Here's a link about Scientologists trying to cash in on 9/11 victims by offering a detox service to people. The treatment starts at $5,200 a pop. Nice. So far, the NYFD doctors have found no evidence that this method works.
But hey... if our Hollywood overlord Tom Cruise endorses it...then hey, he's gotta be right. He's a doctor right? What? No? Uhh... then he's acted as one before too right? Huh? No... oh.
Easy.... just make some executable that claims to be something dumb like a free screensaver or something like that. Put a 100 page end user licence agreement (EULA), and when the user hits accept... virus installed. It's called Malware:D I'm sure most people that use Kazaa don't read the EULA and knowingly accept the spyware and adware that it installs.... (well, at least initially when Kazaa came out)

Darl addresses the courts with this moving speech to justify that Linux and GPL is evil.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the CEO of SCO, Darl McBride... (applause)... (heckler starts yelling and gets dragged out by security... heckler seen wearing a 'Linux Owns Joo' t-shirt and shouting praise be unto Linux!)
Darl: There is a group of software developers in the United States, and other parts of the world, that do not believe in the approach to democracy, liberty, and copyright protection. This group I speak of are murderers, criminals, and terrorists. That is why SCO will not stop until Linus, the head of this terrorist organization is held accountable because they hate democracy. We know that Linus is sponsering terrorism because we know terrorists have used Linux in the past. The GPL licence does not disciminate against any parties, so evil doers are using it against America and her allies. Linux is providing a safe operating system haven to terrorists like Al Qaeda. If you help a terrorist, you are a terrorist.
Mark these next 16 words, Linus possesses weapons of mass free redistribution. Notice in these satellite pictures of Linus' van, it looks like an ordinary van, but no, this is a mobile Linux lab. We also know that Linus is pursuing nuclear weapons because several nuclear power plants are run using Linux. This is clearly a duel use technology which represents a clandestine nuclear weapons program. We have also received intelligence from our British allies, SCO Britain, that Linus owns a mouse named Larry. Clearly this mouse is used for chemical weapon research.
Therefore, we must go to court against Linus and prevail for democracy, freedom, and copyright protection! Thank you, and non-denominational specific (supreme)/(equal)/(lesser)/(none existent) (please circle one) being bless America.

Sure enough, the three wise men rode up.
The crowd gasped, "They're all male!" And "Not very multicultural!"
"Balthasar here is black," said one of the Magi.

I just saw the movie, and it was amazing! The 4000 balls were let go, and they fell, and they bounced all around. I didn't expect that ending...it was pretty cool! Although, character development wasn't that great... and one could argue this was mostly an action flick, but whatever, I still liked it.
"Economics is the study of how to allocate scarce resources to produce goods & services that help satisfy unlimited human wants." The scarce resources in this case is time and money when it comes to learning how to program.
There's quite an oppurtunity cost for the computer illiterate to learn to program... let alone program well. It makes more sense for the computer illiterate individual to trade resources for computer software/services.
It's far more efficient for people to specialize in what they're good at, and trade that skill or resource for software, which they're not good at producing. Those who choose to be jack-of-all-trades generally will be beaten out by people who are more specialized in specific fields. (See level 3 warrior mage ninja thief monks VS level 100 black mage in most RPG games.)
So, I don't think this article really makes a lot of economic sense. Those who are computer literate need those in the non-computer industry and vice-versa. Shame on the writer implying these people are too lazy or cowardly to learn how to program.

Has anyone considered short selling SCO shares by using options? Options is where you predict the price of a company at a future time, and the closer to the price you are by that time, the more money you make. Put me down SCO's stock price at $0.01 USD/share for next year same time. It's probably a good move for geeks since we know what SCO is trying to pull here. To the average financial broker guy, all they see is oooo, SCO may make $1 billion from IBM... BUY BUY BUY!

I think Galileo could be a US Vs. Them issue. In the world today, it's almost cool to be anti-american. The EU definitely does not trust the US as it once did.
An excerpt from an old CNN article states. Article found here.
The recent cooling of relations between the U.S. and the EU has been cited as one reason why the Europeans are now rallying around Galileo. European politicians at a summit of EU heads of state in Barcelona last week warned that Europe risked "vassal" status to U.S. technology in space.
Galileo "permits the EU to shake off dependence" on the American GPS, French Transport Minister Jean-Claude Gayssot said after the vote on the project.
In the grand scheme of things, if World War 3 was to erupt, and it was EU VS US, it'd probably be in the EU's best interest to have their own GPS system.

I think it's important to point out that P2P as a network architecture will NOT die. It'd be silly if a P2P would die off because the RIAA is suing people that use this type of network. Using P2P to swap illegal songs may or may not survive.
There are many advantages to using decentralized networks like P2P. It distributes your resources so you don't have all eggs in one basket. Things like denial of service attacks could become obsolete on a decentralized network.
Now as far as music swapping is concerned, I also doubt that it will die off because of the lawsuits. I think it's more likely for this to become a digital arms race, where developers make better, secure, anonymous P2P networks, while the RIAA has to find better ways of tracking people or using new technologies to prevent music copying (ie DRM).
I think a likely scenario is that mainstream P2P networks may shut down because of the RIAA lawsuits (like Napster), but the techno elite will use more advanced P2P applications like freenet which is an anonymous network. The techno elite are those who like using bleeding edge technology and are the early adopters.
And the cycle continues, friends of the techno elite sees freenet and think the concept is neat, and starts joining the bandwagon. At first, no one notices, until the mainstream users all jump onto freenet. RIAA notices, and cycle repeats again. Digital arms race.
