Hah! Just as I am procrasting an English class essay (senior in HS), I get inspired by this. My grammer is so good, employers would even pay me to work for them.
I remeber starting out in gwbasic in 3rd grade. Then upgraded to QBasic(!) for 4th and 5th grades. Havn't done any programming at school since until this year (Senior year in HS) in Java. (My CompSci class last year we played cards and maybe 2 tests, and a few days in the computer lab with Pascal)
Vivendi is the one you should be mad at. The required the CD to be in the drive, and they made the boxed copies. It would have good of them to put a notice about online authentication and Steam on the box.
No, after you validate your account, you can play in Offline mode.
And if Steam or Valve ever dies (hah) they will undoubtedly release a patch that would let you still play it.
1) Who would have a computer fast enough to run HL2 and no internet whatsoever? You could even get a free AOL trial if you absolutely couldn't get internet (You don't have to have a constant connection)
2) The $90 just comes with a bunch of extra stuff like Hats, strategy guides, etc. There is a $60 version, which includes every Valve game made to this point, and a $50 version which only comes with HL2 and CS:S
3) If Steam is ever shut down, I can confidently guarentee that Valve would release some sort of patch for people to play without the online auth.
I personally believe Half Life 1's phenomenal success as an online game was due to the fact anyone could run a server, join a server, and that the master list was available for free.
This is still Completely true. They are not charging any extra fees for Steam.
I cannot tell you how much I hate that channel. They annihilated TechTV, and the entire channel is so console game biased. They killed The Screen Savers and X-Play.
I love keeping stats. Ever since I played Perfect Dark on the N64 (it saved nearly every stat imaginable to your player saved game, from kill/death stats, to how far you have run in km), I've wanted every game to have something similar, yet havn't seen anything like it since. Halo 2 has online stats, but what about for the endless hours playing LAN?
I played one of these at a mall, it had something like 75,000(?) games. Don't know how that works, but I played Duck Hunt with the light pistol there for ten minutes or so. Also, it cost $65 if I remeber correctly.
Kerry: We let him escape in the mountains of Tora Bora...blahblahblah
I don't think I've ever heard a politician say that he's not alive (or the possibility that he's not alive). And I'm sure the Bush admin would be bragging their mouths off if he were dead.
Ehem, its Roosterteeth.
Get it right.
The same guys that made Red vs Blue did make that video, only it was before Red vs Blue existed.

Interesting post.
Extensions and themes are nice as well...But if he dosn't have any interest in tabs, he probably not find any of those useful either.
I'd still use Firefox anyway, as you never know when a new IE vunerability will be found.
What's the difference between having the newton week and Leap years on the current calandar? Seems more complicated to me.
When HL2 comes out on PS2, OK. (lol)
Look at their new options window. Now look at (or think of) Windows XP's new control panel.
Watch for MS's lawsuit defending their 'Pretty Control Panel' patent next week.
Those look good, I wouldn't blame Vivendi if they wanted to "confiscate" them.

Half-Life 2 is not a learning experience?!? But there are physics!
Why not just call it Resident Evil 3: Doom?
Theres Planetside(more FPS than RPG) and Neocron(More RPG than FPS) that I've seen.
And Twilight War is on the horizon.
Awesome, Thanks much.
Online authentication works perfectly for me, having a CD check (which is unneeded with Steam), is very annoying.

There's at least one planned. (I'm sure there will be more)

TechTV is now truely dead...
The device will also play most available PC games.
Ohhhh k, so I'll be able to play Half Life 2 on this XBox which runs a PowerPC CPU?
Sounds bogus to me
