities. Penalties include up to 20 years' imprisonment and an $11,000 fine per offense.
Warrants show FBI agents sought evidence Ralsky and Bradley sent commercial e-mail using at least 14 domain names.
Let the parents decide what is too violent and what isn't and be done with the whole thing. If parents cared then we would not be in this whole entire mess.
what mess are we in? are we still assuming that violent video games lead to violent behaviour in real-life? we've been over this argument a dozen times.
i dont think linus is to keen about the GPL, he never actively promotes it. i dont know if he regrets using it for the kernel, but he is smart and rational and will never speak out against it.
even at the top of linux kernel LICENSE, he added some extra notes of his own.
hotmail was good, and it was popular. MS took it over and turned it into the most worst email (the low storage, the spam, the restrictions, etc) service ever. nevertheless, people keep using it because it's what they always used or what their friends use.
now take AOL, something already crappy. i can't possibly imagine what microsoft can do it. maybe this time around people will actually shy away to something else.

...does the new Blender come with a kitchen sink?
i dont care what it comes with, as long as it minces up your crappy sense of humour
title: Microsoft Hires GUI 'Design Guru'
slashdot misleads again.
he is not a GUI design guru, he is a human-machine interaction guru.
this article has no direct relation to GUIs.
i can handle the dupes, but it's very bad practice to post misleading information
(hint to Zonk: READ the article before posting).
there's also:

If your thinking with the little head, the big one is in standby.
You must be using your little head atm.
the project is being outsourced to the United States.
yep, i hear they train these american construction workers to speak with an indian accent.

or how about forget the memory usage, just make it start up fast, i mean seriously i would switch the OO.o if they would
(although i must admit, reducing memory usage and speeing up startup does overlap)
i dont know what quality the video is, but i'm guessing video+audio has lossy audio?
BRRRRaaaainnnzzz!!!
dude! you're totally in the wrong place! go look elsewhere.
have you read the article? maybe Joe Barr has changed, this review seems to be more sensical instead of some crazy rant by a pissed of guy.
dont prejudge based on his previous reviews (although it's natural to do so).
just because a game is out for linux, doesn't mean everyone should lower their standards.
people abuse shockwave too much, the website is hard to navigate (i need to roll-over all the links), it's slow to load, and it's way too flashy.
luckily, the web designers are not the same people as the game designers.

they just took away his stuff, how lame! he committed a crime and should be punished.
if i was the FBI, i would take those penis enlargment pills and start shoving them up his ass until he begs for mercy.
poor business ethics are ignored so much in todays society that it's hardly considered news anymore.

Airbus A380 Under Fire
;)
anyone else thought this literally meant an A380 was on fire?
sheesh, they really need to name the stories better
maybe more vulnerabilities are found in mozilla because it is open-source
arguably, one could say this is better than in IE, where there may be some which are not known until some hacker exploits it.
Dude...you just said most worst...incredible...
sorry, proper english can't describe what MS did.
are you guys going to make some jokes about this?
this is no joke.
hotmail was good, and it was popular.

btw, to get rid of those location pointers (A, B, C, D, etc):
just clear the search field and press enter.
too bad google doesn't make this clear, would be nice to have a button to do that.
yes, i did misinterpet what he said, thats why it wasn't funny! (if it's so subtle that most people can't even understand it, it's not funny)
lol, ok i dont use the shift key and punctuation correctly just to speed things up, but at least i do that on purpose.
you can't even spell "misinterpet" and "evidenced" correctly, yet you call me a moron. ah, the wonders of hypocrisy.
