Hmm, wondering that myself. Some sort of wrapper to fool the OS that it IS a certain type of gfx card. Dunno how many things it checks to prove it's running on real PS4 hardware, but certainly interesting.
Wonder how long till it's hacked.
YES! Was hoping someone would point this out.
Ellison's always been made out to be the big bad Bond villain, and now he's got his own island with a 'dormant' volcano....?
It'll probably turn out that all this NSA spying going on was using Oracle servers, and in that HE'S the evil mastermind behind all this.
mwahahahahah!
To be fair, once Google gets their cars that drive themselves, glasses that give me information at all times, and provide TV/phone services through a high speed fiber connection for cheaper than anyone else, I'm ok if they take a break for a bit and coast, just improving what they've already done.
THEN they can start on the jetpacks, holograms, and teleportation.
Totally. Those denials were so weasel language, it was hard not to see what they were really say.
If they'd have come out with a simple 'This is pure nonsense, a disgruntled employee, of course we don't do anything he accuses us of' it'd have come off better than "well, we don't have DIRECT access as such, as in, like, we're not actually sat in front of the Google/Facebook screens as stuff is typed in. No, we're very clear on that. We don't do THAT. Well, not always. Certainly not Thursdays. Well, maybe Tuesday, as long as it's a month with a 'Y' in it."
That's still a negative? Guess it is to the types that see his actions as bad as opposed to those who see them as good for democracy.
But yeah, the smear campaign seems rather muted at this time. Heck, they even took a few days to fire him.
They're taking some time to get to the 'this isn't really true' stage. At this rate, the smear campaign won't be cranked up to full for another 2 weeks yet.
I think we can take a pretty good educated guess on this as it doesn't make THEM money...
They'll be for the banning. And they'll put it down to them being reasonable and willing to compromise on things.
Sony must be loving this. And even Ouya!
Then there's the PRISM spying thing going on, with Microsoft being the first to roll over and expose it's belly to the Gov. And now they want to sell us a machine that's got to be left online with a mic/camera in the device? Nice try, but no chance.
XBox1984
Or a government official tapping them on the shoulder and asking for a feed. With the proviso that MS simply must NOT let their users know, but MS is protected from their customers by law for following gov rules.
By having this open up, and the gov spying in, it's yet another point of entry. From what started as an ill thought out games machine has now become the XBox1984 spy machine.
Yeah, kinda knew the answer before I asked it.
So the cops don't care, but rather than make them care, we're getting legislation so more phones are sold. I'd be curious on the procedure too, IF the phone's ever recovered, if the phone can easily be reactivated again.
Why cut off a phone? Why not let the police use these amazing features the phones have to basically ring the cops and direct them to the thief?
Boom, you get the phone back, and catch a thief (or someone receiving stolen goods, that lets you then investigate them/find the person who sold them the phone).
Rather than fix the symptom of the stolen phone, why not go just that bit further to stop crime and catch the bad guys?
Would anyone A) steal a phone knowing they'll be caught B) buy a cheap stolen phone knowing they'll be caught?
Bingo. I deal with clients using our system globally, with ships crossing timezones/the dateline, handling requests booked in from other timezones, by people who travel around the world. In the end, the exceptions to any rules got silly. So the server's on Zulu time and everyone can look down at their own computer's clock/wristwatch/phone and figure things out.
To be fair, there's some excellent tools for calculating all this, but keeping on top of it, and the risk if something changes and we miss it? Not good.
Makes me wish the entire world was on one timezone/date, and everyone just got used to waking up at a different time around the globe. "What time is it in Cairo?" "Same as here mate" "what time do the wake up?" "whenever they feel like it, it looks like"
And handling Brit/US officers?/groan. the date formats, THE DATE FORMATS! If only everyone used YYYYMMDD.
Still, least I don't have to worry about having to figure out if to add tax or not depending if the shipment starts/stops/goes through certain ports and in what currency, at what rate. That was the stuff of nightmares.
It's probably one of those things that they're putting the boot in at last. Apple have yelled it from the rafters everytime they've had a win and Samsung's been fairly quiet. Bridges are burnt out now, the relationship between them will never be repaired, so Samsung are trying to set the story straight in the press (who/usually/ tend to veer towards being pro-Apple in their reporting). Plus, it's a nice point to make in other cases still raging around the world.
Isn't this A) what you could do with a bit of messing about on old trumpet winsock installs, and B) what routers like the Cradlepoint stuff do already?
The cradlepoint is more designed to auto roll over to a 3G connection if the main route drops, but can easily be configured to just add to the bandwidth. Not sure how this is different/new?
Looks brightened up a bit, but not other images thrown in. Can photographers not brighten/tweak contrast on a pic?
Posting the original RAW file (if it still exists) would cover him for these sorts of accusations. Wouldn't it be prudent for a news agency to have a backup of the RAW files for A) these sorts of accusations B) their own tweaking of the pic for print/display?
That doesn't sound entirely unreasonable.
If it pushes Google to have a bit more of a responsive front end to their customers, then... I'm ok with that.
Though I'd also see Google's side of it if they insisted on a GMail/G+ account to prove they are a valid customer and not MS spam bots!
My first thoughts too. Surely with everything being snooped on, we never have a 'non data breached' moment?
Hmm, wondering that myself. Some sort of wrapper to fool the OS that it IS a certain type of gfx card. Dunno how many things it checks to prove it's running on real PS4 hardware, but certainly interesting. Wonder how long till it's hacked.
Sounds like something schoolkids could figure out pretty quick.

Totally, they should be pushing for these useless hunks of plastic!

Was happy to hear Notch, contacted by Youtube to do the same thing, said no.
Oh? What's your theory?
And thus the problem everyone is having at the moment.

Only when the Dilithium Crystals are out of alignment and the engines canna take it cap'n.
Jboots have been nerfed?
No idea, usually a list, only thing I'm seeing is;

That's more 'techy stuff fixed' rather than the shiny stuff mentioned.

Good, I've been looking for an off-site backup of all my animated cat Gifs. This /might/ be enough.
