I see record labels fearing MS MORE because of this. The bottom line fact is that record companies are scared shitless enough already about other people getting their copywritten goods, let alone letting a company like MS control it's distribution.
Don't you think it would be much easier to say "fuck you" and launch a massive virus attack on the previous poster to prove your point? Why go through all the rigamarole of explaining a well rationalized argument as rebuttle to an such an unrational point. Afterall, they're clearly using IE.
I was recently at a job interview for a portal company that creates content exclusively for IE. Quote "There's soo much potential in IE's ActiveX Controls". It was all I could do to bite my toungue.
So you mean longhorn will run Final Cut Express on a Mac?
Given two years, this level of computing may be on the newest home desktop/workstations/high end gaming machines. But still who will buy it? Home users who are accustomed to spending 6-8K on a computer are more often than not, spending it on an Apple. Microsoft can't possibly keep the Home Desktop market at prices like these. Production, maybe.
Precisely! In certain circumstances only though (dock, can I get a witness?).
Another I know of. I can customize the timings for mouse gestures in FireFox. I can say, activate the mouse gesture after holding the button down for 2000ns and from that point, after 5000ns cancel the gesture (highlighting text and such). Regular shorter clicks will not activate the mouse gesture.
Oh stop beating around the bush and throw your professional subjectivism in the circle. You know exacly what I'm talking about. This is no place to use the critique kid gloves of the professional designer.
This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It's a black mark on the OOo marketing team. If it is used on collateral of any kind you can kiss OOo goodbye. They will never be taken seriously.
I pray this is a joke, or a token contest.
I believe that's what my counterpart above me was trying to say.
the proc is fast enough to do most things [web, mail, WP, digital camera editing, mp3 ripping, etc.].
Dude I do all my freelance web/print design on a b/w 350. While I can't say it's a speed deamon, it is sufficient, if you have a little patience. Panther helps boost its performance as well.
To say that the eMac is sufficient for only those tasks you mentioned clearly shows you've never been broke.
I suspect it will be only apple. Or at least Apples model that succeeds. I have the feeling that Music labels do NOT want to get tied into licensing fiascos with MS. Especially when something as precious as their music copyrights are at stake.
It's no surprise to me that Apple was able to get labels on board with them.
Are these stats of actual browsers, or what the browsers report themselves to be?
Well since I'm not staring over the shoulders of each member of the audience, it would have to be the latter. Salt is required with all reports like this though. Statistics can be used to prove anything afterall, 87% of people know that.
93-96% IE
Appx 3-4% Netscape.
Appx 1-2% Alternative browsers. Of IE user agents, 78-80% is IE6 and the rest (mostly) is ie 5.x
Thus, one in every five views is probably IE:5.x
These are the recent stats of sites that I have had privvy to work on. These sites have a large audience as well so we (I) can assume it is an accurate poll.

Now, Troll me up!!
Well I for one, am very serious about you handing all your money over to me. In fact it's my business model.
...
...the sarcasm, she hurts.
1. Be very serious about getting money
2.
3. $ Profit $ !!
ACK! Where did my computer go!?
The Baked Apple?
Remarkably, it still works.
Oh yeah, forgot about that one.
Meh, call it iRendezvous then.
That'll be confusing. The whole point of the i"Wildcard" is to use a noun not a verb. It loses it's appeal with that kind of naming.
Besides, it's not an app. It's more of a deamon, IANATechie.
The only query I had after reading this is, when will MS buy out Mozilla?
"Let's just scrap it and buy something that works."
Would a 64-bit OS only run on 64-bit architecture? If so then those requirements won't even be balked at, since you need a G5.
Guys.... Shhhhhhh... Stop saying that it'll be a bad idea. Microsoft might take a hint.
"Video editing."

They like games with single storylines and definite direction.
They also LOVE anything with lots of blinky lights. Blinky lights and fur.

HA! I don't have any of those!
And I'm still not tracka... oh... right... I'm homeless.

Liquid coolant please? I love to see that. Would there be disposal problems, like a fridge?

Lately projects have been getting finished, work completed left and right. Boy that's gonna come to an end soon. I'll be back to slacking in no time!
That just opens the door for microsoft to compete using names like Internet Moth-splorer.
They already use a butterfly.
1. Invent iPod ...
2. License to HP and Partner with AOL
3.
4. World Domination
