  1. Ebert is to Cringley as he is to Dvorak on Ebert Reviews 'Silent Hill' · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Seriously. When are people going to stop listening to these windbags. This is particularly true for movies where one sees one flick as the best movie ever made while someone else sees it as a steeping pile of crap. Movie reviews are so subjective. This is why I don't browse Rottentomatoes.com anymore. First off - as already alluded it - is is so subjective and secondly I think that most critics are self-important bastards. I actually prefer imdb.com because with that at least those reviews are written by everyday people who do not have a thesaurus next them like rottentomato movie critics to make themselves sound more important then they really are.

  4. My view on Growing Censorship Concerns at Digg · · Score: 4, Informative

Each website has its own specific qualities that make it good and bad. For instance, I like Digg because it is updated more frequently than Slashdot (see diggvsdot), but apparently "these updates" maybe too frequent (i.e. stories deleted). I think Slashdot has better comments. I cannot stand Digg comments. Digg comments are the same type of comments that Fark has... people talking about stuff they have no clue of. At least with Slashdot, most of the comments are made by informed people.

Here's a thought Hollywood, stop making movies about gay cowboys and pimps. Get real writers and try making a quality movie or at the very least a movie about topics that people give a shit about.

Please. This sentence is hypocritical and trollish. Brokeback Mountain is a good movie with a good script. No, tell Hollywood to stop producing movies like "Date Movie" or "Hostel". People don't know a good movie if presented right in front of them. No, they are just obsessed if it has two homosexuals rather than a guy burning an asians womens eye out.

Take Doom 3 for example... yes the graphics are creative and great (that is when you can see them and you're not in the dark) but it is more-or-less the same game as Doom. I'd rather play something new even rather than rehash the same plot outline in a sequel.

Not all games that will be eventually made into a movie or vice versa suck. Another example of this is Resident Evil (or Biohazard in Japan). All the games, those before and after the 2 movie productions, are considerably better than the 2 movies that were released. But yes, I have seen *generally speaking* that sometimes movies based off video games tend to be less enjoyable than the other way around.
