Exactly... I thought "Yeah, that'd be great developing firefox." and to test out if it really was for me I decided to take the extension easy path. I wacked up the super unuseful Slashdot moderator extension then realised that even something so trival took a shit load of time.
I gave up on that dream. But at least I didn't waste anyone's time checking my dodgy patches.
Certainly looks like MS have had enough of.NET Passport... Mouseover the "How do I become a.NET Passport Site?" on the directory site and it shows "http://www.microsoft.com/net/services/passport", but click it and your redirected to "http://www.microsoft.com/NET/default.aspx" with not a mention of.NET Passport.
The jewels are sometimes well buried, but worth far more than the dog shit on the surface.
Or just prefix your google searches with "open source". Thats what Ive got into the habbit of doing and have found heaps of gems.
Buy a VCR... Now!

If you've got a half decent video collection, then do your self a favour and buy a top-o-the-line VCR now... and treat it good. You'll never be able to replace ALL the vids in your collection. (And ripping them to 'puter is ok, but you'll find this weird vid at a car boot sale in 2014 and think back to this slashdot story...)
You can still buy a good record player thanks to them bieng the tool of choice for DJs and hardcore classic moosic lovers, but if you want to replace your Betamax, thats harder... I think VCRs are more likely to go the Betamax route, than the record player route.
Sheesh, so many Firefox zealots taking over this story... Firefox this, Firefox that... You moderators really need a tool to seperate the wheat from the chaff. The trolls from the instightfuls. You need my Super Dooper Slashdot Moderator Tool Extension Thingy for Firefox! Take your moderation skills to the next level... today!
It will amount to the equivilent of "the virus seems to be spreading because mankind has taken to licking diseased rats. Also, the new trend of sneezing directly into each others mouths also appears to account for some of the outbreak..."
I guess you didnt see the test, due to the slashdottin', but the google test is a lot more fun and includes a lot of subjective questions. (Like, how many colours would you need to fill a fuck-knows-a-hedron, and what colours would you choose?)
They are testing your apptitude but also your character - your creativity, flair, and sense of humour.
Only people who dont truly know why they dislike the big guy are prone to doing this. Most people only hate because they are supposed to. You wont meet too many people in your life who actually have principles. Thats why people turn up on sign up day / rock up for the green card / happily eat the free McShit burger.
I love the tube fashion. The best example of "tube for tube's sake" is the T-Racks mastering SOFTWARE with the "analog" "warmth" of real glowing tubes - without the hassle and expense of replacing them!

I used to use SoundForge4.5 Radium release (having since bought SF5 and 6) and I checked out some old files that I sampled in to 4.5.
In wmpaud5.wav on WinXp the last bytes are: LISTR INFOICRD 2000-04-06 IENG Deepz0ne ISFT Sound Forge 4.5;Sound Forge 4.0In my samples from 4.5 I had: LIST0 INFOICRD 2000-01-09 ISFT Sound Forge 4.5
And on 5.0 and 6, there appears no plain text meta info.
Well, its just text so here's the last handfull of bytes from wmpaud5.wav:
LISTR INFOICRD 2000-04-06 IENG Deepz0ne ISFT Sound Forge 4.5;Sound Forge 4.0

But it seems wierd that the guest speaker at an event hosted by Research In Motion would advise Microsoft to purchase Research in Motion.
That seems a little, um, strange.
Sounded and looked fucking amazing. Big crowd pleaser too!
Hmm, maybe thats why this story got rejected: Microsoft scores well on security analysis..
Though I should probably attribute the rejection to my poor writing skills...
Let see, thats 16.09344 kilometers. I'll never remember that. Strike one up for the imperial system.
I know how "the scream" guys did it. You just wait until the gaurd is asleep, flick the "Alarm On" switch to off, and you're home free.
Im just using this stupid monitor and keyboard until I can get google embedded directly in my eyeballs. I really rely on that sucker.
I was just doing some MENSA puzzles, thinking "man, these are sooo easy". Then I realised I was just googling the answers.
I dont know what I'd do if I had to think for myself for 14 days.

Heres hoping they get on to a mechanical version of Leisure Suit Larry.
Q. What's broken with Unix?
A. Their penis.
