    This is a variant of the old addage:

    A man finds some criminals robbing his tool shed. So he rings the cops. The police say that they might be there in a couple of hours. The man politely says thankyou and hangs up. 5 minutes later he rings the police again and tells them that there are two dead criminals in the tool shed. The police arrive in 10 minutes and arrest the live criminals. An angry sargent tackles the man, "you insinuated that you killed these criminals!", and the man replied, "you bastards said you couldnt be here for a couple of hours."

    Brazil have an excellent source of ethanol from their extensive sugar plantations. The US does not have the environmental conditions to make sugar, and hence would have to make ethanol from corn, which is not energy productive. Current surveys show this as breakeven in energy terms as best (ie 1 barrel of oil is required for the equivalent amount of energy from ethanol.)

    They just dont get it... They create the site, and then jam it full of soo many ads its almost unreadable.. You even get ads spaced in between the comments.

    Plus it doesnt render properly for firefox.

    Microsoft Foxpro does this with its 'programs', which are scripts that are compiled into form. However, unlike Python, Foxpro quite often manages to get itself with out of date compilations.

    In an ironic story, Australia just legalized the 'fair use' of VCRs and DVRs this last week (even though people there have used them illegally).

    Australia has not legalised them yet. They are just putting a bill before parliament now. Format and time shifting is still currently illegal here.

    Many thousands of Australian and New Zealand Troops died because of an 11 minute uncertainty between clocks in World War 1. Naval Bombardment of the Turkish Gallipoli Peninsula was scheduled over night, and then advancement by troops to commence immidiately after. However, because of the lack of synchronisation, the naval shelling finished 11 minutes early, allowing plenty of time for the Turkish troops to return into their bunkers and prepare for the oncoming invasion. Wave after wave of invading troops were simply mowed down by the heavily dug in defending forces.

    If the invasion had gone to plan, the invading troops would have hit the bunkers before the Turkish troops and the invasion would have gone completely differently.

    Meh, theyve done better. A simple MDAC (Data Access Componenets) upgrade to fix security errors and memory leaks completely changed the SQL syntax to Foxpro databases through ODBC. Uninstall was not possible. It was either reformat the machine, or go through every sql query and re-write it to the new syntax.

    Our prime minister has declared that its NOT an ID card, because its NOT compulsory. But if you want to access the health care system, you have to have it. So its not compulsory, but everyone has to have it.

    The St George Bank (also BankSA) in Australia offer this feature, and its easy to use.. Simply type in your pin and hit the favourite withdrawl button. The atm then returns the previously saved amount of money, and a receipt (if set). It really speeds up your atm transactions.
