Would you rather have a free online service and have to put up with advertisements when you login or would you rather pay the monthy/yearly service on top of the $50 you spent on the game?
Most PC games have GameSpy built into them and it is not that bad as some of you are making it out to be.
I think FFII for SNES was the first real RPG that I got into, and I think it has some of the most memorible momments that I will never forget:
- Cecil confronting his darkside. After fighting his Dark Knight form he turns into a Paladin.
- Tellah fighting Golbez to the death after his daughter was killed. He ends up using Meteo, which cost him his life and he ended up only damaging Golbez.
- Yang the karate man staying back in one of the rooms in the Tower of Babel because the cannon or whatever it was, was going to explode. He sacrificed himself to save the party.
- The two mage twins turning themselves to stone to stop the walls from crushing the party.
- Cid and the party using the airship to escape the castle that was being bombarded by the Red Wings. The music that went along with flying the airship was superb.
Weren't both Hillary and Bill in NBA Jam: Tournament Edition? The same NBA Jam that could be considered a physical and violent game with all the pushing, shoving, and full contact basketball. At some people she must have given her approval to be in that game.
I live in an area near King of Prussia, which make up the suburbs of Philadelphia. Most of the township names are taken from England because the area had seen some action back in the Revolutionary War days. For instance, other townships besides the King of Prussia are near it are: Buckingham, Warminster, Warrington, Warwick, Jamison, South Hampton, North Wales, etc. etc.
Yes there is a King of Prussia, PA, I work there as a computer engineer. It is part of the suburbs outside Philadelphia and it is practically a very large business and industrial center. Tech related companies like Unisys, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, all have buildings there along with major banks like Citizens, Bank of America, etc. There is also the King of Prussia Mall, which is very popular in the Philadelphia area.
I know Valve probably has different divisions that work on different aspects of their games, but if they have enough resources to come out with new improvements to the source engine and a new expansion can't they shift some of those resources to the areas that need more attention?
They are working on expansions when HLDM and CS: Source are practically incomplete. Its been 5+ months (counting beta) that CS: Source still has only two available player models. I just think there are more important things that need to be added(especially VAC2)/fixed with the games already out rather then start on something new. There is a good portion of the servers out there now, which are being exploited with the falling skulls and purple boxes. I could care less about lighting when I can't even play in a server without it crashing due to exploits.
They do innovate their games even though they use franchises. Just because they reuse characters doesn't mean they are not succesful in evolving or adding new innovations to their franchise games. There is even no reason for Nintendo to stop making their franchise games when they sell and make millions?
Metroid -> Successfully brought a 2D game to a 3D environment.
Mario Sunshine -> Tried to get away from the normal type of Mario looking worlds. Included a water pack, which changed the style of play.
Zelda Windwaker -> Tried an artistic cartoon/anime style approach.
Zelda Four Swords -> Successfully bridged the gap between a handheld game and its console counterpart.
Donkey Konga -> Uses bongos and introduces a new style of gameplay.
Mario Kart Double Dash -> 2 players can simultaniously work together during a race. One is the "gunner" while the other drives.
Starting New Franchises That Bring New Concepts to gaming:
- Pikimin
- Viewful Joe
- Animal Crossing
- Geist
There are a ton of more examples, but I am too tired from writing this much down.
This could possibly mean that the PS3's (according to early reports) has the potential to have more processing power then the XBox 2.
XBox 2 PowerPC:
- 3 cores
- 3Ghz
- L1 cache with 32 KB for data and 32 KB for instructions. The three cores share 1 MB of L2 cache.
PS2 Cell Processor (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/02/07/news_6118 072.html):
- 8 cores (This can be scaled from 1-8 depending on the device, so Sony has the potential to use more cores then the XBox 2, but there will be trade-offs for using more)
- The first version of the chip will run at speeds faster than 4GHz. Engineers were vague about how much faster, but reports from design partners say 4.6GHz is likely.
- 2.5MB of on-chip memory
Its still too early to tell since Sony has yet to release the final specs of what will be used and how many calculations\instructions per second each can do. I just think it is funny how the PS2 is the current system lacking in power, but come time for next generation systems it has the most potential to be the most powerful.
One other thing I should have mentioned on my post above. Some games like Gran Turismo or multiplayer games could add more content to their games. If you offer more storage space on the medium you could have more cars and tracks in a GT game or in terms of a multiplayer game more maps. Just an example of two types of games that could really benefit from more space.
Most people got a PS2 because DVD movies were first coming out. By having the consoles play DVDs it helped pushed the DVD movie format mainstream. People may want a system that has HD-DVD or Blu-ray so that they can use their console as their first movie player for those movie formats when they come out.
Why can't video game companies do what board games and other toys do and post an age range on the box. Alot of people don't know the video game rating system already and adding a new rating makes it more difficult. Board games/toys say like: "Ages: 4-10", "Ages: 2 and up", etc. So GTA could be "Ages: 18 and up" and Mario could be "Ages 6 and up", etc. If they would print that on the box I do not think it would be as confusing as the current rating system is.
All hell will break loose if Tingle appears in this game.
Nintendo: "You may have stolen our main character Link, but stealing our homosexual Frenchman who flys around on a balloon has gone too far! He is our Jar Jar Binks of the Zelda series, not yours!"
I really hate when people complain about the darkness in Doom 3. You do not deserve to play this game if you do not know there are two settings called gamma and brightness that can be adjusted on your monitor or in the Nvidia/ATI control panel.
Just because it sold well in the US does not put it ahead of the PS2 and GameCube for holiday sales or overall sales. For instance in Japan the XBox is a joke: http://www.the-magicbox.com/topten.htm Add up the world sales too before you claim XBox a success.
... yea and Japan will welcome their Xbox overloards...

Don't forget Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct.
Add Pirates and Ninjas. And then include some generic rage for the Prince of All Cosmos.
I meant "time" not "people". I have no clue why I used that word in that sentence.

What is that you say? Dreamcast had broadband capabilites before the XBox? They were the first innovative ones and not Microsoft?

I think he was referring to the show and movies, which I believe Nintendo has the license to.

Is there a site with sales from all four regions?
I am just curious, but where did those figures come from?
