violators? If so, it's not so bad. I wouldn't mind some government goons busting down the doors of Verizon and the like.
These days GPL software and CC music (and some books) are better than stuff controlled by restrictive copyright terms anyway. Hell last night I was listening to some Mongolian punk music with lyrics on the topic of Dragon Ball Z, then some Australian-Indian Hare Krishna techno. Where would you ever find that in the aisles of Virgin records? Lots of good books these days are being released under one or the other of the CC licenses, and there's plenty of interesting public domain stuff from last century and before. Put down that trashy war novel and go read some real military history. Books not out of copyright, especially technical books, can often be found at your local university engineering library.
The only media that's hard to find for free without of course pirating are movies and TV, but the content of most modern televisual entertainment means you aren't really losing anything by skipping it.
The developer page seems to suggest that the pre-arranged peering is only for their voice service, as a way of interoperating with other pay voice services and maybe landlines. It doesn't say anything about IM, so I'm going to hope that the current non-compatibility with other Jabber servers is just a feature they haven't finished yet and not a deliberate policy decision. If it is deliberate they are really shooting themselves in the foot, and this will end up being "just another IM service", instead of bringing about the IM unification that it could.
Here you are, reading "funny" crap on slashdot, which I bet is sooooo important compared to the 4th REICH BEING DECLARED RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW!!
Bow to your sweet, sweet masters!
Lets set this straight for the people also thinking "huh?"
The Australian Christian party is economic left wing in that they support bigger government to provide welfare and services for people. It is the Christian sense of "altruism" manifested into a political party.
I'm an Australian, and we already suffer from moronic policy from our previous luddite telecommunications minister Richard (Dick) Alston, where it is illegal to host "adult" material in Australia.
Horray, I've got one of their players. I'm not sure how much open sourcing the firmware could actually do, it is already compatible with linux and the drivers work pretty well, but I suppose some interesting uses apart from just playing music could be found for these players.
I just read through the wikipedia article on Slashdot Culture and I find the Slashdot stereotypes section to be highly accurate!
* That Slashdotters are male
* That Slashdotters are single
* That male Slashdotters have poor social skills, particularly in relating to women
* That female Slashdotters are rare, non-existent, or in reality males hiding behind a feminine name
* That Slashdotters spend inordinate amounts of time in front of computers
* That Slashdotters have poor hygiene
* Most Slashdotters usually live with their parents (often expressed as "living in their mothers' basements")
I fit all seven of these, so it is obvious that Wikipedia is accurate!
They even have anime about computers and programming! Battle Programmer Shirase is a really campy-fun anime about a guy with attacks like "Double Compile" and all sorts of obscure computer references. As long as you aren't too offended by the incest jokes (and trust me, there're a lot of them), it's a lot of goofy fun!
Drug abuse is a sign of other social problems, it is a symptom of greater problems. Simply attacking the symptom wont help anything. Also this vaccine would take away any last shreds of personal responsibility in the matter, entrusting big brother to look after you and know which receptors in your brain shouldn't be binded to.
The UTS (University of Technology Sydney) building is probably too small to fit a computer museum, but they could always help fund the museum remotely.
Part of the reluctance of giving a name is that this simple identification will give the police officer immediate access to all records on you. The answer?
Officer: "What's your name?"
You: "John Smith."
I think they are shooting themselves in the foot here; I don't see how anyone would buy a car that small. Maybe for novelty value but it would seve no practical use.

In Soviet Russia, music pirates you!
Brave New World AKA Aldous' Wet Dream
All the men in the elivator had had her.
"pneumatic"
Korean music sucks! K, J & HK pop really blows the big goat in the sky. I suppose the same thing can be said about the pop we have here....

Think of the children! Ah, gimme a break!

Why not use something like gnupg to sign email in order to prove the identity of the sender?
This is a real pain because it actually breaks the gentoo ebuilds!
We obviously need more cute mascots like the BSA Piracy Crusader Weasel!
Who else gets pictures of Godzilla vs a Borg Cube in their minds? Go Godzilla!
for my wearable computer! Using a pair of powergloves for the keyboard doesn't work as well as it does in the movies.
"How about, instead of all the free donuts and beer, you just give me a raise?"
With a raise I can choose to buy my own donuts and beer and consume them at a time of my choice, rather then my employer's.

In order to view this site, you must be running Some Crappy Plugin so we can steal money from you for reading. Yeah.. this is going to catch on.
I'll just go elsewhere if sites ever start requiring this.

Hats off to a truly great man.

So instead of the earth being turned into grey goo, it'll get turned into one giant Ford Falcon instead?
