  1. Re:Interesting on Yahoo Updates Konfabulator · · Score: 2, Interesting

Widgets for Konfabulator are a lot easier to make. This encourages a lot more community than the Apple widgets. However, since they are easier to make, you also see quite a few buggy widgets (although there are by no means a shortage of good widgets). You might as well give it a try, see if there are widgets out there that you like better than the apple ones.

I'm a pretty serious konfabulator user, and I also write some widgets, which gives me a bit of insight into the inner workings and bugs. This is a pretty major upgrade, but mostly bug fix wise. The old 2.1.1 version was pretty buggy (javascript wise), although there were plenty of workarounds. The newer version has many less missing or incorrectly implimented javascript commands, although 2 minutes of testing revealed several major things they still havent fixed. If it were only the bug fixes, I would wholeheartedly recomend the upgrade, but as is, they added some obnoxious warning messages about using "non-yahoo supported" widgets, which discourages third party widget designers. You can't argue with free though.

When an entire state (or enough of it that the government of that state becomes representative of these people) becomes religiously fanatical, it is cause for concern. Anyone remember Robert A. What is more, he stole quite a lot ($370). He claims he didnt know that what he was doing was wrong and illegal. Bull. Then he's like "Please let me go home and sleep in my own bed!" It makes me sick.

Thank you very much Firefox guys/gals, if you happen to read through this. I used to write OSS software, but I stopped, because NO ONE ever thanks you, all I got were bug reports (useful), already addressed complaints (useless), flaimbaits (annoying), and even several random death threats (kinda scary). So I no longer write OSS, as people who pay for software actually seem to have some perspective. This post revealed to me that this problem still exists with what is probably the biggest, most popular, and most useful OSS project out there today (Firefox has 10% market share, growing monthly, can Linux say that?).

I would buy it. A cheap media center PC? Who cares if Windows doesn't come installed, if the mac software sucks, then I can install Windows XP MCE. It would have to have a 3.5" drive, not a wimpy 2.5" drive, but if they are using a Pentium M, they can probably get away with a smaller motherboard and cooling. Sure, it wouldn't be that fast, but it would be killer to have a real computer, wimpy or not (at least by todays standards) in my AV cabinet.

Media center requires absolutely no work, at least no more than TiVo, which I take is your standard for "usability, not features". Just boot the thing, enter your area code, and choose from a list of TV providers (Satilite, Cable, ect...). Its all set then. If you want your music, video and picture collections to show up, its another 30 second wizard for each of them. MCE is INSANELY easy to use, just not very customizeable. MythTV can be changed all you want, but it takes a rocket scientist to get it running properly.

    People should use Linux.
It is now Linux's time to shine, in fact, 112% of computer users will switch to Linuxin the next 4 hour.

Go ahead, mark me a flamebait, but even I (I use OSS software and OS all the time) get tired of these repetitive and incredibly biased compairisons.

Then I decided that hacking the Xbox 360 alone was too easy, so I decided to write an XBox 360 emulator for my new hacked XBox 360. This was easily accomplished by subsituting the original scrapped hardware for the new hacked version. Spread the news.
