The Nintendo DS is not that great. They've taken a step backwards on portability. Hey Nintendo, the goal is to make smaller systems, not larger ones that you need three hands to use! Sony got it right on the size, even if they didn't on the media. Still, I think they have a clear winner on their hands. Believe in your product, Sony!
TV Guide info and synopsis information is already available. Even a basic search using this information would be very useful to many people. Google engineers may want to add information to their database, but that would require actually wading through millions of hours of bad television. I volunteer to watch all the anime. The good:bad ratio there is significantly better.
This was one of the first anime titles to appear in both anime and manga form in the US. It's a great series, and I've heard James Cameron's name tied to a film version back in the 1990's. Glad to see that the project is finally coming to fruition.
Sometimes I fast forward through the programming so that I can watch a cool commercial. How am I ever going to find my favorite commercials with a huge banner ad in the way?
Sorry, I wasn't try to be argumentative, just wanted to add information. I agree with you that it will be worse. I've long felt that the original voices get 'imprinted' and people just won't like different actors. It's like when I'm listening to the new guy doing Bugs Bunny. To me, Mel Blanc will always be the one true Bugs. Everyone else is just imitating.
Know who his replacement was? Dan "Homer Simpson" Castanella. I thought he didn't do a bad job. It's a tough act to follow. Think about Robin Williams trying to do Homer Simpson.
Grabbed from Koan Computers:
BTX - What is it
BTX is the new computer case form factor that is replacing the aging ATX form factor. Some highlights of BTX are:
BTX stands for Balanced Technology eXtended.
BTX is being developed by Intel but will be supported across all platforms.
BTX will initially have 3 sizes - BTX, microBTX and picoBTX.
BTX is designed from the ground up with noise reduction in mind.
PS2 connectors, Serial Ports, and Parallel Ports - all replaced by USB.
PCI Express slots instead of AGP, PCI, or ISA.
20pin power supply will remain compatible with ATX, with the addition of 3.3v connectors for Serial ATA.
I agree with your post, including your last statement. I've been using both Opera and Firefox over the last year or so, and prefer Opera to Firefox in both features and performance. Opera's free version is certainly good, but it's advertising pane certainly hurts it.
Yeah, but Treo might not be PalmOS for much longer. Before PalmOne acquired them they were even contemplating moving to another OS. PalmOne itself is looking at some Linux based OSes. Here's a link to the article.
I know your post was meant in jest, but I'm curious why you say "modern western civilization". Toys have been around since the dawn of time. Baby rattles are available around the world, not just in the west.
From http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answ er=10339 Q: Does G-mail support IMAP?
Gmail doesn't currently support IMAP access. As part of our ongoing commitment to give our users easy access to their email, we have introduced POP access. We look forward to announcing more features as they become available.
I moved from Netscape to Opera to Firefox, and am now considering moving back to Opera. Mouse Gestures under Opera were extremely fast and the keyboard shortcuts for common functions were excellent. I've installed the comparable extensions for Firefox, but it's just slower...
A lot of what he says in the article applies to all on-line communities. Prodigy, Compuserve, AOL, they all suffer from this ebb and flow of oldbies and newbies. One case in point is this community Gaia Online. It's a simple world built around phpBB with some clever avatar scripting built in (among other things). It's currently still in beta but has suffered through various periods of transition where oldbies will up and leave, exhibiting the same behavior as the author stated in his article.
There's a very nice link on the Square Enix USA site with information about a concert of Umatsu-san's music held a few months ago on May 10, 2004 in LA. It includes pictures and a review which I found very very informative. It includes a picture of the man himself, and it's nice to match a name to a face.
For those of you who are more musically inclined, you can actually purchase sheet music of piano scores of his work.
By default for backward compatibility many Windows flavors use LMv1. LMv2 is a little more secure, but you need to enforce strict usage of it for it to be effective.
I've read an article from a female editor of a tech magazine lamenting the same thing. Perhaps someone should start a company and put out a line of clothing for the tech-enabled women out there.
My Japanese isn't great, but I can pick up a few interesting tidbits from the Spec sheet:
Ports&Switches:
Headphone/Microphone Jacks
Wireless Lan On/Off switch
I like the mic jack, but I wonder if it'll have some sort of voice recording module. Seems more like a PDA feature. The WLAN On/Off switch definitely is a nice feature. I hate turning off WLAN in software with my PDA and laptop. It keeps turning itself on, and I don't realize it until I have to go turn it off in software again.
Accessories ($20):
Black Softcase & White handstrap
Would have been nice to have this come with the PSP. $20 bucks seems a little steep. I wonder if any protection comes with the PSP by default? Didn't see anything in the sheet.
PostNuke was a fork of PHP-Nuke, which itself was a poor system to develop and maintain. It doesn't surprise me that this has happened to PostNuke despite their efforts to secure the system. I'm glad they discovered this relatively quickly though.

Did you read the article in my post? Handspring considered a change to another OS, but which OS was not stipulated.

The author obviously wants anonymity, so why the attribution requirement? Just seems strange...

Thanks for the clarification. 40 sessions is probably more accurate, no?

Just RTFA and I loved the title chosen for it: How I Learned to Love Larry (Lessig).
