Oh. My preferences aren't to blame; they don't prevent any stories from showing up in my RSS aggregator, but work fine when I call up slashdot.org in my browser.
Which will it be? A plug-in or a regular part of Firefox? I'd be okay with a plug-in, but Firefox doesn't need extra bloat, and I don't need another way to search for things on my own computer.
I used to live in Michigan and did a lot of shopping at Meijer's. I still remember my mom buying me some Mexican Jumping Beans at Meijer's when I was still in early elementary school. Meijer's carries damn near everything - groceries, clothing, appliances, etc. - and most stores are open 24 hours (IIRC). I doubt video games are a large percentage of their sales, so I doubt a reprimand from Bungie will do them any serious damage (though it'll still sting).
Apparently the original poster felt that his Full-Figured Woman should move faster.:-P
I didn't see anything about 17-minute file copying in the article. What's that about?
Aside from the author's pro-ipod bias, I only have one issue with the article:
Tap the power button to turn it on. Unfortunately, it does not require you to hold the key to activate it and as such, it tends to get accidentally powered up in your pocket.
With the original OS, my Archos Jukebox Recorder required me to hold down the On button for something like 5 seconds to turn it on, and I found that to be a real PITA. With the Rockbox OS I only have to hold it down for about 1/2 a second to power up the unit, and I've never had it turn itself on in my pocket (or anywhere). My point is: Don't make the user hold the button down for any length of time to avoid accidental power-ups; design and place the power button properly instead!
I don't want more crap built into my car! I apologize if this post is redundant, but if it is then maybe it's a sign that the market is changing, and the automakers should take notice.
Palm Zire 21s are under $100 straight from the manufacturer. I'm pretty sure you can add a keyboard, the monitor's included, and you don't need a mouse. What requirements am I forgetting?
A game being pirated doesn't really seem newsworthy to me, but if you're going to report it, then how about telling us which version was pirated? X-Box? PC?
Bah. I like listening to Stern (when the staff isn't bickering back and forth and he's not bitching and moaning for an hour at a stretch), but I'm not going to pay for my radio; it goes against my principles. I wonder how long his show will be when they strip out the commercials?
Interesting, and a quick look at http://thomas.loc.gov/ about HR 163 backs you up, although I didn't have the patience to delve too deeply into it.
I'll nitpick one thing, though:
By contrast, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) has introduced a bill, H.R.487...
If you look at http://www.paul2004.com/ it looks like Paul has parted ways with the Republicans. He had a petition going to make himself an independent presidential candidate, he's pushing to repeal the PATRIOT act, and he's linking to Providential Party candidate Sterling Allan (with the disclaimer: "Not implying an endorsement by Ron Paul").
Outlawing text-messaging wouldn't eliminate the perceived security threat; they'd have to outlaw all forms of communication. I beleive that communication was used in the planning of virtually every terrorist act to date.
Sorry folks, I wasn't even thinking about blank media prices, just pre-recorded CDs. ISTR that when I started buying CDs in the late 80s they went for $12-$15, and last time I looked they were still going for roughly that much, with the exception of some bargain bin stuff on clearance. I stopped buying CDs after the RIAA started suing their customers, so I haven't looked at CD prices in the last year or so.
Anyway, I can see LCD display prices coming down gradually, but nothing as drastic as this article implies.
Given that I'm unemployed, I'd bid for a job. It'd piss me off, but until I can pay my bills and also put a little money into savings/investment I'll do what I have to for more income. I think it's a bad way to conduct business (it'll hurt morale, if nothing else), but I'd bid.

So Audion was some music player software for the Mac? Boy, I really need to change my preferences so I don't see stories like this. :-P
Hah! If you wanted Bush out of office then you probably feel like we *did* invade ourselves right about now!
Or, if you don't have a wheeled mouse, CTRL+'+' and CTRL+'-' will do the same thing.

Surely it's not April 1st already?

To answer my own question, I did a little searching of warez sources, and it looks like it was the PS2 version that was pirated.

and
I'm not sure how I feel about sweet beer.
What's LNO2? Liquid Nitrogen Dioxide? Surely you mean liquid nitrogen, or LN2!
This is definitely a movie I'll want to see, but I'd like to see History of the World: Part II even more. It's good to be the king!

Are these the same people who told us in the 80s that CD prices would come down as production ramped up?
I hope the auto makers introduce more cars with fewer features for those of us who love computers, but don't want them mixed with our mechanical toys.
