  1. GET OVER IT! on Video Games Need A Woman's Touch · · Score: 2

Get the FUCK over it! God anyone else tired of this yet!?! Everyday I'm half tempted to just stop reading "gaming" news. If I wanted drama I'd go by a ticket to a play!

"We know the differences between the two, but who wants to guess which way the media, politicians and other twats like Thompson are going to go."

Yup, and this garbage lawsuit is going to helpfully undo some of the harm to the game industry and expose these idiots as just that.

Here is what will happen: Hype - a week from now there will be a story about this on every blog, paper, tv station, and radio station.

Eventually this thing will either make it to court or not even go that far before it is thrown out. It will clearly highlight how ridiculous these zealots are.

Then next time someone starts crying wolf media outlets will hopefully take things with a grain of salt after being made to look so foolish. (I'm not sure if that will get me +1 insightful, or +1 funny)

Why not just stick them on a plane heading to the US where they can call them an "enemy combatant" and hold them until the end of time.

Turns out Rockstar didn't live up to their promise of hot sex and coffee - the only way to get to that content is from a program made by some Swedish guy who doesn't even work for the game developer."

This is the second post The Escapist has gotten, and so far I've found it painful to read an article half full of self horn blowing.

Here when it comes to "work contracts" anything that is not fair, reasonable and specific to your function in the company pretty much makes it void if they ever take you to court.

My policy is to be reasonable and fair - I'm not going to leave a company and go work for one of their direct competitors, contact their clients, staff, etc.

"there are plenty of small businesses out there that pay the same and don't give any benefits."

Yes that's correct, and no it isn't illegal to create wage slaves, but it should be. The reason I target Walmart is because they use their money and influence on legislators. They also actively seek out and remove any potential disruption to their way of doing business.

At least 2 stores in Canada closed their doors shortly before an attempt to unionize came through. How fucking sad is it that they'd put hundreds of people out of work so they wouldn't have to treat them as well as the dirt Walmarts executives have in their back yards.

So yeah Walmart is no different than any other retail outlet, but they have the ability to make things better or worse. Unlike the mom and pop corner store they CAN afford to have their employees live above the poverty line and still make billions a year.

Anyway got a bit long winded there. Don't worry because when I'm Prime Minister of the world we'll see some social responsibility in multi-national corporations.

The way it usually works is:

    1) I bid the cost of doing well written, documented, and supported code in a reasonable amount of time.

    2) Watch as Indian companies bid ridiculously low development costs, and time using exceptionally poor English (even by ./ standards).

    3) Watch as a "ebay clone" goes to the shop bidding 2 days and $200.

    4) Wait a month.

    5) See the poster of the original project looking for some one else.

Honestly your best bet would just watch the comments for people like me. I'm in Eastern Canada so I can do things cheaper than someone in Cali, or NY without cutting corners. My email addy is intierlogic at gmail.com
