Privacy has been dead for 20 years or more, just run your credit report if you have doubts. 1984 came and went, everyone breathed a sigh of relief and proceeded to forget everything Orwell said. There's only one solution, become a good little drone (or perfectly imitate one, which amounts to the same thing.) Like I tell my wife, I'm glad I'm pushing 50, I don't think I could take another 70 years of this shit.

    Fluorescent bulbs, well...two words.
    Changed every single one of them in August, cost about $50.
    All electric, dryer, stove, hot water and six computers, heat is oil.
    100 watt incandescent cost about $9 to run all month, 14 watt fluorescent
    costs about a buck and throws similar (if slightly off-color) light.
    Bill went from $325/mo to $160/mo (we leave a lot of lights on 24/7).
    Best money I spent last year and haven't changed a bulb yet.

    Microsoft is becoming irrelevant, passe. Why would I care if I could pirate Windows? I don't use Microsoft software now, I don't plan to use Microsoft software in the future, it does not matter if they give the stuff away.

    People who break authentication so they can pirate software are hurting free and open source software. This behaviour encourages people to pirate the software. If you want to use Microsoft software then don't break the law and don't use pirated copies. That's right, pay for legal use of the software. Use you elite hacking skills to improve free and open source software.

    Why is this modded "troll"?

    The parent is absolutely correct in every respect.

    against grandmothers with glaucoma and kids

    It's like the RICO act, meant to be used against
    racketeers but just try to get your car back if

    The war on drugs has turned our government into
    paternalistic assholes and changed cops from
    helpful servants into self-righteous bastards
    who see a criminal in every face.

    We set ourselves up for this.

    Where better for a guilty, nervous would-be bomber
    to hide that among a population filled with guilty,
    nervous drug users?

    Wake up.

    Tell your congressmen to repeal drug laws because they
    only fuel organized crime, camouflage the real danger
    among us and make those who would do us harm safer
    by diverting funds and manpower from hunting bombers
    down like animals to locking up teenage girls because
    they were caught with a joint.

    The purpose of DST is not to remind you when to check your batteries. If it works for that too, fine; but that is something extra, not the reason for DST. Support or oppose the DST change for REAL reasons.

    The purpose of DST is to give 18th century farmers an extra hour of daylight in the evening during the growing season. It's no longer needed. If we're going to change it, we should do the smart thing and get rid of it.
