Well, Los Angeles turned a profit because they didn't undertake the massive new construction that most Olympic venues do. I think I read that there was basically two structures built for the Olympics. Everything else was done in pre-existing stadiums/facilities.
I decided, just for fun, to run down to the local retailer to grab my copy (hell, they shut the servers down for the update just in time for me to get there at midnight!).
I was a little surprised... Or maybe I shouldn't have been.
The people standing behind me were SO obviously methheads (gaunt face, bleeding gums, rotting out teeth). There was one kid that was about 12 in there with his mother picking up a copy (wtf? On a school night? I hope to hell when my daughter's 12 I never lose my intelligence and find myself buying a game at 12 midnight with her on a school night!)
The rest of the people were semi-normal - but about half of those looked like they could've used some personal hygiene lessons *grin*.
Wait 60 minutes after the detection of the "Bot" by Warden. Then, pop up a message on the screen saying said bot was detected, client refuses to respond to ANYTHING until an "I agree to contact XYZ and/or remove bot" button is clicked. This gives innocent people notice that somethings wrong with their PC and needs investigating. True bot users can't just start the bot and walk away without expecting to time out after an hour...

Something else that's happened in recent years is that mothers are becoming mothers much later in life. It's also been shown medically that new mothers in late 30's/early 40's have a higher chance of having autistic kids.
So... What control was put in place in his study to eliminate children with older mothers from the study?
And logs... I can easily doctor a log with search & replace to show different IPs. If RIAA/MPAA is just digging for out-of-court settlements, who is going to be the one to "validate" the logs/screenshots and testify they saw them in their original form? If we continue to allow corporations to file their own subpoenas without any independent verification, we're all screwed.
Interesting, but some people are complete idiots

I kept getting paired with the same dolt that would suggest one word, or none at all, just sitting there waiting for the clock to tick by.
Microsoft's startup sounds have a length half as long as a standard symphony performance. The way Microsoft works, anything "unique" to them is going to be over the top and annoying to boot.
Ok, he was leeching AP access - unsecured, totally broadcast in the open, big deal...
But, since he's a RSO, he's obviously doing something much more insidious. He MUST be sitting on a public street, in his car, surfing kiddie-porn, right?
Let me qualify myself as something of an expert, as I work for a company that does content filtering for schools... I've seen (and help bust) numerous kids who think they can beat the system).
First, kids go completely out of their way to check up on their MySpace pages as often as they can.
Second, schools have net-connected PCs all over the place.
Third, filtering/monitoring systems that record EVERYTHING that's going through the schools network make it VERY easy to track down who's going where. Sure, there are some kids that will SSH tunnel to a home PC and figure out how to surf anonymously that way, but the vast majority of students will just find an unblocked http backdoor to MySpace.
Fourth, tech coordinator for the school district reviews the logs, visits pages in logs, sees student they recognize, busts student.
Exactly... Think of the "nude" texture as "underwear" - When you overlay other garments on top, certain parts of the underwear could show through. Without this, you'd end up with gaping holes in the 3d-model OR you'd have to account for gaps in every single garment style you make for a character.
Your backwards chip comment brought back memories... A friend had one of the original Pentium (50? 75?) that had the floating point math bug. He got the replacement from Intel, and yanked the old chip off his motherboard.
When he went to install the new chip, he saw that it would fit two ways, and there really wasn't a "key" pin to line up. So, back in went the old CPU to test which way was right.
Lets just say the old CPU died a horrible, extremely hot, death.
The new CPU installed (180 degree rotated, of course), and all was good.
Mark me down as one who remembers Trabie references;) Only car I've seen with a MINIMUM occupancy requirement... One to push while the other steers (for going up hills):)
I for one enjoyed the hell out of sniffing traffic coming from bots/spammers, and loved to do nothing more than de-authorize someone's cablemodem's MAC address:)
Then, when they called to bitch, we told them to take the box to a computer repair shop and get it a clean bill of health, or wipe it and come back when it's clean.
Where the fuck are the high moral standards the legal system is supposed to uphold? Oh, wait, morality is determined whoever the greedy fuckers are that can afford to pay the greedy fucking lawyers.
Knoppix being one of my favorites... It's simply priceless when that Windows HD won't boot, but Linux will mount the drive and allow you to copy all the customer's data off it. Also, the dmesg log and syslog show a LOT more about what's working or not than any Windows Event Log...
They can build up static so quick you'll kill more machines than you'd ever imagine! It's the dust moving across the hose builds up static charges quickly.

I'm sorry to hear that...
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhh!

The Mac startup sound is also a nice short chord.

I hate the liberal media these days.
The parant comment is SOOOO accurate!

In-Brain computer does a BSOD... Imagine the glazed-over look someone would have on their face then.
Oh, wait... Most kids today look like that already. I guess we'd need some other way to tell!

Sony will be forced to give every member of the class action suit a $100 off coupon towards the purchase of a new $3000 laptop...
Isn't that the way settlements with big mega-billion dollar corps end up?

We tried to analyze our monthly router logs with Access this week, and it died at 4 million records... Back to pgsql...
Just specify "Pizza" and you get Kansas pizza shops.
I did this, and I get a link for a local shoe store *grin* I'm rather curious how that got in there!
They get on average $70 per PC for Windows... Double that for Office Pro.
