Where did you put your name down on a list. The Pleo Dinosaur from amazon looks like it might ship before Christmas. The national geographic site shows a 12/28 ship date.
I've used GoDaddy plenty of times in the past with no problems. Imagine the sheer number of domains they have registered, if only a few get shut down here and there it's probably a negligible percentage. I'm sure similar situations have happened with other registrars too.
Is Dvorak really that bad? Sure he's got some crazy ideas and predictions, but sometimes he's really on the mark. Even if he's off a bit sometimes, he does bring up interesting topics and new mindset ways of thinking about current events and trends.

That wasn't necessarily the point of the article though. They did a good job comparing the budget video cards for performance. Is there a linux tech site that reviews hardware under different flavors of linux? That would be a useful site. Especially if they dived into driver compatibility issues on different distributions.

Yep,
I use linux for PHP/Apache/mysql developments. I also write some shell scripts. All of this is under Gentoo. When it comes to media however, I'm lost. I can't burn a CD/DVD, I can't wathch video, hell, I've never even gotten the audio to work. I'm not to concered though as I use the machine for development only. Back to the windows machine for the multimedia frills.

Cywin might not be good for a first time windows user, but I agree with you it's a must have app. I install it on every PC I use right away. I constantly use ls, grep, split, wget, etc... It makes it easier for me when going back and forth from windows to linux.

I'd be pissed if I was writing a document and then someone DDOSed the site (either intentionally, or via a slashdotting/digged/farked onslaught) and I lost all my data. What happens if you are in the middle of a dodcument and a router, ISP, or web server bites the dust? Too many points of failure for me.

Hmm, I wish I knew this before I redesigned PriceAge. I think it's still an attractive site, but also has the usability/simplicty features mentioned in the article.
I read an article about a guy making tons of money on the internet shipping a certain product. When I checked out his webpage it looked so amatuer that I would have never bought from him. I guess the people that don't mind ugly sites are the same ones that fall for the spam links all the time. One thing is for sure: "Attractive site != income potential". There are just too many ugly sites that buck that idea.
The more important PHP site to me is php.net. I type http://php.net/function_name into my browser all the time. Even if I owned a reference book, this method is still faster. I'm already at the PC anyway.

Google keeps acquiring lots of small companies. Who wants to bet that these things are all inteneded for a much larger product that we all assume? Looks like they could eventually captalize on many different markets. Search will probably eventually become what they're least known for.

It makes you wonder why the browser developers don't use this as a test before a new release. If it's the test people use to chek for compliance, I would think the developers would want to acheive renderability of the acid2 test. At least the HTML/CSS source code is availaible to check against.

True, and at least most everyone knows the iTunes DRM before buying. It's not as bad as someone sneaking some software onto your PC without you knowing.

Not only do most suck, but they are too complicated. I like to pick up a new game and play a few hours a week. Some games take hours just to learn how to play.
-- PriceAge. Check prices from multiple stores, coupons too!
I agree. I'm pretty happy with their Super Saver program, so as long as they don't drop the free shipping I like the new options. I can use it or not. It's probably better for some other people who are ordering more than I am.
Yeah, but what about running servers behind the AP? Lots of games and apps require you to do port forwarding. It would suck to be playing an online game and a neighbor kicks off a bittorrent download and you lag yourself to death. Even if you can log in with the default name/password on the AP and forward the ports, one of the other neighbors might log in and change it to something else. You also have the potential that the owner(s) don't stay connected 24/7.

Must everybody in the world have thier own broswer these days? We are already plagued by interoperability in browsers, Operating Systems, Instant messengers, etc... I know it's always good to have a choice, but not when it's this complicated. I support multiple choices, but I'd like them all to at least work, as well as work together.
It seems like these days everybody wants to be a search engine, everybody wants to offer a music download service. Now is everyone going to offer thier own browers?

Well, I meant to comment on my search engine statement. All the search engines crawl the internet hitting as many sites as they can. sometimes they hit the same site multiple times in one day. As we know from a good slashdotting, many sites have limited bandwidth per month. If there are too many search engines I can see it putting a hit on many smaller sites as well as generally slowing down the whole web. Obviously we are not at the point, but it could happen. Lots of people write home brew search engines for programming experience or college projects. Those people may decide to enter the market themselves one day. Before you know it there could be a considerable amount of web traffic due to just spidering sites.
