I've got a Geforce 5700 and it works. I didn't check before the failed 1.0.1 patch, but it that patch it used about 470 Mb Ram, with the new patch it uses less then 200 Mb Ram. I'm quite happy with the game, it's very very good. You should change your card, don't be that cheap:)
Maybe using KDE instead of gnome will help. GTK is notoriously slow on remote desktops because of its frequent refresh updates.
I'm also using cygwin and have a full office setup with ltsp & kde (the server is really modest hardware - athlon 2000) and they don't have refresh problems.
It may be a bug, or perhaps you should do a clean install, because this doesn't happen to me, at least. I even downloaded the deer park thingy and, except for 2 of the extensions that i had, everything else worked.
I didn't knew that Apple produces vlc. We're talking about apple and nothing else. Fact is, if you want to use Apple's player to play content full screen, you need to pay.
I'm sure you can do the same code obfuscation in php and C... My language of choice remains python for this exact reason: easy to read other people's code.
Because you're Average John, the graphic design guy who uses a mac and wants to watch some movie trailer fulls screen and has no idea about such things as open source movie players.
From my understanding, the developer boxes that Apple is sending are perfectly compatible with WinXP. I don't think that Apple will change the final configuration too much from the developer boxes (or else, they might break compatibily with the already customized software). This means that OSX will run on just about regular PCs.
Because for quick and dirty job you don't need a full dedicated product. May I add that mirc is shareware and you need to pay for it after 30 days, azureus will load the JRE, which you may not want everytime, and I have a freeware download manager that integrates with Firefox, but not always I need to use that (small file size or the website needs special conditions for download).
So, yes, there are better products, but realy, try using the simple products and see that there are uses for them.
Irc chat in mozilla doesn't suck. It has replaced every other irc chat that I had on my computer. I use windows as my everyday desktop (games & graphic apps), but chatzilla, when coupled with dialogmate (a small utility that offers, among others, the possibility to put programs in the systray), is mostly everything I need.
The embeded download manager doesn't suck as bad as you think. Sure, the resume doesn't work, but the downloads can be retried and it has its limited uses. Just as I assume the torrent client will have when is embeded in Firefox.
In my oppinion, this is a good thing. It will expose more people to BitTorrent and will atract more people from the non-firefox users world, as it will be an extra feature they will get.
Yo! Are you sure you went on #linux and not #win31 or something?
Anyway... there's a GUI program that gives you access to starting/stopping the services and loading on startup, on different run level. Search for it in the System menu, I think it's called Services.
I think warp 10 can be reached by Douglas Adams' improbability drive. Or some other device that can be everywhere at the same time... I can't remember exactly, but it seems i can remember reading a story about something like this.
Diablo, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (doesn't like 4), city-building games like Pharaoh, Empire - Rise of the Middle Kingdom, Quake 1 and Heretic (some years ago), Abe's Oddysee.
I know of privoxy... I was one of its advocates. But lately I found that there's no need for it, adblock is good enough. What bothered me about privoxy is that it blocks the web page loading until it loads it all... not good if you're on a slow connection.

ignorant, ignorant

how will VNC help you play full screen movs with standard quicktime player?
Are you talking about the same Apple for which playing full screen video is an extra feature that needs to be paid for?
Are you refering to iLink or to IEEE1394?
Are you sure it wasn't some fanfic? Cause I've seen some recently, titled similar to the new hp book

I hope I'm not too wrong about this...
My god, that's crappy. Don't preview, but at least make sure the selection box is on Plain Old Text, next time.
It's builtin, but the article author says he doesn't want zope. May have his own reasons, who knows :)
Send in two guys, they'll surrender anyway :-)
Already taken by an audio player.

Why are you moded offtopic?
Sometimes I wish slashdot wouldn't have a moderation system
What was the name of the operator patented by microsoft? ifnot or something?

Although I'm an east european myself, I hate "irrational beliefs", especially when they lead to ridiculous lawsuits.
